- To construct the cash register, design a Form that consists of a set of numeric buttons and function buttons. The display area for computations is provided by two TextBoxes – the left displays the dollar amount entered and the right displays the cents. As digits are entered from the buttons on the display, they are appended to the amount currently displayed.
- In addition to a button for each digit, the following buttons should be provided:
- (1) a “delete entry” button to clear the TextBox display for any reason,
- (2) an “enter taxable” button that adds 7% sales tax to the amount displayed in the TextBoxes before adding it to the sum of purchases made or displaying it on the sales slip,
- (3) an “enter nontaxable” button for nontaxable purchases,
- (4) a “total” button that causes a line to be displayed under the purchases, then, under the line, a title “TOTAL” followed by the total amount,
- (5) an “amount received” button that enters the amount displayed in the two TextBoxes and displays the title “AMT REC’D” followed by the amount entered; underneath this line, any change to be returned is displayed, and
- (6) an “off” button that ‘turns off’ the cash register by closing the window.
- To model the sales slip, a ListBox control object should be used, and two methods are needed for this control object:
- (1) ListBox1.Items.Add(value), and
- (2) ListBox1.Items.Clear().
