Fantastic Equestria Rules

1.  No spamming, harassing, flaming, or trolling.  Be nice and polite to each other.

2.  Use proper grammar and spelling, and when RPing, try to put detail and effort into your posts.  Don't take up two lines sending two messages when you could combine them into one post, for example.

3.  Generally, if something is show canon, it is canon in Fantastic Equestria's setting, although exceptions may be made.  If something is not seen to exist in the show and doesn't seem like it would, such as various forms of high-level machinery, take caution when including it in RPs, if at all.

4.  Avoid RPing as canon characters.  It's an easy way to start drama of the bad kind.

5.  Don't come in begging for OPs privileges.  Like any other channel, you should earn them by showing sound judgment, reliability, and self-control.  Actively trying to get the attention of higher-ups in the hopes that they'll give you OPs privileges isn't any more likely to get you "promoted" than being a productive community member.

6.  Lurk if you're unsure about how to do things here, but don't idle.  For clarification, as far as I'm concerned, lurking is being in the channel and paying attention, keeping up with the logs, etcetera, while idling is being in the channel and not paying attention, keeping up with the logs, etcetera.


Setting:

The mane 6 are the bearers of The Elements of Harmony.  Ergo, Twilight Sparkle=Magic, Rarity=Generosity, Fluttershy=Kindness, Rainbow Dash=Loyalty, Apple Jack=Honesty, and Pinkie Pie=Laughter.
Twilight Sparkle is a princess, often called Princess Twilight, and is an alicorn.

This setting is NOT meant to be a grimdark one, obviously, and players should try to keep the tone similar to the show.  Comical shenanigans in RP are welcome, as is lighthearted, or warm fuzzy stuff.
This isn't the channel for RPing vampire invasions, "ponies vs cthulhu" or testing out your war-scarred veterans or whatever.
As such, violence and dark themes and whatnot in RPs aren't explicitly forbidden, but it isn't encouraged either, and should be kept to low amounts, especially if meant to be "serious".

Magic:

This channel is meant to be high fantasy, but that doesn't mean a given character gets to be extra good with magic here.  It should make sense for the character;  Consider their cutie mark, special talent, etcetera, if applicable.
That said, as opposed to the show, magic that affects age, gender/sex, and/or weather are all considered possible here, but still very high level magic.  They are possible, with enough natural talent, knowledge and effort, especially for ponies such as the princesses.  It may be easier to rely on other methods for that, however, such as being a pegasus, if you want to manipulate weather.  :P

Avoid trying to go steam-punk, sci-fi, etc;  Fantastic Equestria's setting is made to be primarily focused on fantasy elements.  If you want to do another genre, there's likely another channel for that.


Allowed races:

Earth pony, pegasus, unicorn, zebra, griffon/griffin/gryphon, deer, donkey, bison, minotaur, dragon, diamond dog, changeling, sea serpent, breezie, and some hybrids of the aforementioned species.  Ask for clarification.

Generally, if a race has been shown and has at least had a speaking role, it's permitted.  If it hasn't been shown, or hasn't had a character with a speaking role, you should probably make sure everypony else is okay with you RPing such a creature first.

Humans and on a related note, "anthros" -of any kind- should be kept to a minimum, if used at all.


Remember that exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for any and all of these rules, although that doesn't mean you can ignore them.
