- 8/20/18 - This is what I learned today...
- Today I learned terminal shortcuts and how to make a gist.
- These are the terminal shortcuts that I learned:
- ls: List folder contents
- ls -l: List folder contents as list
- ls -la: List folder contents as list w/hidden files
- cd directory: Go one level deeper / Enter folder
- cd ..: Go one level higher / Leave folder
- cd ../..: Go two or more levels higher
- cd ~: Go back to home folder
- cd /: Go back to root folder
- mkdir foldername: Create folder
- rm: Remove file
- rmdir: Remove empty folder
- rm -rf foldername: Remove folder w/ contents (CAREFUL)
- touch filename: Create file
- pwd: Get complete file path
- cat filename: Get contents of file
- echo ‘add this text’ >> newfile.rb: Add text to file
- say ‘I’m talking’: Computer speaks text (Mac only)
