  1. Invisible Children only donates 31% of their proceeds to actually helping anyone (very small in any sense of the word), the rest of it going in the pockets of the people running the organization and their documentary business. They're also being criticized for oversimplifying and exaggerating the situation, turning a complex affair into a classical fight between good versus evil, even depicting the Ugandan government as knights in shining armor, when they're no different from the LRA.
  2.
  3. Invisible Children also neglects to mention that Kony and the LRA were exiled from Uganda back in 2006. Kony's current whereabouts are unknown, but he hasn't been seen in the past 6 years, so many Ugandans believe that he's dead. As for the LRA, there's only a few hundred of them left, and while they do occasionally commit acts of wanton violence, they're NOWHERE near as active as they were back in 1986-2006.
  4.
  5. Basically, what I'm saying is, Invisible Children is probably not the organization to donate to if you want to stop the violence in Uganda. Consider donating to any other organization BESIDES IC. Oxfam, Amnesty International, UNICEF, Save The Children, The International Rescue Committee, SOS Children's Villages, World Vision, and many others are prime candidates if you truly want to help Ugandan children out and maximize your support of the Kony 2012 cause.
  6.
  7. Of the $8.9 million IC spent in 2011:
  8. $1.7 million in US employee salaries
  9. $357,000 in Film costs
  10. $850,000 in Production costs
  11. $685,000 in Computer equipment
  12. $244,000 in "professional services" (DC lobbyists)
  13. $1.07 million in travel expenses
  14. $400,000 in office rent in San Diego
  15. $16,000 in Entertainment etc.
  16. Only 2.8 million (31%) made it to their charity program (which is further whittled down by local Ugandan government officials)
  17. What do the children actually get? Probably around 1-2%.
  18.
  19. So, to everyone who donates to IC:
  20.
  21. I hope you realize that you're only making Invisible Children richer, and they're laughing in your faces as they receive your $35, and only give 31% to Uganda, and most of that goes towards Ugandan warlords who are just as evil as Kony. As for Jason Russell and IC, they will be sipping pina coladas on the beach, laughing their asses off at all the gullible sheep, having their dicks slurped on by hot 10/10 babes, living the life because of a single 30-minute video. It's the perfect Ponzi scheme, and you're all playing right into it under the delusion that you're being given a chance to do something good.
