  1. There's nothing wrong with being a penalty box player and scoring tap ins. In fact, it's a very useful skill.
  2.
  3. The problem arises (and results in derision of Ronaldo) for two reasons. First, doing what he does has never ever been enough to gain the massively overhyped reputation he has. This can only be put down to the fact that people wrongly conflate scoring with overall football ability, and also that he's a media whore and A list celebrity so - like Beckham - he will always attract legions of worshippers who act like every mundane thing he does is a miracle.
  4.
  5. The second reason people mock him for it is because there's a guy (Messi), who's scoring as many goals as he is, generally, but he's doing it with far more style, his goals are far more impressive, and he's about 99888558 times the playmaker that Ronaldo is. Why does nobody debate whether Muller or Cruyff is the better 70s player? After all, Muller scored more goals, yet Cruyff is unanimously seen as the better player. Yet in this era we reduce before Ronaldo & Messi to goals? Why has criteria changed?
  6.
  7. Like I say, there's nothing wrong with him being a glorified poacher. The issue many people have with it is that what he does is NOWHERE near enough to warrant the frankly insane reputation he has. The way his fans talk of him you'd think he was Pele and Maradona rolled into one. If you were a martian and heard this hype, then finally seen him play, you'd be very underwhelmed. You'd think 'is that it? FFS the standards on this pitiful planet are in the absolute gutter'.
  8.
  9. The hype surrounding the boy is just extremely excessive. In life, there's always been introverted, underrated people who fly under the radar and never get the credit they deserve, and opposed to that, egocentric, overrated self-promoters who are able to fool many people into thinking they're better and more deserving than they really are through their arrogant ways. An example of the former is Iniesta, and an example of the latter is Ronaldo.
  10.
  11. The greatest trick Ronaldo ever pulled was convincing less enlightened football fans that the debate between he and Messi should come down to stats. It's a total red herring, since outwith stats, Messi is in a different stratosphere. Hypothetically speaking, if they were both banned from scoring, who'd be of more use to the team (they score similar number of goals anyway)? Exactly.
  12.
  13. One of the most annoying things about current football is how it seems to be a given that Messi & Ronaldo are the two best players in the world, and nobody else seems to get a look in. It hasn't mattered what Xavi, Iniesta, Robben or Suarez have done over the last years, they're always relegated to 'third at best', simply because they aren't massive goalscorers like Ronaldo. The fact that they offer more to a team outside of goals than he does is overlooked by shallow stats obsessives. Xavi ran the game against every team he has played against for years, regardless of how good they were. Ronaldo, alternatively, has wilted in plenty of big games. Why should Ronaldo be considered better, just because he scores more goals? Fuck that, Xavi wasn't even a goalscorer. Xavi's ability to dominate and control games was more impressive than Ronaldo's goalscoring.
  14.
  15. Frankly, it's laughable that people say 'nobody else is on Messi and Ronaldo's level'. Even if Ronaldo has been the second best player in the world, he's still far closer to the rest of the pack than he is to Messi. What has he ever done to deserve being placed alongside Messi?
  16.
  17. You even get past legends being underrated compared to this cock. People saying Rivaldo isn't in his league, acting like I'd said something baffling by claiming Michael Laudrup (a genius and far more talented and intelligent player) was better people calling the Brazilian Ronaldo 'fat Ronaldo' and saying he's the inferior Ronaldo, people saying Ronaldo is RM's greatest ever player, as if he's somehow surpassed what Di Stefano and Puskas did for the club ! This is how overrated the Portuguese player has got: even players from history who were significantly more talented than he is are being disrespected, all because Ronaldo scores lots of strikers' goals in an era which is very conducive to goal inflation, and goals are all modern fans care about because they haven't got a fucking clue about how to analyse football or footballers in a qualitative manner. It's all stats, stats, stats, all the time, and fuck how the ball
  18. arrives at Ronaldo's feet - all that matters is he applies the finish.
  19.
  20. Overrated player, and seems like a very uneducated, unintelligent, insecure, low class Jersey shore type slimeball. Football will be better when he retires, unless someone even more obnoxious than him arrives in the next generation.
