- What the hell is this?
- It's a real-time strategy game... with RPG elements... based on a card game. Yeah. Admittedly this game isn't much more than a novelty, but as a fan of classic Yu-Gi-Oh! I was able to enjoy it enough that I wanted to speedrun it.
- It's a really simple and, quite frankly, really easy run to do; there's nothing to it. The only decent speed techs in this game are manipulations: manipulating enemy teams on the map to move out of Yugi's way and inflicting damage to monsters in battle to prevent them from using their items--things that aren't too hard to pick up on quickly. (Well, "Strategy" isn't exactly the most intuitive mission, I suppose.)
- Can't you speed up the movement?
- There is no option to increase the speed, unfortunately. :( That's why I call this game "The Slowest Three Hours in Speedrunning." Fortunately I can put monsters in the Leader spot that move the fastest on the map; that's why Horn Imp and Ansatsu are good for Yugi's team.
- <insert obligatory Yu-Gi-Oh! RNG question here>
- Honestly, there really isn't that much RNG that can wildly affect the outcome of any given battle. Yes, critical hits and damage ranges are a thing, but crits are rare and not crucial, and there are only a couple of battles I can think of where getting high damage rolls would be a huge benefit. (Kaiba and possibly the Gate Guardian HYPE battle)
- Streamer, what's WR?
- >Implying that anyone else would run a game this slow. LEL
- Then again, IIRC, SSBMstuff mentioned once that he had interest in running this game. It has been months since I remember him saying that, though, so I could be completely talking out of my ass.
- Will you be running the Kaiba and Joey stories?
- That's the plan.
- At the moment, though, Kaiba's story as a New Game is making it difficult. The Kaiba team's roster of monsters has very little depth; a possible side-effect of that is that running away from battles in your home base has been more difficult. That's really bad because Kaiba has several longer missions in his story. Also, Gold is actually a thing in the early-game you have to route around since you have access to good Equip items early on. And the final insult to injury is that there is a super special awesome secret monster you can encounter (Moisture Creature) that's really strong and can make the rest of the battles A LOT FASTER--especially since you can get items to Equip him and boost his already massive Attack--but the reported setup to encounter him is very convoluted. In fact, I've never encountered him myself, much less figured out a setup to find him in a decent amount of time. I will keep working on it, though.
