- Oh hey this is just the same world ten years later. ...Frick, that means that the escalating assassination attempts ended up with Lobo being contracted to get me. Why the hell did it have to be Lobo? That guy is such a giant pain in the neck. He even survived being shot with the newly upgraded Black Barrel, as strange as that seemed, but... I suppose plot contrivances will be what they are. The only thing needed to stop him is the element of surprise and a very large hammer.
- Well. Survived is the wrong word. More like 'came back from'. Repeatedly. But this globe wasn't big enough for two of us, and I had the writing staff on my side.
- Also, a bunch of superpowered assholes decided they didn't like the way things were run and more or less staged a coup, taking the United States for themselves, only for the world to end up having a horrible disaster due to some genius deciding to probe between universes. Unfortunately, the Bleed detonated with ludicrous force, and happened to screw something up with the planet's orbit, throwing everything out of whack. The end result? Worldwide chaos and the local capes setting themselves up as warlords, whether benevolent or iron-fisted.
- And so I, my clones, Demona, and the Conspiracy set out worldwide to start working on fixing things. The Earth's orbit was slightly screwed, sure, but there are ways to fix that - it's more a matter of all the warlords warring with each other, people trying to overthrow them, and the environment going crazy as a result. So, we made inroads to the more sensible ones and began a program to create new ones. Genetic splicing, cybernetic enhancements, magical charms, whatever it took to get order and crush the more insane warlords.
- After that, it was a matter of infrastructure, and at that point we could go to the "standard uplift package". A universal currency made from tokens for the Sierra Madre vending machines, and making sure those machines were put in every friendly territory. Fast-tracking acceptance of cybernetics. Educational and professional training via sensation engine implant packages, augmentation to make baseline humans more durable to survive the weather issues early on. The particulars varied by each territory, but the broad strokes were pretty good, and being able to communicate with cities in a strange but very direct way meant I knew precisely what were the best ways to achieve my goals.
- From there, it was a matter of rebuilding cities, modifying and building on their infrastructure to bolster things such as the ozone layer and filter out radioactive particles, putting up walls and pushing the sea back beyond the former coasts, and then getting enough of the locals to get out and collect the asteroid belt and use it in combination with various science-y sounding technology to park it around the Earth to fix its orbit. By which I and the Conspiracy set up massive rituals around the world to fix the Earth's orbit and all of that was a smokescreen, but if you've got massive magical power, might as well flex your muscles to fix the world's problems, no?
- Also, yeah, I pretty much put a bullet in the head of the majority of the main cast members because they're almost all irredeemable assholes. Hero and villain alike. The Doctor went to rehab, Jenny Quantum was a good egg, but the majority of the others... ugh. Fcking Wildstorm. Call me an edge lord if you want, but am I wrong? I honestly don't think so.
- Wildstorm is worth being an edge lord when it comes to their "heroes". Some of them make Dogwelder look like a particularly sane boy scout.
