- The second Chi-Ri medium tank prototype featured a massively enlarged turret, purpose-built to house the auto-loading [Experimental TypeII Model I 75mm Tank Gun](https://i.imgur.com/MkHEGqJ.png). The Chi-Ri prototypes were medium tanks by all means but dimensions: the tank was roughly the size of the German King Tiger. The tray loading system gave an impressive average firerate of 18rpm, but was over-complex and unreliable. This Chi-Ri prototype did not pass trials.
- The tank design was completely revised to be more practical, and in 1945 entered service as Type5 Chi-Ri. 5 were produced in the first 3 months of 1945, for a total of 7 'Chi-Ri' tanks built from 1944-1945.
