48. Jin Kazama witnesses the death of his mother Jun by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. After finding a Tekken ID he decides to seek out vengeance for his mother's death.
 49. The year is 2039. World wars have destroyed everything and territories are run by corporations, the mightiest -- and cruelest -- of which is Tekken. Jin Kazama (John Foo) witnesses the death of his mother Jun (Tomita) by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. Vowing vengeance, and armed only with his street smarts and raw fighting skills, he enters a dangerous and potentially deadly combat tournament, where he must defeat the world's most elite fighters to become the "King of the Iron Fist."
 50. Having just seen this movie, i have to say. Huh, not too shabby.

Its sure no masterpiece and cant be compared to other big names. However, it does serve its purpose. And that being the background story of one single character from the Tekken franchise.

It is the same with Game-to-movie adaptations as it is vice versa. The game is great and well known, the movie, doesn't even come close.

For instance: Matrix. While the movies have been Blockbusters, the game has provided background information, while not standing out at all.

It is also kind of sad, to see only a little of the main characters background and nearly none of his mother being a Tekken fighter, as well as nothing about the other fighters in the Iron Fist Tournament.

Also, a lot of story is only mentioned in fly by conversations, that makes the story feel so rushed, and does not make you want to cheer for anyone.

The same problem that Clash of the Titans had, this movie has. Not enough time to unfold.

My verdict is: Only see, if you know the game. Its is mediocre at best compared to other Hollywood movies. And it does not quite reach the quality of Dead or Alive (yet another game-to-movie adaptation). But it entertains enough to see, as mentioned, if you know and played the Tekken games. And for being a quite good game adaption, i give this movie 7/10 and feel grateful, that Uwe boll had no part in it.
 51. First, I am a big fan of the Tekken video game. For me the world's best fighting game is the Tekken series. I watched the movie last night, when I first saw Jin, I knew that something was wrong. In the game Jin was a strong character, but in the movie he was just a weak little boy.

When I see a movie which based on a game, my first looking is to how similar the movie characters with the game characters. Here is horrible the situation, only Heihachi Mishima and the girls look the same as the game :(,but the behavior was not even the same. Even not my favorite character's Bryan Fury. I think actors have to play before the game to find out how people are formed by it, and then play his/her role. For this have I give 3/10.

About the movie: Apart from these, the movie is good. Have some action scene, and fight, not so many but enough.

Sorry, for my advise to the big fan's is not to expect too much, because they will be easily disappointed.

 53. By 2039, much of the world has been destroyed by World Wars and civilization is on the brink. What's left are territories that are no longer run by governments, but by corporations, the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses subdued and entertained, Tekken sponsors an annual Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters from across the globe compete to the death for ultimate glory and a lifetime guarantee of wealth and fame. Jin Kazama is a street fighter who enters the tournament to avenge the death of his mother which he blames on Tekken's powerful chairman, Heihachi Mishama. The only way for him to get close enough to Mishama is if he wins the tournament, but he soon discovers that he needs more than just street fighting experiences to get him through the bloodbath. With the help of Lucas, an aging Iron Fist Champion and trainer, Jin makes his way through the levels of the tournament. In doing so, he also begins to uncover hidden bits of his own past, full of his own inner demons, as well as a revelation about the dark underbelly of Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity. Tekken is based on an arcade game series of the same name by Namco Corp, a Japanese video game developer and publisher. The game series was adapted for the movie by screenwriters Michael Colleary, Alan B McElroy, and Mike Werb. No. Yes, he will carry the Devil Gene. However, it's rather realistic adaptation so there's no transformations. Some characters borrow very strongly from real life people, e.g., Marshall Law is based on Bruce Lee. Lei Wulong is based on Jackie Chan, Raven is based on Wesley Snipes, and Craig Marduk is based on Nathan Jones. a5c7b9f00b
