Okay so he'll never be a scientist...

Covet: Kelsey pulled up to the dorms, she had work to do at the recording studio and had left Connor in Brad's hands. She pulled her car up to her normal parking spot and climbed out to find out where Connor and Brad were at.
Alexithymiaa: -Brad was standing outside, a number of items and ingredients lined up along the curb in the parking lot. In his hand was a 2 liter bottle of diet coke which he was in the process of removing the cap. "You stay back, okay? This one gets big." Pulling the packaging of mentos out of his pocket, he dropped a couple in and loosely screwed the cap back on, watching the bottle start to foam up before eventually shooting the cap off up into the air to make a soda volcano.-
Covet: Kelsey smiled watching them but stayed back because she didn't want soda splatters on her outfit. "Wow, looks like you guys are having fun." She said tucking her hands into the pockets on her vest. // "WOAH! Look at it Dad!" Connor said then nodded, "Yeah, we're making things explode!"
Alexithymiaa: -Brad took a few big steps back to stand next to Connor as they watched the soda explode into their air, mimicking the sound with his lips obnoxiously. "Yeah! We're doing science!" He added to Kelsey to try to make it sound like it wasnt just about exploding things even though it very much was.-
Covet: "Right... So you explained to Connor why the candy makes the carbonation in the soda become unstable?" Kelsey asked as she walked over to them once the soda fountain was over. // Connor looked up at Brad, "Why does it make the soda shoot up Dad?" He asked because well now he had to know.
Alexithymiaa: "Oh... uhh.... well it's a reaction." He said with a lot more confidence than he actually had, nodding his head. He had no fucking idea. "Right Momma? Why don't you tell him about the reaction."-
Covet: "Nope. You wanted to get into science with him, this is all on you. I covered math yesterday." Kelsey said putting her hands up because this is Dad homework that he should have thought of.
Covet: *// Connor looked between them. " A reaction to what?"
Alexithymiaa: "Right... well... uhh..." He paused, staring at the still bottle in the parking lot and making a quick decision to just make something up on the spot to avoid looking like a dumbass. "It's a chemical reaction. Because the soda has all those bubbles which is carbon dioxide and the candy has uh... baking soda in it. It's an acid."-
Covet: "Google is your friend by the way. I can't tell you how many things I look up to explain to him." Kelsey said giving him a pat on the shoulder, then leaned in, "It's okay to admit you don't know. You can find out together." She said with a nudge. // Connor looked at him. " I don't know what Carbon oxide even is." He said now confused because they weren't exploding things.
Alexithymiaa: "I don't need to Google it. I know." He retorted defiantly, continuing to LIE. "Carbon dioxide is what you breathe out. So you take a deep breath in and you take in oxygen, and when you breathe out, you breathe out carbon dioxide which your body doesn't need."-
Covet: Kelsey crossed her arms over her chest. Knowing the slew of questions that were going to start coming out of Connor's mouth. // "So people breath into soda to give it bubbles?" Connor asked Brad.
Alexithymiaa: "Well.... no...." He paused, trying to back peddle a little. "It's like.... water. You know how water comes from a lot of different places? Like the sink and the sky and the ocean? Well carbon dioxide comes from a lot of places too."-
Covet: Kelsey pursed her lips to keep her grin to herself. She nodded her head because that was probably the most correct thing he'd said so far. // "Yeah..but how do they get it into the soda and why does it shoot up when you put candy in it?" Connor asked going over to inspect the bottle.
Alexithymiaa: "They get it into the bottle with pressure. And... it's a chemical reaction with the candy when you put the candy in the fresh bottle. You know what, let's explode something else." He said quickly, trying to avoid further questions about the science he didnt know about. "Do you want to do the volcano?"-
Covet: Kelsey shook her head, disappointed in Bradley's attempt entirely. // Connor was very confused now "But does the soda do it with other candy too?" He asked because now he was stuck on this.
Alexithymiaa: "No it's just that candy because of the baking soda." He said again even though there's no fucking baking soda in mentos you dumbass. "Look, I'll show you how it works." He poured baking soda into the shallow cup he'd brought out and then grabbed the bottle of vinegar to pour in, watching it bubble up and pour over the sides of the cup. "See?"-
Covet: Kelsey shook her head because he was wrong, so very wrong. // Connor watched him and frowned, "I dunno Dad, there's no vinegar in soda. I know the baking soda works with it, but if we put the baking soda in the other soda would it get all fizzy like that?"
Alexithymiaa: "Why don't we try it?" He asked, holding out the box of baking soda to Connor. "Try putting it in that bottle there. And let Momma help you." He knew it would at least bubble and fizz up if it doesn't explode and he could bullshit that.-
Covet: Kelsey walked over and helped Connor, knowing the reaction wasn't going to be the same, but was willing to give it a shot for them none the less. "For science?" she asked as she helped Connor pour the baking soda into the bottle of soda. // Connor watched and stepped back because he was expecting a big mess, but the soda only kind fizzed up and spilled everywhere on the groud without the big explosion like with the mentos.
Alexithymiaa: -Watching the reaction, he crossed his arms over his chest, nodding his head like he had expected that to happen. "See, that's because it's not concentrated like the candy. There's more packed into such a small space with the candy thaat's why it explodes so much bigger."-
Covet: "Bradley..." Kelsey said then shook her head, "Maybe... it's better if we clean up all this mess for tonight. I'm sure you boys are sticky and need to wash up anyways, and it's getting close to bedtime." She said because she could only take so much bad science. // Connor frowned as he looked at the bottle then at Brad, "I dunno, I think it has to do with there not being vinegar in it." He said then looked at Kelsey, "Okay Momma"
Alexithymiaa: "That's a good idea. You're right, it's late. We had enough science for one night. Maybe next time we'll get other stuff to do science with." He said, a little relieved to not have to keep answering questions and explaining things.-
Covet: "C'mon." Kelsey said as she helped them gather some things to help get rid of the trash. // Connor went about getting his things picked up then started to head in so he could get washed up.
Alexithymiaa: -He grabbed some of the trash and pitched it into the outdoor bin, dusting his hands off and moving over to Kelsey. "I don't think I did a bad job, right?"-
Covet: "Eh.. You tried, that's all that counts right." Kelsey said with a smile. "But... for the future. you're either going to have to do your dad homework, or leave the teaching to the professionals." She told him giving him a pat on the back.
Alexithymiaa: "I didn't want to teach, I just wanted to explode things. That wasnt my fault that I was unprepared for his questions. Don't patronize me." He grabbed the roll of paper towels he'd brought outside, ripping off a few to wipe off his hands. "Do you think you could have done a better job?"-
Covet: "But you're the patriarch... I feel like that comes with the title." Kelsey said with a smirk. "Well, whenever I don't know something I defintely don't try to bullshit my way through it, because that's not going to help him. We tend to look it up and learn something new together." She said with a shrug, because she's been doing the mom thing for a while.
Alexithymiaa: "But then he's going to think I'm dumb or something. I don't want him to think I dont know things, I want him to think I know everything." he whined, beginning to head into the lobby.-
Covet: "He's not going to judge you for not knowing Brad." Kelsey said with a laugh. "And he already knows that we don't know everything." She said walking in as well.
Alexithymiaa: "Well I dont want him to know that I dont know everything. I want him to look up to me and think I'm the smartest person he knows. That's how dads are supposed to be."-
Covet: "He still looks up to you. You're his Dad. And Smart Dad's know that they don't know everything. Besides, Learning with him is a lot more fun than teaching him. I promise." Kelsey said as she headed towards her Dorm to check on Connor and make sure he was ready to be tucked in.
Alexithymiaa: "I don't know... I looked up to my dad growing up thinking he was the smartest man on the planet. As I got older things changed, but as a little kid? He was it. He was the guy."-
Covet: "But do you really want to be like your dad? Or do you want to be like you? Either way Connor is going to look up to you, you know that right?" Kelsey said.
Alexithymiaa: "I don't know, I always thought my dad was a great dad. I wouldnt mind being like him. He did a good job with us. Or at least I thought he did anyway. My sister did turn out to be a bitch, so maybe not." He shrugged as he headed into the common area, heading toward the bathroom to get washed up.-
