  11.

  13.
  14. In addition to the US version, Bloomberg Television has international variations of the channel. Most of them are in the local language of the countries they serve.

  21.
  22. Bloomberg's unique multi-screen format delivers more information than a traditional news broadcaster. The content draws from the real-time financial data on the Bloomberg Terminal, used by 325,000 financial professionals around the world. Each portion of the Data Screen has a purpose and a mission:

  24. The Context Box - an extensive running order of key equity indices, time charts, bond yields, foreign exchange rates and commodity prices.
  25. The Stock Ticker - the upper and lower equity crawls provide comprehensive coverage of the major domestic and international exchanges. We spell out the companies' names, so there's no need to memorize the ticker symbols. Stocks that are up appear in green, down in red, unchanged in white.

(formerly Clear Channel Communications), but are programmed by Bloomberg Radio under a local marketing agreement (LMA). Bloomberg moved its programming in Boston to WRCA, owned by Beasley Media Group, on July 4, 2017, and later that year fully acquired WNBP (1450 AM) in Newburyport to serve as a simulcast of WRCA (both WRCA and WNBP operate translator stations on 106.1 FM); its LMA with WXKS expired on March 1, 2018. Bloomberg fully acquired WSPZ-AM from Salem in 2018 and began to carry Bloomberg Radio's financial news and information programming on March 5, 2018. The call letters of WSPZ-AM were later changed to WGAY-AM.

  58. WBBR (1130 AM) is a Class A clear-channel radio station licensed to New York City. It serves as the flagship station of Bloomberg Radio, Bloomberg L.P.'s radio service. The station offers world, national and local news with an emphasis on business and the financial markets, along with interviews with corporate executives, economists and industry analysts.
  59.
  60. The station's origins go back to 1922 as WAAM in Newark, and 1925 as WODA in Paterson. On February 13, 1934 the stations, which had been sharing time on 1250 kHz (along with a third station, WHBI Newark), joined forces to become "New York's newest radio station". Taking the new call sign WNEW to represent NEWark, NEW Jersey.
  61.
  62. WNEW was put up for sale in 1991, with Bloomberg L.P. purchasing the station for $13.5 million. In the period before the format change, the airstaff was given an opportunity to say goodbye, culminating on December 10 and December 11, 1992, when the station had one big farewell show. During this farewell show, the airstaff remembered WNEW highlights and talked about the end of an era. The show ended at 8:15 p.m. on the 11th, as Mark Simone signed off for the last time with the entire current and many living former personalities at his side. The last two songs played were by Frank Sinatra: "Here's That Rainy Day" and "We'll Meet Again." WNEW joined NBC Talknet in progress, followed by Larry King as usual.
  63.
  64. Then, after Larry King, beginning at 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning and throughout that day, WNEW began simulcasting WYNY for three days. The station only broke away for New York Giants football, Talknet, and Larry King. On December 15, the sale of WNEW to Bloomberg became final, with the station continuing to simulcast WYNY until 4:00 p.m. Then, after airing the Perry Como Christmas Special, shows from Talknet, and the first hour of Larry King, the station signed off at 11:59 p.m. The airing of The Larry King Show ended abruptly and the pre-recorded voice of engineering director Alan Kirschner was broadcast, stating "At this time, 1130 WNEW New York will leave the air forever. Thanks for your support over the years. This is WNEW, New York".
  65.
  66. At the transmitter site, engineer Rene Tetro then turned off the transmitter for two minutes, switching to the new feed from the Bloomberg offices. The station signed back on the air at 12:01 a.m. with the new call sign WBBR. The station then began simulcasting WQEW (1560 AM, now WFME), then owned by the New York Times. In anticipation of the end of WNEW, WQEW began broadcasting a standards format some two weeks earlier. Over the next several weeks, WQEW asked listeners to 1130 to switch their dials to 1560. The simulcast ended on January 4, 1993, when WBBR's business news format debuted.
  67.
  68. WBBR serves as an overflow station for 660 WFAN, carrying games from New York and New Jersey sports teams, mainly the New Jersey Devils and Brooklyn Nets, when there are scheduling overlaps. WBBR also carries Westwood One's coverage of the annual Masters Tournament. During these sports broadcasts, the regular Bloomberg Radio programming continues online-only.
  69.

In our "hourly wheel", we provide in-depth business and market coverage six times an hour. We also provide three local/regional and three world/national newscasts each hour. 120. WRCA (1330 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Watertown, Massachusetts and serving the Greater Boston media market. The license is held by the Beasley Media Group, LLC, part of the Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. The station carries financial news from Bloomberg Radio with some local news, weather and traffic reports. WRCA's programming is also heard on FM translator W291CZ (106.1 MHz) and on the HD2 channel of sister station WBOS.
  121.
  122. The station began operating as WCRB on January 30, 1948, owned by Theodore Jones's Charles River Broadcasting (hence the WCRB call letters). WCRB was originally a community radio station for Waltham, Massachusetts, before switching to a classical music format a few years later. An FM simulcast was added in 1954, WCRB-FM. As FM broadcasting became more popular for music listening, the AM station ceased simulcasting WCRB-FM's classical format in 1975 and became WHET, programming a big band/adult standards format from 1975 until 1978, and then a short run as a beautiful music outlet. Sales of the station to various owners led to formats such as country music WDLW for most of the 1980s, and then "Showbiz Radio" WRCA (standing for "Radio, Comedy, and Arts") in 1990 before the station began leasing time to ethnic broadcasters in 1991 with the WRCA call sign retained. The current owners, the Beasley Broadcast Group, took over in 2000 from the ADD Radio Group.
  123.
  124. The station's long time transmitter site in Waltham was discontinued in 2007 when WRCA became one of three AM stations to share a rebuilt transmitter facility at the original site of WBOS AM 1600 on Sawmill Brook Parkway in Newton. This site is now used by stations on 1200, 1330 and 1600 kHz.
  125.
  126. WRCA's city of license changed from Waltham to Watertown in 2007, and the power increased to 25,000 watts daytime, 17,000 watts nighttime. In addition to ethnic programming, WRCA had broadcast Northeastern Huskies men's ice hockey games.
  127.
  128. Following Beasley's acquisition of Greater Media, WRCA went dark on November 15, 2016, as it moved to new studios; it returned in May 2017 with a simulcast of "Boston's Irish Channel", the HD2 channel of sister station WBQT, as it was believed that WRCA was in the process of signal testing. The station was also paired with an FM translator, W291CZ (licensed to Boston) at 106.1 MHz.
  129.
  130. On July 3, 2017, Bloomberg L.P. and Beasley announced that WRCA/W291CZ would begin carrying Bloomberg Radio programming (which moved over from WXKS) beginning the following day. Concurrently, the HD2 channel of WBOS began to simulcast WRCA's programming.
  131.

  133. WNBP (1450 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Newburyport, Massachusetts, United States and serving the Greater Boston radio market. The station is owned by Bloomberg L.P. and simulcasts AM 1300 WRCA Watertown, Massachusetts. WNBP and WRCA carry financial news from Bloomberg Radio.
  134.
  135. WNBP has a power of 1,000 watts. The transmitter is off Ferry Road in Salisbury, Massachusetts. Its programming is simulcast on a 225-watt FM translator, 106.1 MHz W291CC, transmitting from Haverhill. It shares a tower on Observatory Avenue with WCCM 1490 AM.
  136.
  137. On March 10, 1958, WNBP signed on the air as a daytime only station at 1470 AM, owned by Puritan Broadcasting of Lynn, Massachusetts (The call letters represented NewBuryPort.) Puritan also owned WLYN (1360 AM) and WLYN-FM (101.7), as well as stations in Brattleboro, Vermont, and Nashua, New Hampshire. In 1982 the station moved to 1450 kHz, added nighttime operation and changed call letters to WCEA. In 1987 the call letters were changed to WNCG; they returned to WNBP in 1991.
  138.
  139. On July 28, 2017, Port Broadcasting agreed to sell WNBP and W291CC to Bloomberg L.P. for $1 million; Bloomberg began operating the station under a local programming and marketing agreement on August 1. The station began to simulcast Bloomberg Radio programming with WRCA (1330 AM); that station also operates a translator at 106.1 MHz, which is required to limit its signal to the northeast of Boston to protect W291CC. As a result of the sale, WNBP's staff was let go. The sale was completed on November 28, 2017.

  142. KNEW (960 AM) is an American business news radio station licensed to Oakland, California, which serves the San Francisco Bay Area. The station is owned by iHeartMedia. The station's studios are located in SoMa district of San Francisco, and the transmitter is located in Oakland at the eastern end of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. KNEW can also be heard in the HD format.
  143.
  144. KABL began in Oakland as KFWM under the ownership of the Oakland Educational Society on July 8, 1925. The Oakland Post-Enquirer wanted a radio station to compete with the Oakland Tribune's KLX. This station became KROW in June 1930, and used those call letters until 1959. It was a full-service station known for launching the career of comedian Phyllis Diller and for helping the career of "the world's greatest disc jockey" Don Sherwood, prior to his great career at KSFO.
  145.
  146. On September 28, 2004, 960 AM dropped the adult standards programming and the KABL call letters. Replacing KABL on September 28, 2004 were new call letters KQKE and a progressive talk format, branded as "960 The Quake". On August 13, 2007, Clear Channel changed the KQKE call sign to KKGN, with a repositioning as "Green 960" and initially with programming focused on environmental issues. On January 3, 2012, Clear Channel management changed KKGN to KNEW and shifted to a wider-based talk format. The move was part of a broader restructuring of talk programming in Clear Channel's San Francisco cluster. On January 2, 2014, Rush Limbaugh's daily syndicated program moved from KKSF to KNEW. At this point, KNEW dropped all progressive talk programs, as it flipped to conservative talk. On September 29, 2014, KNEW dropped conservative talk for business news programming provided by New York City-based Bloomberg Radio.
  147.

  149. WGAY (1260 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Washington, D.C., and serving the Washington metro area. The station is owned and operated by Bloomberg L.P. and carries financial news from Bloomberg Radio with some local news, weather and traffic reports. WGAY operates with 35,000 watts during the day and 5,000 watts at night. Its transmitter is off Brookville Road in Silver Spring, Maryland.
  150.
  151. 1260 kHz was the original home of WOL, which signed on in 1928. WOL was the Washington affiliate of the Mutual Broadcasting System during radio's "golden age" and fed the Fulton Lewis Jr. nightly newscast to the network.
  152.
  153. WOL made a programming and call sign swap with AM 1450 WWDC on February 20, 1950. That landed the WWDC call letters on 1260 AM for the rest of the century. During the 1960s, radio personalities such as Jimmy Dean and Fred Fiske had programs on this station. The format was middle-of-the-road. It staked out a place in radio and music history by being the first American radio station to play a Beatles song when it aired "I Want to Hold Your Hand" in December 1963.
  154.
  155. On November 20, 2017, Salem moved the talk programming, "Answer" branding, and WWRC callsign to 570 AM (the former WSPZ), which they had purchased from Red Zebra Broadcasting the prior May. The station spent two weeks airing a loop identifying itself as WSPZ and directing listeners to 570 AM. WSPZ then relayed the programming of Salem's WAVA-FM as a placeholder. A sale to Bloomberg L.P. was announced on March 1, 2018, at a purchase price of $750,000; Bloomberg began operating the station under a local programming and marketing agreement on March 5, 2018. The station began to carry Bloomberg Radio programming. The sale was completed on May 21, 2018. On May 14, 2019 the station changed its call letters to WGAY.
