[*]Point your domain [FONT=Courier New]danchristos.com[/FONT] to the folder [FONT=Courier New]/contao-4.4.8/web/[/FONT]
[*]Open the Contao install tool: [url]http://danchristos.com/contao/install[/url] (Hint: there is no [FONT=Courier New]index.php[/FONT] anymore)
[*]Follow the instructions in the install tool
[*]Log in to the Contao back end:  [url]http://danchristos.com/contao[/url] or  [url]http://danchristos.com/contao/login[/url]

You don't need to move the [FONT=Courier New]composer.phar[/FONT] to [FONT=Courier New]/usr/local/bin/composer[/FONT] – just run the [FONT=Courier New]composer.phar[/FONT] from the Contao root directory (i.e. [FONT=Courier New]/contao-4.4.8[/FONT]):
[CODE]php composer.phar update -o[/CODE]
If you execute the above command line you should get the update to Contao 4.4.9.
