Description: Nexti isn't a very large girl at all, standing at a mere 5'2", and beyond that she's rather thin and bony -- from the often sharp angles of her body to the (relative) gauntness of her face (including deep cheekbones), she's not [i]malnourished[/i] but it sure doesn't look like she eats a whole lot more than she absolutely has to, and altogether it can give her a bit of a sinister look. Her hair is an obsidian black, wavy, and tumbles down to her shoulders, and her eyes are grey -- a rather dark grey, and the way the light glances off of them sometime makes that grey look almost hazy, like smoke. She wears earrings, and upon closer inspection one would see that they appear to be made of simple, unadorned pottery rather than anything valuable. Her skin is slightly tanned.

As for clothing, Nexti's clothing is for the most part quite simple, but it's still a little bit of an assembly. The first piece of her clothing is a skirt that is medium in length, going down to her knees, but is prevented from being too encumbering thanks to a slit along the side that goes up to a few inches below her hips. Said skirt is largely dark grey in color, but faint swirls and designs along the fabric make it look like smoke -- albeit not purely because of tricks of the light like her eyes. The other main piece of her outfit is a sleeveless garment (the same color as her skirt, with the same swirls) that would be loose and billow out towards the end of her torso if not for the twin sashes keeping her skirt and her blouse fastened to her body, as well as providing a bit of a break from her monocolor scheme; the top sash, holding her blouse, is orange, whereas the bottom sash, holding her skirt, is red, butting up together to provide a two-color band. A series of orange and red lines also adorn her chest, making a highly stylized image of a broken altar. She wears a pair of gray evening gloves that reach up to around her shoulders that she wears at all times, even when sleeping -- they cover a set of cult tattoos, square and angular depictions of Grimm.

Personality: Nexti is not a very social person. As a matter of fact, the number of people who she finds herself able to comfortably communicate with is a small one, primarily restricted to the teammates she graduated with and perhaps a couple of other people here and there. This isn't to say that she's mute -- because she can talk to other people, especially after maturing throughout her time at the Academy, it's simply that those she isn't entirely comfortable with had better get used to quiet and terse. She also has an unfortunate tendency to, well, skulk, having few compunctions about eavesdropping on people or watching from around corners, etc., which certainly doesn't do a whole lot to help her reputation. This isn't a problem that she usually has had to deal with, but Nexti HATES ever being treated as above other people, and even being looked up to makes her rather uncomfortable. However quiet and shy she may be, Nexti is sharply analytical, and is likely to make good use of whatever information crosses her way -- she very rarely ever just ignores things, and is given to looking into just about anything she finds suspicious.

History: Often, when catastrophes strike people look for explanations, and sometimes those explanations can be found in the divine. Well, the world of Remnant has had an awful lot of catastrophes, and this holds truer for Vacuo than with pretty much any other nation in the world. Grimm, war, destruction, Vacuo is a hard place and has had a hard history. One of its tribes, the wandering Teotl tribe, found explanation for all of these terrible things in the divine -- the Grimm were agents of a powerful god. And though this is a belief often shared, the steps further the Teotl tribe are not. The Teotl tribe believed that all of this catastrophe that had been brought upon the world was the result of the god being angry. To prevent greater catastrophe down the line, the god had to be appeased -- and the ways to appease the god were through his agents. Offering people up to the Grimm, or inciting Grimm attacks upon settlements, were the primary ways to do so, death now to prevent apocalypse later. And because of this the Teotl tribe became as a raiding bandit tribe in effect, a danger and a cause of suffering.

Nexti Tezcatli was born into the Teotl tribe, a member of a family with rather high standing within the tribe. The Tezcatlis were, essentially, clergy, some of those responsible for ensuring the staving off of apocalypse. In practical terms, this meant they were some of the ones responsible for the carrying out of sacrifices to Grimm, and those who decided when raids needed to be carried out. Nexti's father Chiltic is someone with a lot of blood on his hands, and Nexti's brother Tlil grew up learning to do the very same. Nexti was a little bit of a different case. Thanks to her Semblance, she was taken to be something of a diviner -- truly, what she could see in smoke was proof of heavenly blessing! She was essentially kept around and used sometimes for religious rituals and sometimes for information. It was a life that didn't put much responsibility for work or for fighting onto her shoulders, and one that saw her at times practically worshipped.

But Nexti didn't stop seeing when weren't actively having her look for things. Whenever she saw smoke, she saw things -- it was automatic, a matter of her Semblance. And she saw quite a lot, whether it be in ritual fires, or from raided settlements. She saw violence, she saw death to Grimm, and she saw pain -- it was what the people she was surrounded with specializing in dealing, after all. And as she grew old enough to understand what she was seeing, she became disgusted and terrified by it, seeing the pain and suffering and blood and death, and coming to the realization that her tribe and everyone that she loved was evil. So despite her position of luxury, at the tender age of 11 she left, intending never to come back except maybe one day to stop them, come what consequences may.

Nexti ended up simply stowing away on a ship headed towards Mistral, deadset on abandoning the continent of Sanus -- what, after all, if the Teotl came after her and tried to find her? She didn't want to get killed by Grimm! It was very lucky that she was found and taken in by a team of Hunters -- a little girl alone and lost in Mistral probably wasn't going to make it without help. She ended up being more or less cared for by two of the kinder Huntresses of the team, Raspberry and Tyra, two people whose influences and care she desperately needed. She jumped for the chance to become a Huntress as soon as she could, thanks both to them and knowledge of what her own tribe was doing, and ended up joining Haven Academy and its precursor. She had a *very* difficult time adjusting to this entirely new place with its entirely new people, but with the help of her guardians and her team (which she would end up drawing quite close to) she would make it through.

Semblance: Smoking Mirror: Nexti can see visions of things happening in other places within smoke, which scales with the amount of smoke; she might see a wisp of some very nearby movement through a wisp of smoke, something of moderate importance happening within a kilometer's radius for a campfire, and in the smoke of a burning town she might see something of terrible importance happening far away. This also depends on the nature of the fire; fires set as a result of arson or fires killing people tend to show Nexti horrible things.
