  1. Lyn Emmett Backstory:
  2.
  3. Life is hard for an orphaned girl on the streets. It's harder when those streets are the streets of Tortuga. It's even harder when you're stupid. Luckily for Lyn, only the first two of those things are true. Life was competition from an early age, first with the other street rats for food and marks, then with other street rats for territory and prestige, and finally with those same street rats in the pirate forces of Tortuga, for rank and honor. Despite enlisting later than most of her peers, Lyn distinguished herself as an able scout and crack shot, and was fast-tracked into Tortugan special forces training. Service with the pirates went well and Lyn made a lot of connections in her time. Unfortunately, a particular attack on the shipping of an especially vindictive tycoon earned Bloodmarks on the heads of as many people involved as the tycoon could dig up. He still nurses this particular grudge, though Lyn (and most of the others involved) are barely aware of him.

  5. When her enlistment and back pay ran out, Lyn found herself stranded on an unfamiliar station without enough money in her pocket to make it back to her home. Ever the opportunist, she got herself a shuttle to a nearby planet and enrolled in the planetary army with a couple of friends from Tortuga in a similar situation. While her past hasn't exactly endeared her to the locals, her abilities speak for themselves, and she's remained (though grudgingly in many cases). Others might try to improve things when your superiors think that the next pirate wave will be the one where you turn your coat, but Lyn sees a level of value in the current state of things. It also makes things a bit simpler, as the distrust is mutual.
  6.
  7. Lyn is a medium height woman, about 5'6" tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. She is very slim for her height. She has numerous superficial scars, spread between her face, forearms, and shins. She projects an air of invincibility and callousness, but conceals her universal distrust of others under a mask of amiability and cameraderie.
