  1. >The bell for lunch time finally rings.
  2. >You rush to pack your bag and make way for the door.
  3. >Thank god you aren't getting held up again for some stupid reason.
  4. >Because today's the day you have your lunch "date" with Natsuki!
  5. >You can still hear her scolding you for referring to it as a date.
  6. >Speeding through the halls like a bullet, you finally reach the cafeteria.
  7. >Natsuki is waiting outside the main entrance for you.
  8. >"Took you long enough."
  9. >Her arms are crossed, her face as stern as usual.
  10. "Come on! The bell just rang."
  11. >"Hmph!"
  12. >She turns and heads into the cafeteria with you in tow.
  13. >The two of you get in line for food.
  14. >Exchanging idle chit-chat about this, that and the other.
  15. >Natsuki is the first to have her tray filled with shitty school food.
  16. >You're up next. Deciding to pass on extra cauliflower since even the sight of it turns your nose.
  17. >You turn to exit the queue and into the wide, wild west that is the sitting area.
  18. >The two of you scan the room for two seats across from each other.
  19. >"Over there, in the corner."
  20. >Natsuki points to a half empty table.
  21. >You start walking towards it, praying no one else sits down so the two of you can eat in peace.
  22. >Suddenly Natsuki trips on something, falling forward.
  23. >She lands on the ground, tray clattering on the floor and food going everywhere!
  24. >Natsuki just lays there. Her face lying in a pile of mash potato.
  25. >The entire cafeteria erupts into hysterical laughter.
  26. >You see her chest rise and fall as she sighs slowly.
  27. "Natsuki!"
  28. >You quickly set your tray down somewhere, before kneeling down next to her.
  29. >Her face turns to you, caked in mash. Expression is completely blank.
  30. >You reach a hand out to her.
  31. "Here, get up."
  32. >"I-I don't need your help.."
  33. >She lifts herself off of the ground and starts walking away from you quickly.
  34. >You watch her for a moment, before running after her.
  35. >She sprints out of the cafeteria and down the hallway.
  36.
  37. >As you turn the corner after her, you catch a glimpse of her disappearing into the girl’s toilets.
  38. >You approach the doorway and listen closely.
  39. >Natsuki chose a particularly quiet part of the building, so it’s not hard to make out her sobs masked behind running water.
  40. “Hey, Natsuki.”
  41. >”Go away!”
  42. “I’m not-”
  43. >”You’re just gonna laugh at me like everyone else! Fuck off!”
  44. >You sigh.
  45. “Is anyone in there with you?”
  46. >”N-No, why?”
  47. >This risk had better be worth it.
  48. >You quickly glance down both ends of the hallway, before darting into the girl’s bathroom.
  49. >Natsuki is standing over the sinks, staring at herself in the mirror.
  50. >”The hell?! Get out you perv!”
  51. >You ignore her protests and approach her.
  52. “Natsuki.”
  53. >She throws a fist at you, which you catch with ease.
  54. “I’m not going to laugh at you, Natsuki.”
  55. >”Yes you are!”
  56. “Look at me, I’m not even smiling about it.”
  57. >Natsuki’s watery eyes look up at you. She sighs.
  58. >”Then what do you want?”
  59. >Her gaze falls to the floor.
  60. >Natsuki’s face is still red with embarrassment. Tear stained cheeks under puffy, red eyes.
  61. >She sighs again, this time more unhappy.
  62. >”I’m the school laughing stock now, Anon.”
  63. >”Everyone’s gonna remember me as the girl that fell and landed in her mash potatoes.”
  64. >You grab a roll of toilet paper from one of the stalls as she continues to speak.
  65. >”Now no one’s going to want to be my friend at all.”
  66. >You choose your words carefully as you set about wiping Natsuki’s clothes off.
  67. “What about me? Or the others in the club.”
  68. “We’re your friends. Right?”
  69. >”Well..”
  70. >Natsuki chokes on her words.
  71. >You bin the dirty sheet of paper and rip a new one off. Beginning to wipe the tears from her face.
  72. >”I guess..”
  73. >With her clothes as clean as you can manage and her face dry. You put the toilet paper back where it belongs.
  74. “Look.”
  75. >You grab Natsuki’s shoulders firmly and look her dead in the eyes.
  76. “I’m your friend, Natsuki.”
  77. “And no silly accident is going to change that.”
  78.
  79. “Trust me.”
  80. >Her eyes begin to water again as she realises you mean every word you say.
  81. “And I don’t care if everyone else is laughing at me because I’m with you.”
  82. “I don’t give a damn what they think.”
  83. “You’re still my friend, and I’m gonna stick by you.”
  84. >The girl closes her eyes as more tears begin to roll down her cheeks.
  85. >She grabs you around the waist and hugs you tight.
  86. >”T-Thanks Anon..”
  87. >You wrap your arms around her.
  88. “Don’t mention it, Natsuki.”
  89. >”We should probably get out of here before you get caught.”
  90. “Good idea.
