  1. [23:04:14] (One) Jeanie wisps: By popular request, the AM Council is running the "A$10,000 for your project" scheme again! Suggest a project that makes the Disc a better or more interesting place, and receive funding for your project and an additional prize for yourself.
  2. [23:04:39] (One) Django wisps: hiring more ocders?
  3. [23:04:51] (One) Django wisps: coders*
  4. [23:05:11] (One) Ridget wisps: more witch spells :D
  5. [23:05:29] (One) Ridget wisps: ill even write them ;)
  6. [23:05:32] (One) RadioSilence wisps: turn the hippo into a football stadium
  7. [23:05:50] (One) Jeanie wisps: You may want to check the details on the Frog and AM Council boards. :P We are not hiring creators.
  8. [23:05:52] (One) Hoax wisps: Turn everyone PK.
  9. [23:05:57] (One) Camelion wisps: I would like to suggest the Extreme Teaparty project.
  10. [23:06:00] (One) Milady wisps: war between cities.
  11. [23:06:45] (One) Camelion wisps: 'event view Extreme Teaparty'
  12. [23:07:40] (One) Hoax wisps: Will I see DEATH in the party, Camelion?
  13. [23:07:48] (One) Django wisps: why are we not hiring cres? the ones we have pretty much explain on a daily basis they lack the time or the skills to even finish the code that's already here! Genua's got 10+ "creator only" rooms flagged from the basicc map that will NEVER have anything done with them at this rate
  14. [23:07:49] (One) Tetrikitty wisps: I'd like to suggest the "Give Tetrikitty 10,000 Dollars Project" project.
  15. [23:08:05] (One) Camelion wisps: If things go, ah, recklessly.
  16. [23:08:53] (One) Jeanie wisps: The creators hire creators, the players hire players. Simple as that. :)
  17. [23:08:55] (One) Camelion wisps: What would be the measurable outputs of this project, Tetrikitty?
  18. [23:09:08] (One) Camelion wisps: I would like to hire 5000 $2 players.
  19. [23:09:32] (One) Vashti wisps: Helicopter money?
  20. [23:09:35] (One) Hoax wisps: I'll do it!
  21. [23:09:39] (One) Pit wisps: We -are- hiring creators.
  22. [23:09:41] (One) Django wisps: if that's minimum wage you'd have 5000 people making chars for 15 minutes apiece
  23. [23:09:46] (One) Hoax wisps: Give me my $2.
  24. [23:09:47] (One) Pit wisps: I hired one just two weeks ago.
  25. [23:09:57] (One) Tetrikitty wisps: well, in my expert opinion, Tetrikitty can potentially be as exciting as 5,000 players, but only if adequately funded.
  26. [23:10:00] (One) Camelion wisps: Best I can do is about $3.5, Hoax.
  27. [23:10:15] (One) Vashti wisps: That actually could be an interesting project, picking say 10 newbies to receive 1k or 20 to receive 500, except you could never confirm someone was really a newbie.
  28. [23:10:19] (One) Talcier wisps: In my expert opinion, Tetrikitty needs to be funded with tickles and huggles.
  29. [23:10:34] (One) Hoax wisps: $3.5 is a very odd bill...
  30. [23:10:39] (One) Camelion wisps: I dare you to give her a belly rub.
  31. [23:11:09] (One) Talcier wisps: I like my hands...
  32. [23:11:11] (One) Django wisps: good to hear it, Pit! Are they immediately working on code for the post office, emotes, or just going to be working on colours for the default term settings?
  33. [23:11:27] (One) Talcier wisps: We do need more colours.
  34. [23:11:31] (One) Ridget wisps: no hugger? awww :(
  35. [23:11:34] (One) Talcier wisps: There is definitely not enough.
  36. [23:11:34] (One) Pit wisps: Neither, of course.
  37. [23:11:36] (One) Hops wisps: I think Jeanie meant that the AM council doesn't hire creators, the creators hire creators :)
  38. [23:11:37] (One) Hoax wisps that he wants colourful fireworks please!!
  39. [23:11:41] (One) Talcier wisps: Isn't there only like 10000 now?
  40. [23:11:43] (One) RadioSilence wisps: yeah
  41. [23:11:45] (One) Pit wisps: Newbie creators do not yet have the skill to work on ay of those.
  42. [23:11:48] (One) RadioSilence wisps: fireworks display
  43. [23:11:49] (One) Hoax wisps that he serious.
  44. [23:11:52] (One) Hoax wisps: is.
  45. [23:12:09] (One) Pit wisps: Well, perhaps to work on the post office. But I wouldn't do that to a newbie -- too much player-induced stress.
  46. [23:12:17] (One) Django wisps: would you hire me? I'll be happy to build the Klatchian jungle
  47. [23:12:32] (One) Talcier wisps: I think the trick is to apply, not just ask...
  48. [23:12:51] (One) Pit wisps: Nope, as you don't have the attitude to be a creator. However, if you wish toc write the descriptions for the jungle, you are certainly welcome to do so. :) What would be the point of this project, though?
  49. [23:13:09] (One) Hops wisps: You've got to apply. Applicants have to have someone to vouch for them though, or I'd have already applied years ago!
  50. [23:15:39] (One) Django wisps: why would I volunteer to help you with anything when you come back with a snark like 'poor attitude'? Hardly professional, Pit. And why? Why not? It's at least representative of Latinos in Pratchetterian-style, whereas nothing else here seems to be. Equal representation, neh?
  51. [23:16:11] (One) Jeanie wisps: Is there a problem with applying? If you have been playing the Disc for a while you should know people who'd vouch for you. Theoretically... I never tried. :)
  52. [23:17:18] (One) Tetrikitty wisps: I'm not sure this can really be interpreted as an equal representation issue
  53. [23:17:22] (One) Hops wisps: I haven't been very involved with the community, Jeanie :) I know a few players but I don't know if any would want to go so far as to vouch for me.
  54. [23:17:23] (One) Django wisps: why would anyone apply confronted with an attitude where even volunteering is not enough to counterweight another person's impression of your attitude without having even spoken to you in person
  55. [23:18:05] (One) Pit wisps: I apologise for answering that question on a public channel. I should not have done so.
  56. [23:18:22] (One) Talcier wisps: As much as I tend to agree with Pit, I do have to say I think the proper process should be followed to find out more about a person and their attitude rather than an outright no without due course.
  57. [23:18:35] (One) Pit wisps: But to explain a bit better: snarking about creators not doing specific things on (One) is hardly likely to make them want you for a colleague. :P
  58. [23:19:03] (One) Tetrikitty wisps: like, do you want to sort of cut up the disc map in equal slices and make each bit just the same size as a roundworld counterpart?
  59. [23:19:20] (One) Tetrikitty wisps: doesn't seem practical, or true to the original work, or interesting
  60. [23:19:31] (One) Pit wisps: And yes, if you go through proper channels you may be hired. However, if the application has the form "creators suck for not doing X,Y,Z" then the chance is rather small.
  61. [23:20:04] (One) Talcier wisps: Oh I'm not disputing that, or the likelihood that your assessment was right
  62. [23:20:07] (One) Talcier wisps: Just the approach
  63. [23:20:25] (One) Talcier wisps: But I can understand being unhappy about that sort of attitude
  64. [23:20:42] (One) Erekose wisps: er isnt DW social satire? im not sure issues like equal representation are to be taken seriously here
  65. [23:20:43] (One) Uheel wisps: idea reps are a good alternative
  66. [23:21:01] (One) Talcier wisps: Player, liaison, creator, anyone has the right to be offended at digs.
  67. [23:21:03] (One) Pit wisps: I'm not sure what the complaint of equal representation was.
  68. [23:21:06] (One) RadioSilence wisps: not always erekose, take raising steam, thats nothing but anvil dropping
  69. [23:21:13] (One) RadioSilence wisps: or thud
  70. [23:21:15] (One) RadioSilence wisps: or jingo
  71. [23:21:24] (One) Pit wisps: I honestly have no clue what race anyone here has except for the ones I met -- and in most cases, I don't know gender either.
  72. [23:21:32] (One) RadioSilence wisps: ooh, equel rites
  73. [23:21:33] (One) Django wisps: I've played here for 15 years and evidently it's not enough to outweigh Pit's negative opinion of some of my responses to dialogues on here. And Pit, you're the one who admits frequently to lacking the capability, time or wherewithall to engage in most coding projects. I just want to see the Disc get better. I've long thought the Klatchian jungle would be an excellent and highly challenging area not only to build, but to include new hunting elements.
  74. [23:22:09] (One) Zeek wisps: "why do you want to apply for a creator?" "I wanna make the mud a better place." "Oh, se you think the creators suck?" "Umm, no."
  75. [23:22:19] (One) Tetrikitty wisps: you have to admit you were really confrontational, django
  76. [23:22:23] (One) Django wisps: If you haven't read Eric I would believe your statement about races - but it also depresses me to realize how few players, or even cres, are big fans
  77. [23:22:48] (One) Django wisps: I'll confront anything head-on when people skirt around an issue openly.
  78. [23:22:55] (One) Pit wisps: Django: What exactly are you saying about race? I am very confused.
  79. [23:23:01] (One) Camelion wisps: Extreme Teaparty in a week, woo...
  80. [23:23:09] (One) Exote wisps that he puts the kettle on.
  81. [23:23:16] (One) Pit wisps: Yay tea. :)
  82. [23:23:26] (One) Talcier wisps: I'm pretty sure Pit classes as a fan of the books...from what I've seen
  83. [23:24:00] (One) Pit wisps: I haven't read the last two or so yet. :(
  84. [23:24:06] (One) Lightblade wisps that he munches on popcorn
  85. [23:24:13] (One) Talcier wisps that he gasps.
  86. [23:24:16] (One) Exote wisps: I think Raising Steam was one of my favorites...
  87. [23:24:22] (One) Talcier wisps: I'm afraid we'll have to fire Pit
  88. [23:24:23] (One) Pit wisps: I'm a fan, but I don't have bookshelf-space.
  89. [23:24:24] (One) Camelion wisps: Really, Exote? How come?
  90. [23:24:25] (One) Talcier wisps: Out of a cannon
  91. [23:24:27] (One) Talcier wisps: Into the sun
  92. [23:24:33] (One) Camelion wisps: Pit, may I suggest an e-reader? :)
  93. [23:24:49] (One) Talcier wisps: You can't rely on Discworlf *e-books*.
  94. [23:24:50] (One) Pit wisps: I have an e-reader! Do you know a place where I can buy these books without DRM?
  95. [23:24:56] (One) Talcier wisps: As a handy backup sure
  96. [23:25:00] (One) Jeanie wisps: Pit was probably too busy coding stuff for the MUD. :)
  97. [23:25:03] (One) Talcier wisps: But Discworld should be hardcopy primarily!
  98. [23:25:04] (One) Exote wisps: As much as I hate to admit it, I fell into the e-reader pit (ahah) as well...
  99. [23:25:05] (One) Camelion wisps: Ah, I don't.
  100. [23:25:08] (One) Talcier wisps: Otherwise, blasphemy!
