52. The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can.
 53. After SAO is finally over, everyone is finally able to relax and just enjoy playing their favorite games and MMORPGs. But out of nowhere, Kirito is asked to meet with a government agent who had previously investigated SAO. Kirito was then informed of a man seemingly killing players in the real world, by shooting them in a game. Then Kirito decides to investigate this. He enters the game Gun Gale Online (GGO for short), as usual, he befriends another player in GGO. Then secrets they're searching for fall right at their feet.
 54. So far I've seen the first dozen of episodes. It goes without saying that this anime is very beautiful and with strong memorable characters. I was hesitant at first to watch this because of the video game theme. But it's a very mature show for what is contrary to what it appears to be in first glance.

Teenage boy Kirito gets stuck in a futuristic MMO game and together with other players in his situation they have to beat the game to be set free or die in the real world.

It's not the typical action packed anime, although it could turn into another Naruto/Bleach/OnePiece of ridiculously overpowered action heroes, I think a better description so far would be a tragic romantic sci fi show. I can't remember when I've seen so many characters die in an anime in such a short succession.

Anyway don't miss this, I'm glad I didn't. There are very few animes these days that make me want to see forward for the next episode.
 55. Many of my friends who have watched this anime have suggested this to me.

After viewing a whole season of Attack on Titan, I anticipated that this will be as stellar as it should be. This average rating for the title on this website is a solid 8 out of 10, which is not that bad. So I hooked up my Crunchyroll account and started my second journey within the theme of the digital universe.

It was then I realized that this wasn't worth finishing, or even perhaps watching as well.

Now, to begin:

Frankly, I am clearly not a fan of ecchi. Viewing butt shots and up-skirt angles of female underwear was not a pleasant experience for someone like me who is new to watching anime. I sometimes question myself of how horrendous the writers could think of a girl who is nearly molested by a living plant. I get it, it's fan service, but not everyone's into that stuff.

Moving on to the concept, you may notice that it is clearly not original. It is strongly derivative of the Matrix franchise, but the only glaring difference is that aside from taking place within a dystopian civilization, it is merely taking place within a virtual reality video game. With a medieval-like setting.

What I dislike most about this anime's elements is how every female character falls in love and becomes infatuated with the main protagonist, Kirito. It begins to lose its suspense: that the players' lives are threatened by someone who clearly forgets the reason why. It's infuriating to realize how every episode gets sidetracked to ambiguous romance, or anything else that doesn't correlate to the main premise.

I can't really tell if the writers know how to entertain those who are new to anime. It is instead littered with fan service.

I disliked this anime. I have enjoyed the animation, aside from clichés. But the writers really should reconstruct the plot.
