  1. Hello everyone!
  2.
  3. As you may have heard, the Build Guild vanilla server is going to be reset soon and I'm going to be playing a lot more vanilla Minecraft as a result. I wanted to stream some vanilla before the reset to kind of ease my way back into it but I was afraid that cutting myself off from all the mods cold-turkey style might be a bit harsh, so I've put together my own mini psudo-vanilla mod pack to bridge the gap! The basic idea is to keep the in-game content (blocks, items, etc) completely untouched and totally vanilla, but to add in the client-side mods that I'm used to and comfortable with such a minimap, NEI recipe lookup and so forth.
  4.
  5. It's not an official modpack, it doesn't have a name, and there isn't a download link for it, but I'll tell you what mods are in it, and the basics of how I put it together.
  6.
  7. First, I used AT Launcher (found at atlauncher.com) to create a new vanilla instance of Minecraft 1.7.2 and checked the box for latest Forge when the optional mods screen came up. The reason I'm using 1.7.2 and not the latest Minecraft is because 1.7.2 is the version that Forge, as well as most of the mods that I want to use, requires. There are some mods for newer versions of Minecraft but the VAST majority of the ones I want to use are still on 1.7.2 for the near future.

  9. Once the instance finished installing I ran it one time so that Forge would set itself up, and then I went into the folder on my hard drive where it got installed and opened up the "mods" folder. I then googled to find the mods I wanted, downloaded them, and put them in the mods folder. I also made some small changes to some config files found in the config folder. After that I installed the texture pack "R3D Craft, Smooth Realism", and the SEUS shader for the shaders mod using the instructions on their web pages.
  10.
  11. These are the mods that I found using google:
  12.
  13. * Armor Status HUD v1.26 - Displays the damage taken to your armor and held tool with icons on the left of the screen.
  14. * Treecapitator v2.02 - Speeds up the chopping of trees. Uses the full durability on the tool that cutting it by hand would have.
  15. * CodeChickenCore v1.7.2-1.0.0 - This is behind-the-scenes mod that is required to get NEI to work.
  16. * In Game Info v2.6.1.46 - I'm using this to display the day count, current game time, biome, and FPS at the top left of the screen.
  17. * Inventory Tweaks v1.57-116 - Adds inventory shortcuts for sorting and moving items around in chests and in your inventory.
  18. * Lunatrius Core v1.0.2.7 - This is behind-the-scenes mod that is required to get In Game Info to work.
  19. * Map Writer v2.1.1 - This is a minimap. I'm using it to keep track of all the paces I've gone before.
  20. * Not Enough Items v1.01 - This is the mod that lets you search for items and look up recipes, gives magnet mode, mob spawn locations, and much more.
  21. * Open Eye v0.5 - A mod that provides info about game crashes to you and to mod developers.
  22. * Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders v2.3.1.2 - This is what adds the much improved lighting, water reflection, and animation.
  23. * Voxel Map v1.0 - This is a minimap. I'm using it for the radar and waypoints.
  24. * Waila v 1.5.2a - This is what shows you what block you are looking at at the top center of the screen. NEI also does that but Waila improves it and adds more information.
  25.
  26. Please remember that I don't have the time or ability to offer you technical support if you try to make this pack and run into errors. PM's, tweets, and chat room questions about crashes, trouble finding links, or other issues will most likely not be answered by me. There's just too many of you, and not enough time in a cast. Feel free to ask in my chatroom though, there may be other people there who can help you. Usually though, the forums of the mods or launcher that you're having trouble with is a better place to get help.
