Imgur Review

I am so sick of Imgur.  Everything about the app and the company just anger me every time I open the app.  But for the first half, let's stick to the app itself:

 - Ads.  Everywhere.  This is not how it started.  The more corporate it gets, the more ways they find to toss ads in the middle of everything.  At least 5x I have opened the app to find yet another new obstructing ad.  And they ARE obstructing.

 - Features.  Normally this would be a plus.  But every time they add a 'feature', it seems to be lame-brained attempt to stay relevant when all I want is to scroll through images others found acceptable.  Want to be pestered about what today's theme is?  Gotchya covered!  Those comments seemed less relevant...can we shorten them and show you non-related stuff by the person who posted this?  Oh, and here's a ad in that spot, too.  And let's shift the whole content page every time you back out of the last image you looked at.  And toss an ad there.

 - Constantly breaking.  Usually in little ways, but annoying ones.  Ones I remember recently...clicking on a image takes you to some random one.  This is sometimes only fixed with a full reboot of the app.  The 'followed' tab won't let you scroll, making it worthless.  For a little while, I could get to the 'end' of the day's content very easily like they forgot to add stuff to the end.  Constantly showing images you can't click on because they've been removed...speaking of,

 - Way over curated.  When I started using Imgur, I admit there was a lot of stuff I couldn't exactly open up amongst family.  But now it feels like puritans curate the site.  I mean, I can understand removing porn and gore, but WOW.  I remember reading recently about a poster who kept getting reported for showing leg in a dress.  And I LIKED being able to see sexy woman on there now and again.  Not smut, but just spice up the room a bit.  And even COMMENTARY is over curated.  If a subject is not approved, it is removed.  No...it's censored.  Let's just say it.  They heavily censor they're content.

 - It doesn't get better.  Every update is a worse one than the previous.  Nothing is improved.  It gets more complicated, more censored, more ads.  More bugs are introduced.  I miss the old versions.  If I could just install the old app and not worry about it updating, I would.  It was a ton better.  It would still be censored, but it would be functional.

The people who started Imgur had good intentions.  Provide a place for all those images people had on Reddit to call home and have a place to flip through them.  The people they sold it do are soulless corps who just want to get as much money though ads as possible.  It doesn't even really matter if people enjoy Imgur, as long as they have statistics to show potential clients that their ads will be viewed.  I actually like the Imgur community.  They fight hard to be heard through all that garbage.  But I hear them less and less.  As they get silenced, the 'soul' of the site (and app) just...pitters to nothing.  It's sad.  I used to love this site.  I would give it 0 out of 5 stars if I could for burning us all.  But 1 for being a functional app is fair.  I mean, it does render...
