⇒ PERSONALITY: jia is someone that's just as bright on the outside as she is on the inside. cheerful and pretty loud, many are surprised at the stark contrast between her and her younger sibling. they seem to be polar opposites, with jia being so extroverted and immediately becoming close with most of the people she comes in contact with. a lot like chen from their senior group exo, she's almost like a siren, which actually gets kind of annoying sometimes but you'll find that you can't really hate her. she means well, really, even though sometimes her friendliness reaches the extent to where she's suddenly (accidentally) she's accidentally flirting with you; whether you're a girl or a boy it doesn't really matter. perhaps it's because jia is a touchy person, almost always showing her affection through her actions, or maybe just because she's quite confident in herself, and doesn't care about what other people have to say about her. but, like other people, she isn't all perfect. jia is someone that also tends to be selfish and bossy, and will complain/become incredibly frustrated if you don't do as she tells you to (but won't get mad at you since she's pretty rational). she's stubborn because of how ambitious she is, and won't stop until she gets what she wants the way she wants it.

⇒ BACKGROUND: jia lived a fairly normal life; her parents had stable jobs and she wasn't bullied at school. the only thing, though, that could be considered out of the ordinary trope, was that she was, in fact, one of the most popular students. naturally pretty and extremely outgoing, it's obvious that she would be one of the 'it' girls at their school. she did well in math and science, and was always in the top 3 student list. her parents were pretty laid back about how they raised her, and supported her through and through, even when her little sister was born and they had to balance the attention. despite the three year difference, tzuyu and jia got along extremely well, especially since they had a similar interest in performing arts. she was recruited by an sm scout during one of their global auditions in 2010, when they spotted her eating inside the building they were hosting the event (she was eating coffin bread and waiting for her friend to come out the bathroom). they made her audition with a dance and a song and quickly accepted her. once she got permission from her parents, jia set off for south korea to train for debut.
