  1. Why Star Wars Episode IX Rise of Skywalker is Basically Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 3 Stardust Crusaders:
  2.
  3. Plot Setup:
  4.
  5. Episode IX
  6.
  7. A villain long thought dead and connected to our heroes returns through unknown means. This villain wants our heroes dead for yet unknown reasons. In response our heroes must travel across the galaxy to find an already known final destination and have their progress tested and slowed by agents sent out to stop them.
  8.
  9. Stardust Crusaders
  10.
  11. A villain long thought dead that had fought a member of the Joestar family decades ago returns to life. The Joestar family feel they must quest to defeat him in honor of their family legacy and to save that bloodline. As they travel to an already known final destination the villain sends out loyal agents that slow their progress and test their resolve.
  12.
  13.
  14. Specific Plot Beats (Spoilers for both Episode IX and Stardust Crusaders):
  15.
  16. Known enemy connected to our heroes comes back to life (Palpatine/Dio)
  17.
  18. Trip to final location doesn’t go as planned (Both would be short otherwise)
  19.
  20. Our heroes and villains fight each other using powers that only certain people can see/believe in (The Force/Stands)
  21.
  22. Our heroes grow familial bonds with people they have no blood relation to (Rey w/ whole crew/ Kakoyin, Avdol, Iggy, and Polnareff w/ Joestars)
  23.
  24. Blood connections can lead to visions of family members’ locations and actions (Leia reaching out to Kylo/ Joseph taking spirit photos of Dio who has his grandfather’s body)
  25.
  26. Trope of characters dying to teach our heroes a lesson (Leia helping Kylo come back to the light/ Kakoyin dying to reveal the secret of Dio’s stand)
  27.
  28. Trope of multiple heroes failing and being saved by one’s reckless actions (Finn saving the fleet by trying to sacrifice himself/ Pick almost any episode of the anime)
  29.
  30. Our hero’s powers prove to be the exact same power of the villains (Reys and Palpatine’s force lightening & other force connections/Jotoro and Dio’s ability to stop time)
  31.
  32. Main villain takes life energy from one of our protagonists to gain strength in the final showdown (Palpatine draining Rey & Kylo’s life force/Dio draining Joesph Joestar’s blood)
  33.
  34. Dead heroes pass one advice and guidance as spirits to our heroes on how to win the final fight (Rey & all the jedi/Joesph’s spirit & Jotoro)
  35.
  36. Main villain is defeated via what the hero has common with their enemy (Rey being all the Jedi vs Palpatine being all the Sith/Dio stopping time vs Jotoro stopping time)
  37.
  38. One hero brings another back to life through giving back what our villain had taken from them (Kylo giving Rey his life force Palpatine had sucked out/ Jotoro draining Joesph’s blood from Dio’s dead body to bring his grandfather back)
  39.
  40. Ending shot of hero looking into sky reminiscing about the friends / new family who helped get them there (Rey looking at the two suns after seeing Leia and Luke’s force ghost/ Jotoro looking at the picture of the group when they first got to Egypt)
  41.
  42. Most everything in each being very fast paced and absolute insane
  43.
  44. A droid in Episode 9 is literally named DIOOOOOOOOOOOO
  45.
  46.
  47. Themes:
  48.
  49. Family:
  50. How people connect to their family and how that connect lives on past their deaths (undying spirit in Star Wars, their undying body in Jojo’s)
  51.
  52. Family connections being more than just blood (Rey being Palpatine’s granddaughter does not make her a Palaptine as who she is and who she wants to be was informed by her new family of friends and supporters, Dio possessing Jonathan Joestar’s body does not make him a Joestar and the people who help the Joestars on their journey become like family)
  53.
  54. Family being something that never dies (The Skywalker’s will live on through Rey, Jonathan’s will and courage live on through his ancestor’s quest to defeat his former brother/enemy)
  55.
  56. Legacy:
  57. People being incredibly concerned with how their family will be remembered and how its important that they do that in a good light (The Skywalkers being honored / the Joestar’s whole journey starting to save their ancestor’s body)
