  1. (Before starting the review I would like to point out a few things. If you don't care about this then move to the next paragraph. First off, I'm aware that this originally came from Japan but that will not be mentioned slightly in this review. I do know that there are some censorship changes but that is not what I am here to talk about. Second, some of the episodes are in Kirby's Dream Collection[Wii] and I highly implore you to check those out. Finally, I will not be talking about the movie. Before judging, I have watched the movie recently and it was good in some parts, but it has some of the problems I will be talking about today. Thank you for reading this so carry on.)[Pastebin team and such, this is a repost to move this piece of writing to my original account, sorry about that.]

  3. Kirby Kirby Kirby. It's the name you should all know. In fact, he's the star of this show! Although, I wouldn't recommend you get a monster to clobbah that there Kirby. Why? Because he's got maximum pink! Obviously. All jokes aside, this is Kirby Right Back At Ya. This show was dubbed from the Japanese original, and stars Kirby from, you guessed it, the Kirby franchise. I had fond memories of the commercials for this series pretty well surprisingly. It was aired right when I got up most of the time (which was 6:30.) so I never got to really see it till this year, where I decided to give it a look. So enough filler content, let's get on to the review shall we?

  5. (Story)
  6. I can give you two plots. One is abridged and you will probably care more about and the other is the actual one. So let's start with the abridged. Kirby arrives in Dream Land and displays his maximum cuteness and his maximum power defeating monsters. Now the actual one. A long long time ago, in a galaxy probably far away, there used to be a group called the Star Warriors. Meta Knight, being one in this group, fought long and hard to stop eNeMeE, an evil corporation hell bent on world domination. Eventually, only Meta Knight and a few rebels are left. Meta Knight soon leaves to go to Dream Land. Finally, Kirby (a baby star warrior) crash lands into Dream Land after his flying starship detected monsters in Dream Land ordered by King Dedede.
  7. Alright. You know you liked the abridged plot better. If you don't, I'm sorry to say this but... all that's expanded on in the Star Warriors plot is scarce throughout the entire series. Which is a big problem to me. The actual story has potential to be something bigger and something expanded on... but there are only 2-3 episodes that expand on this. Speaking on expanding things... let's talk about that for a second. This series is very bad on expanding the universe after around episode 15. Anything you want to learn more about is thrown out the window.

  9. (Characters)
  10. Now let's get to the characters. Of course you have the star of the show, Kirby. Kirby, while being a piiiink guy, is one of the reasons I watched the show. Kirby's antics always had a charming way to them which they nailed perfectly. If you took Kirby out of the picture, there would be only one person that is still great. Of course I'm talking about King Dedede! While having the IQ size of... well... I have no clue. It's small, and it was revealed in one of the episodes. He likes to hit things with his hammer first, and talk questions later. Now why is he so great? His lines. Seriously! The way Dedede says his lines and how they were used was absolutely great. I really didn't start D-preciating (haha, that's a pun from an episode titled D-preciation Day) him till later on, but when I did? He became a vital part of the show if you took away the monsters and villain status. Now that we got the ones I personally liked... let's get on to the more eh.
  11. Tiff and Tuff. They are apparently a great part of this show... but they can get really boring. You have one stone cold person with a I-can-do-whatever-I-want person. So let's start with Tiff. Tiff is the sort of caretaker for Kirby. She provides Kirby the warpstar whenever it's needed. However she just didn't hit anywhere to me. On one side she's friendly but on the other she's like "Oh King Dedede doing something for Kirby? It's bad, kill it with fire, I hope you burn in hell Dedede." It's exaggerated, but that's an accurate description. And then there's Tuff. I don't have to explain anything about him other than he's there. It seems as if he would have a substantial role but nope. He's just existing.
  12. Speaking of just existing... let's talk about the various townsfolk. They all do something of course like a chef, a mayor, a sherrif... but they don't do much. They fall for another of Dedede's schemes and just roll with it. They exist just to create the town. Also, it seems like there are only around 20-30 of them but there are probably 1000s. You'll thank me later on that one.
  13. Alright, I've gone on long enough. Lightning round!
  14. Meta Knight- just shows up sometimes and says when Kirby has a power
  15. Escargoon- Servant of Dedede, suffers massive torture through his plots though
  16. Waddle Dees- Even more servants of Dedede! They are numerous.
  17. ...phew. Let's move on.
  18.
  19. (Episodes)
  20. This is kind of a rocky subject to talk about here. The episodes, while some being enjoyable... are mainly bad and won't hold your attention. Which for me, having a show not hold your attention is like quitting a game because it was way past boring. The shows are boring because they are EXTREMELY formulaic. You could give me two random episodes and I could give you an accurate (although not all of the time) timeline about those two episodes. In fact, I'll give you an exact timeline!
  21. (Optional, Kirby and Co. do something) -> Dedede gets a monster from eNeMeE -> Shenanigans occur between the monster and Kirby and Co, Kirby gets a copy ability and saves the day. A good 50-75% of episodes follow this timeline, which makes things really boring after awhile. Speaking of formulas, there are also formulas within the episodes themselves. Take Whispy Woods for example. Any episode that starts out with this tree will more than likely have Dedede trying to build a golf course there. Cooking episode? Cook Kirby. School episode? The school will be destroyed, even though he does it 3 times. The ones that are good hardly follow the timeline. If I were to give points to episodes... "A Princess in Dis-dress" would win, and even then it doesn't exactly follow the timeline. If you wanted to cancel silence from your life though, the timeline episodes would be great.
  22. Now let's talk about favorites and hates. This is more of a recommendation/warning if you wanted to watch this for yourself.
  23. Favorite Episode- "Cartoon Buffoon". The first of 2 cartoon creation episodes, and while it is the crowd favorite... it's one of the best of the entire series. Worst Episode- "Escargoon Squad". This one really just has no point. No point whatsoever. I would skip this one if you would like to.
  24.
  25. (Final Thoughts)
  26. While it stars the pink puffball, this series cannot escape its tragic fate of formulaic episodes. I got very mad toward the end of my journey because of the formulaic episodes. While yes I would like you to watch a small bit of the series... I implore you not to watch the entire thing. I would personally suggest watching the 3 episodes included with Kirby's Dream Collection for the Wii. Those have the episodes that would be a great watch for you and for me. Thanks for reading and enjoy your day ^-^
