  1. (11:14:26 PM) ***Blueshift_North goes to find West to check on her.
  2. (11:15:55 PM) Ikiryo: It takes some searching, North being unfamiliar with the ship. Eventually she finds her in a very spartan looking bedroom, a futon laying on the floor and a small reading desk the only real furniture. There is a book on the table and North is laying on the futon, staring at the roof.
  3. (11:16:35 PM) ***Blueshift_North sits down next to her and waits for her to react.
  4. (11:19:08 PM) Ikiryo: She looks over at North, looking very tired. "Hello."
  5. (11:19:48 PM) Blueshift_North: "Hi."
  6. (11:24:17 PM) Ikiryo: She goes back to staring at the roof quietly...
  7. (11:25:17 PM) ***Blueshift_North lies down next to her.
  8. (11:26:02 PM) Ikiryo: "Is there something else you need?"
  9. (11:27:10 PM) Blueshift_North: "I mean, apart from being here if you need me?" A beat. "Sorry. Normally I'm on the other side of this."

  11. (11:29:51 PM) Blueshift_North: "The trying to help someone who's clearly dealing with like. A lot of stuff and it's really crawled into their brain in a bad way."
  12. (11:31:09 PM) Ikiryo: "It's...it's fine." She shakes her head. "I can keep going."
  13. (11:32:07 PM) Blueshift_North: "There's. . . more to being alive than just being able to keep going."
  14. (11:34:46 PM) Ikiryo: "It's the most important part." She bites her lip.
  15. (11:35:41 PM) Blueshift_North: "It's one of them, but it starts to lose it's meaning if that's all your doing. It took me. . . too long. To figure that out."
  16. (11:36:53 PM) Ikiryo: She shakes her head again. "I've got too many important things to do." Her voice sounds weak though.
  17. (11:37:30 PM) Blueshift_North: "One of them is figuring out how to be okay. West. I see what you're doing. I do this."

(11:43:05 PM) Blueshift_North: "Coming up with excuses why you're too busy to be a person, because you know that if you took a second to breathe all of the really terrible psychological shit you're pretending isn't wrong is going to catch up to you and you're going to be a wreck for a while and hey I have this work that needs to get done anyway."

  21. (11:46:15 PM) Blueshift_North: "Of what? Taking a second to deal with everything?"
  22. (11:46:42 PM) Ikiryo: "Of anything." She bites her lip hard enough to draw blood. "I tried so hard and just ruined everything..."
  23. (11:47:31 PM) Blueshift_North: "Stop it. You did not. You got caught up in the games of big bad superpowers playing shell games at a high level. Welcome to the club."

  25. (11:50:56 PM) Ikiryo: "I did. I tried to get the Abhorson's body to get you back...and I just led them to an entire cruise ship of people who I killed because I too sure I could do it safely. I've been working hard to try and keep Cryx and the Quori away from people and it's all starting to call apart...literally nothing I did to try and help has gone right."

  38. (12:11:27 AM) Blueshift_North: "I'm saying you need to make friends. And to make friends you need to find a place to do it. You want to learn magic? Fine. I will find you magic classes. You can go to. And you will learn to be a magician."
  39. (12:12:53 AM) Ikiryo: "...but the important things. I keep screwing it up but...I need to keep trying."
  40. (12:14:27 AM) ***Blueshift_North walks over and rests her hands on her sister's shoulders. "Okay. What important things need doing? How can I help you?"
  41. (12:14:44 AM) Ikiryo: "The Quori and Cryx and...everything..."
  42. (12:16:17 AM) Blueshift_North: "Okay. How can I help with the Quori? Kharia would be more than happy to help manage Cryx. It's kind of her job."
  43. (12:16:59 AM) Ikiryo: "If they learn the Puppeteer is gone, they'll freak out and start attacking to find him."
  44. (12:17:35 AM) Blueshift_North: ". . . They're already going to do that. Cygnar's started boxing them up."
  45. (12:18:58 AM) Ikiryo: "What...no...oh no..." She drops her head into her hands.
  46. (12:21:17 AM) Blueshift_North: "West. That's what I'm saying. Things are always bad. They're always about to get worse." She hugs her. "Always. So you do what you can. And please stop trying to justify how Cygnar doing something is your fault."
  47. (12:23:04 AM) Ikiryo: "But if I stop working on things and something happens I could have stopped..."
  48. (12:23:50 AM) Blueshift_North: "There will always be things you cannot stop. You can't be everywhere."
  49. (12:24:04 AM) Blueshift_North: A beat. "not even if you put a copy of you in all the spare bodies."
  50. (12:24:38 AM) Ikiryo: She nods...and starts crying loudly.
  51. (12:25:23 AM) ***Blueshift_North hugs her, tightly.
  52. (12:25:45 AM) Ikiryo: She cries loudly and without much dignity.
  53. (12:26:32 AM) ***Blueshift_North just holds her as long as she needs.
  54. (12:26:52 AM) Ikiryo: It's a good ten minutes of sobbing before she stops...
  55. (12:28:11 AM) ***Blueshift_North lets her calm down.
  56. (12:28:44 AM) Ikiryo: "Why?"

  58. (12:29:53 AM) Ikiryo: "Why are you doing this? We barely know each other and I've done nothing but make things worse."

Because if I didn't, I'd be letting a good woman destroy herself because she can't save everyone. Because I just learned that everyone who shares our genetic background has been genocided, and that's still a little raw. Because you're family, but more importantly: Because I chose to care about that, and you."

  64. (12:38:26 AM) Ikiryo: "We were made together but we've barely spent any time together...what value do I bring to your life?"
  65. (12:42:02 AM) Blueshift_North: "Objectively, very little. Technically I'm not the person who was put in the pod at the same time as all of you. But. . . I don't know. You matter to me. It's not like. An objective calculation."
  66. (12:45:32 AM) Ikiryo: She nods. "...thank you."
  67. (12:47:02 AM) Blueshift_North: "For what? Caring about someone? That's like. The only thing I'm good at."
  68. (12:50:09 AM) Ikiryo: "...you're doing better at most things than I am."
  69. (12:54:43 AM) Blueshift_North: "I couldn't have kept this ship together. I couldn't have fooled Shadowman and every Quori for as long as you did. I can't get along with East. THere's plenty you can do that I can't. We're different people. We're good at different things."
  70. (12:55:04 AM) Ikiryo: "Thank youn." She bites her lip.
  71. (12:56:07 AM) Blueshift_North: "For what? I told you. Caring about people is kind of my whole thing."

  73. (12:58:11 AM) Blueshift_North: "Well you're not bad at it either."
