  5. Dear Cheryl,
  6.
  7. Thank you for your reply. Thank you for escalating the issue about campus buses to the school management.
  8.
  9. However, I think that there is a more pressing issue - that a proportion of students are forced to attend their online lectures on campus because they have physical lessons right after. If you have noticed, all open study areas that have power plugs are taken up by students, a scene that is unique to this semester.
  10.
  11. Having students attend online lectures on campus would defeat the purpose of online lectures and would act to increase the number of students in school. This directly results in the overcrowded observed in open study areas and also in the libraries.
  12.
  13. Some measures I think would reduce the number of students attending online modules in campus are:
  14. 1. Make it mandatory for all online classes to be recorded regardless of faculty
  15. a. Provide help and guidance to lecturers on the recording features on zoom/BBcollaborate
  16. 2. Remove participation requirements/attendance for online classes
  17. The two measures above can act to assure students that they will not be missing out on content or grades if they don't attend the online lectures live. Thus, they can come to school only for their physical lessons instead of having to camp out in open study areas.
  18.
  19. I personally have a class where the lecturer speaks without a break for 2 hours and there is 0 class interaction at all.
  20. 1. Such lectures/classes should be moved online instead to reduce the number of students present in school
  21. "I would like to ask if the Student Union 1) acknowledges the issues mentioned above and 2) whether there are plans to bring this up to the school management on our behalf."
  22.
  23. Thank you.
  24.
  25. Yours sincerely,
  26. XXX
