Short Story 3rd Anniversary

This story happened in an alternate universe. For Reagan, it happened after he departed to look for the rest of the Veritas after Sophia passed away. For Rain, it happened right after his final battle with Sol which resulted in his presumed death. Reagan of the past met Rain of the future in an alternate universe.

Rain woke up in an unknown place after beating Sol. Rain met Queen Byarukua of country Mesarthim and saved her from a monster attack. She thanked him and said she was looking for her husband's sister Sheratan. According to her, Sheratan ran off alone to pick a type of very poisonous plant after hearing that they were out of stock. She wanted to deliver an antidote in case anything happened. Rain agreed to help her delvier the antidote and received a map to the whereabouts of the place.

Meanwhile, Reagan was searching for his comrades in Gonoroa and touched a farplane tablet stone, as guided by Sophia's crystal. Shortly after he got sent into an unknown place, he met Sheratan. After learning that Sheratan was on a very dangerous quest, he insisted to help. Then, Rain caught up and they were puzzled to see each other. Since Rain was much older than he was supposed to be for Reagan.

They quickly learnt that they were from different time. Sheratan offered that an ancient wand (Holy Wand) was said to hold the power of alternate worlds. It should be able to send them back to their own worlds. Sheratan led them back to the castle of Mesarthim.

In Mesarthim, Rain went to have an audience with Byaruka while Reagan went off to wait. According to Byarukua, King was jealous of Sheratan's ability as a strategist and wanted to get rid of her. That's how Sheratan got sent into such a dangerous mission. Then they got notified that Sheratan was poisoned. Byarukua quickly ordered to imprison the King, saying that it was necessary to protect Sheratan.

Meanwhile Reagan met Sheratan after hearing that she was poisoned. According to Sheratan, Byarukua was the one wanting to take her life. She would have died for sure if she hadn't met Reagan. Her tone was very pessimistic and accepted her fate as an unwanted existence. Then it came the news that her brother was imprisoned. Sheratan asked Reagan to save him from Byarukua.

Reagan met Rain guarding the prison and found out that the versions they heard did not match. They decided to ask the King for himself. According to the King, he was convinced that Sheratan wanted to kill him so he went into the prison just so he could be safe. Seemingly he was brainwashed by Byarukua. Learning that Sheratan could be in great danger, Reagan asked Rain to take Sheratan away from the castle while he distracted the soldiers.

Eventually they met up and Sheratan said Holy Wand was in the treasure vault of the old Mesarthim castle. The old castle was only known to the direct royal bloodline and Queen Byarukua never went there before. Also there was a town right next to it as protection as well as resources supply, Sheratan decided to hide there for the time being.

Eventually Byarukua caught up. Reagan asked Rain to go ahead and he would stall Byarukua and her soldiers. According to Byarukua, she hated the royalty and was disgusted at how high and mighty the King and Sheratan was.

While Rain and Sheratan were heading to the old castle, Sheratan got influenced by Rain's burning hope that he could change and shape his fate. As they reached the castle, Sheratan fell asleep. Shortly after, Reagan caught up and they had a conversation. Rain confided that he was mad that he got fooled by Byarukua so easily. Reagan consoled him that he was proud of his son that he became a splendid knight of Grandshelt.

Then they got interrupted by a moogle, who said that as a protector of Farplane, he had the duty to return Reagan and Rain to their own world. According to the moogle, although Holy Wand did have the power to connect other worlds, it may not return them to their correct time. And they would forget everything that happened there. While they were worried about Sheratan, she showed up and asked them to go. She had resolved to fight for her own fate, to plot revenge against Byarukua for Sheratan did not deserve being treated like that. Hearing that, they let Moogle sent them back into their own worlds.
