  1. The setting spans several realms orbiting a central one called The Core. These orbiting universes are called Black City, Gray City, and White City respectively.
  2.
  3. Black City lies in the outermost ring. It's a dangerous and filthy place where few laws exist, but those that do are enforced very strictly. You may kill three people in one day. Kill more and the clockmakers will take you. The clockmakers are essentially the police force of Black City, although their true agenda is unknown. They reside in the Clocktower in the middle of Black City. Black City Station is another notable location within Black City. Here, new souls arrive by train presumably from The Core. This is how babies are made. Aside from all that, there's also Masochist Park and Sadist Avenue, places you definitely don't want to visit.
  4.
  5. Gray City lies in the middle ring, orbiting between Black City and White City. It is a middle ground between the hell of Black City and the paradise of White City. People go about their boring everyday lives similarly to the real world. There are places to hang out, like arcades and cafes and parks and such. There are shops of various themes. It's basically just the real world but with magic and everyone is some sort of weird freak with superpowers.
  6.
  7. White City is where the most powerful characters of The Rings live. Now, these may not necessarily be the most powerful in terms of ability to kick your face in with lasers. More often than not, it's people who have through clever manipulation of the system, or just through plain persistence, accumulated a large amount of wealth.
  8.
  9. All three of these rings may be seperate worlds in and of themselves, but one can travel from one to the other through a portal. Portals are generally maintained by the government of the ring they're in, and they can be found at certain key locations that see a lot of traffic. The technology that makes this possible is unknown to any inhabitants of The Rings, but they are presumed to be a gift of The Core.
  10.
  11. The Core is essentially the god of The Rings, although it doesn't seem to actually do anything. While it is a world just like the others, it is completely unaccessible through portals. Even those few who claim to have solved the mystery of the portals and have managed to create their own, have reported being unable to go to The Core, or indeed any other world that may exist out there. So it may be said that The Rings are in a way a prison and The Core is its warden.
  12.
  13. Ladies and gentlement, welcome to The Rings 2.0.
