  — changkyun comes across as a smol lil' flower boy who just needs to be protected, to those who don't know him yet.
  — it's easy to say he likes roasting people. heck, he'll even roast an object. he fires an average of ten roasts a day. he says it so innocently, like it's a compliment.
  — when he's not roasting, he's dissing, casually. this often comes with a sarcastic smile, or a middle finger.
  — he talks way too much, probably because he gets nervous when he's not in the center of attention. after a while of listening to him, his voice becomes some kind of mantra you can't get out of your head. he never speaks before he talks either, which can sometimes land him in a lot of trouble.
  — not much can impress changkyun. it's a mystery to whether anything can. he'll clap, act incredibly impressed, and when you finally think something's impressed him, he'll say, "that was shit".
  — he likes bossing people around, but they hardly ever listen to him. no-one wants to listen to a 5"2 teenager telling you what to do. when they ignore him, he starts shouting, and you have to try really hard not to laugh.

  — when he's around girls, it's like he's a different person. he acts shy, speaks softly, and gets bashful when he flirts with them. when he walks away, he winks and whispers, "bitch, i just scored".
  — despite all of the above, changkyun has the potential to be a really nice person. when the schedule is over, and he's roasted everyone at a satisfactory level, he curls up in a ball on the sofa, and watch stranger things on netflix. you're not allowed to disturb him, unless you're coming to give him hot chocolate, or you're gonna snuggle with him. after this, he's guaranteed to be happy, and trust me, changkyun's smile is the cutest thing you've ever seen.
  — he's actually in touch with his caring side, but it doesn't show through in front of people. if it did, people would get suspicious, because he wouldn't be behaving like the changkyun they know. you can tell it's showed if you fall asleep on the couch and wake up with a blanket around you; or if you can't afford the jacket you really wanted from the shop, and you find it sitting on your bed after a day's practise. there's a 99% chance changkyun put it there. if you ask who it was, he'll smile and whisper, "it was the fairies". one thing to know is not to confront him about it, because he'll suddenly get very flustered, and your chance of being visited by "the fairies" again gets lowered.
  — in short, changkyun is a very emotional person. you can catch him in a good mood, or in a bad one. either way, there's nothing stopping you from loving him irrationally.

◃ BACKGROUND:
   yang changkyun was born in montreal, canada, in 1997. his mother had lived in canada all her life, and she met his father when he went there for work experience. he grew up speaking both english and french, and lived a peaceful life with a few friends. he seemed to develop many fears from growing up in montreal: he went to new york at the age of 7, went to the top of the empire state building and cried, hence the fear of heights and flying. he developed spectrophobia after reading into what ghosts were, watching "real experiences" and testing an ouija board. he developed nosocomephobia after visiting hospital for the first time, when he went to get his blood tested.
   he attended st. george's school of montreal for secondary school, and that's when his grades started dropping.
   his parents blamed it on the school at first; they couldn't do anything about it because they couldn't afford to send him to a better school. over time, they accepted that changkyun wasn't the smartest person in the school, but they still pushed him to work harder. they wanted him to be successful in life, and the way things were going, he wouldn't be.
   when he reached the age of 16, they made the decision to send him to college in south korea. now, changkyun didn't actually have a say in the plan, and as much as he hated studying, the thought of him having a shitty job and a shitty house was unbearable. so he agreed with the plan, and attended the same college as his father did ("he turned out successful, didn't he?")
   being only fluent in english at college wasn't a problem, as most people were taking english degrees and changkyun could converse with them on some level. he began working toward a degree in english, literature and science, and thought about becoming a teacher.
   well, not for long. during his second year of college, he was scouted by a yg representative while he was out in the park with friends. she just gave him a business card, told him about the company, and said he could call and arrange an audition any time. he didn't know why she'd come up to him, and then his friend said, "probably because you're so good looking".
   whether or not that was true didn't matter. changkyun's ego went from 0 to 100 in a second. he told everyone on campus that he'd been scouted, presenting the business card proudly. he enjoyed all the attention he was gathering, and didn't really want it to stop.
it did stop eventually, and he was asked if he was actually going to audition. it didn't seem like such a bad idea, what with the shitty grades he was getting recently, and how promising a career in the k-pop industry would be.
   so he auditioned, in the summer break of his second year at college, aged 18. he said if it didn't go well, he'd just continue in college. if it did? then you'd see the last of him.
   he auditioned by rapping, which he found he was surprisingly good at, after spending a night in front of the computer watching twenty one pilots' music videos. he got through eventually, packed up his bags and walked out of college, without looking back.
   he didn't feel any regrets from dropping out of school, but he did regret not telling his parents first. he spent the night in his new dorm explaining to his parents what he did. they weren't entirely supportive, and tried persuading him to go back to college. nothing would work. changkyun didn't want to do school anymore. he wanted to be famous. he finally debuted at the age of 19, after a year and a half of training: that night, he received a dozen texts from his parents, telling him how proud they were of him.
