  1. >”ANON!”
  2. >Her voice goes high pitched, a little panicked, as she calls your name and sets off your headache. You rub your forehead to quell your increasing migraine and look over to her.
  3. “Why don’t these ponies have some kind of aspirin,” you mutter to yourself before calling back to Moonie, “What’s wrong?”
  4. >”There is some… creature, at the door.”
  5. >Her tone shows she’s disgusted at something but before you can question it she dives behind you.
  6. “What are you doing?”
  7. >You twist around slightly to get a look at her but she keeps moving around, like a shy child.
  8. >”Shh! If we stay quiet, she won’t know we are here.”
  9. >You roll your eyes and walk to the door, but in the corner of your eye you notice a dark figure in the window to your right.
  10. >You take a closer look to at the figure to see a filly-sized creature with holes in its legs and a teal mane sitting on the window sill. The big blue and green eyes stare up at you with a forlorn look.
  11. >It doesn’t take long for you recognise that shape but it’s smaller than you remember.
  12. >You’re curious about why a changeling would be here, but you’re also not stupid enough to walk out there unarmed.
  13. >You grab a bat out the cupboard before you walk outside. Even in a peaceful place like this, you feel safer by keeping it around as a precaution.
  14. >As you stand there, the cold night air wraps around you, adding to the atmosphere. You keep an eye out for Chrysalis but she’s nowhere in immediate sight.
  15. >”Go Anon, slay that disgusting creature!”
  16. >You close the door behind you and slowly walk around to the window where you saw her last and she’s still there, staring into the house.
  17. >She’s tiny, about the same size as Moonie.
  18. >You hold the bat up, prepared to swing if she tries anything. She’s still an enemy of Equestria even if she’s a third of the size. Ready, you call out to her.
  19. “Chrysalis?”
  20. >She tenses up and slowly turns, when she sees you she bursts into a side-splitting laughter that causes her to fall off the window sill.
  21. >That’s when you realise you grabbed the wrong bat, instead of the wooden baseball bat, you brought the inflatable balloon bat that Moonie won in a festival competition a while ago.
  22. >Knowing that your ‘weapon’ will be useless, you drop the thing and opt for keeping a distance between the two of you.
  23. “Why are here? You know you’re not allowed to set foot in Equestria anymore.”
  24. >It takes her a minute, but she recovers her sides and returns to her hooves.
  25. >She takes a deep breath to calm herself so she can speak but then there’s a moment of hesitation that seems to last forever before she gives an answer.
  26. >”I-I… My wings hurt, do you mind if rest inside?”
  27. “If you tell me what you’re doing here then I’ll consider it. Also it looks like it’s going to rain tonight so you may want to consider not wasting my time because I will leave you out here.”
  28. >”Consider it? You refuse to aid a poor, defenceless creature in need?”
  29. >You’re determined to stand your ground against her but you notice that she’s hunching over a little as her whole body shivers from the cold. You quickly give in and allow her to receive a little sympathy.
  30. “You can come inside but if you try anything-”
  31. >”I won’t, you have my word.”
  32. “Yeah, I know your word doesn’t mean much.”
  33. >She’s a little hurt by your harsh remark but hides it well enough so you don’t notice.
  34. >You lead her inside and look for Moonie who is nowhere in sight. She’s always running off to her room when you bring someone inside.
  35. >Chrysalis wastes no time in making herself at home by jumping up onto your couch and sitting on the pillow where your head was resting earlier.
  36. “Comfy?”
  37. >”Quite, but I could use a hot chocolate.”
  38. “Don’t push it, now talk, why are you here?”
  39. >You take a seat on the chair near Chrysalis and rubbing your forehead as your headache reminds you of its presence with a throb of pain.
  40. >”I wish to make peace with you after the... incident during that wedding.”
  41. “Which one? There was the one where you kidnapped me during your escape, another when you held me hostage for a month or perhaps you mean the one where you tried to feed me to your little horde of demons?”
  42. >”They are angels and I will not let you speak ill of them,” she replies on the defensive. She’s now leaning forward on her spot, glaring at you.
  43. “Sure they are. So, where are the little hell spawns? I haven’t seen them since a pack tried to chew my leg off.”
  44. >”Most amusing. I must say, I missed the constant chatter. You always had something snide to say.”
  45. >She tries to dismiss your insults but you can see a small twitch in her eye that shows you’ve gotten on her nerves.
  46. “So is this how you wanted to apologise, you’re doing well.”
  47. >”I’m sorry,” you can’t hear any sincerity in her apology but you weren't expecting any to begin with, “now am I forgiven?”
  48. “Uh, no.”
  49. >”What! Why? That’s how one makes amends isn’t it?”
  50. “Close but you left out the emotion. You can keep trying though, I don’t think I could ever get tired of hearing you apologise even if you don’t mean it.”
  51. >”Be careful human, you do not wish to anger me.”
  52. “You’re less intimidating as a child, speaking of, how did that even happen to you?”
  53. >She leans back defensively, clearly not wanting to answer so you also lean back.
  54. >The two of you sit in silence as you patiently wait. As the silence drags on, Chrysalis begins to fidget, occasionally opening her mouth to speak but shutting it soon after.
  55. >She lets out a deep sigh before looking away from you as she speaks up.
  56. >”I have been... abandoned by my kin,” she hangs her head and her sadness now clearly shows in her voice, “and as such, I have lost a great deal of my power which reduced me to this pitiful form.”
  57. “You need your hive to give you power?”
  58. >”In a way, yes. The love they give can multiply a queen’s power.”
  59. “Wow,” you pause from a loss of words before asking without thinking, “Why did they leave you?”
  60. >She flinches a little as she recalls the reason before hanging her head in shame.
  61. >”I do not wish to speak about it. I just need a place to stay for the night.”
  62. “So, like a lost puppy looking for a home, you come to me?”
  63. >”I was just in the area, I didn't come here to see you.”
  64. >Before you can even think of a witty retort, Moonie calls out.
  65. >”Anon, is that thing still out there?”
  66. “Uh, nope.”
  67. >”Good,” she then happily trots out of her room while holding Sir Bearington by the arm in her mouth then but freezes when she notices your guest sitting the couch.
  68. >Chrysalis smirks at her with a light cackle.
  69. >”Oh my, how positively adorable, you keep a stuffed animal.”
  70. >Moonie throws Sir Bearington across the room but it’s too late to hide the evidence or the bright blush on her face.
  71. >You look at her rosy red cheeks to work out if her face is red from being embarrassed or because she’s furious.
  72. >It’s a little difficult to decipher the meaning of the scrunchy look she’s giving you but you’re given an answer when she opens her mouth to make a rude remark.
  73. >”What’s the dung beetle doing inside?
  74. >”What did you call me?”
  75. >”Did I stutter bug breath? By the night, you’re as ugly as a praying mantis.”
  76. “Moonie, don’t start fights,” you interject but the two carry on like you aren't even there.
  77. >”How dare a pet of a monkey speak to me, a queen, like this.”
  78. >”Be careful bug brains. I have a magnifying glass that I could use to set you alight.”
  79. >”Has losing your powers affected your brain this much? It’s night time, you cannot burn me with the moon’s light.”
  80. >”I-I knew that, I AM the night!”
  81. >”Please, the only night you can make is the shadow your moon-sized flank casts.”
  82. “GIRLS,” you shout, startling and silencing the two.
  83. “I have a very bad headache and if you two don’t stop arguing then I'm going to let you BOTH sleep outside.”
  84. >”She started it,” Chrysalis points at Moonie who gives you a sheepish grin, knowing it’s smarter to remain quiet.
  85. “I'm finishing it.”
  86. >Chrysalis just huffs and looks away with crossed forehooves like a little kid who can’t have her way.
  87. “Now, I need to report this to the Princess so Moonie can you grab me a quill and paper please.”
  88. >”Of course,” she replies as she hastily leaves the room.
  89. >”Come now Anonymous, I don’t think we really need to warn the Princess, do you?”
  90. >She’s leaning forward on the arm of the chair with a desperate tone and look.
  91. “Yeah, I do.”
  92. >”We can come to an arrangement.”
  93. “You have nothing I want.”
  94. >She jumps forward and clutches to your leg tightly, she’s nearly cutting off the circulation there too.
  95. >As you look down to the desperate changeling queen, you try to decide if she deserves any sympathy from you. Either way, you still need to notify the Princesses.
  96. >Moonie enters the room, holding a quill and paper in her magic grip before passing them to you.
  97. >You sit at your desk and begin writing a letter to the Princess like you’re Twilight Sparkle while the two little ones pull faces at each other behind your back.
  98. >You don’t need to turn around to know they are antagonising each other but you’re too busy.
  99.
  100.
  101. Dear Princess Celestia,
  102.
  103.
  104. Today I received a house guest who happens to be the former queen of the changelings and after being abandoned by her subjects, she has been become the same size as Nightmare Moon.
  105. I don’t know the rest of the story and I need your help.
  106. Please send a reply immediately.
  107.
  108.
  109. Your faithful subject,
  110. Anonymous.
  111.
  112.
  113. >After you sign your name, you roll up the paper and place a ribbon with the royal crest on it, before setting it alight with a match given to you by the Princess.
  114. >You were given a whole box of these things that will send the letter you set on fire to Princess Celestia way back when you first began to care for Moonie.
  115. >They were given to you in case Moonie was ever proven to be unable to reform or if there was an emergency so you think this is a great time to use one.
  116. >”How long until the Princess comes down here to squash bug girl?”
  117. >You turn to Moonie who is sporting a wide, cheerful grin. She really must think that’s going to happen, you aren't sure yourself what will happen but you doubt the Princess is just going to come down here with some bug spray or something.
  118. “I'm not sure but probably soon.”
  119. >Chrysalis tries to slink away but you notice her before she can take any more than the first step.
  120. “You’re not leaving.”
  121. >”Just try and stop me!”
  122. >She scurries on the spot like some kind of cartoon character before trying to make a dash to the front door but with your legs being longer, it was easy to catch up within a few steps.
  123. >You pick up the escapee and hold her up under your arm.
  124. >Despite being caught, she tries to struggle, determined to make a getaway.
  125. >She’s small but she can squirm an awful lot, her wings beat like crazy and her legs flail about, but her efforts are all in vain because you have an iron grip.
  126. >”You might as well give up. Anon is my greatest minion, you have no hope to escape.”
  127. >This makes Chrysalis give up and just hang there in disbelief.
  128. >”Minion? You mean, he serves you?”
  129. >”Of cour-”
  130. “No, I do not. Moonie just likes to pretend.”
  131. >Moonie sits there glaring at you while Chrysalis gives her a cheeky grin that you can’t see.
  132. >”Anon, if you’re not pledged to serve Moonie, then why don’t you pledge allegiance to me? I'm a kind and benevolent queen.”
  133. >”You’re hardly a queen without any subjects.”
  134. >”Do you even have any other subjects or minions aside from that stuffed bear?”
  135. >”Sir Bearington could easily dispose of you,” you can tell by her voice that she’s offended. You didn't realise how much she liked that bear.
  136. >”That stuffed bear is no match for my power.”
  137. >You try and tune out the bickering but your headache comes back in full force, this time you shout at the top of your lungs.
  138. “ENOUGH!”
  139. >The two freeze in terror, afraid to say another word or invoke the wrath of Anonymous the Human.
  140. >Then a knock at the door breaks the new-found silence.
  141. >You place the frightened changeling queen on the floor before answering the door to Princess Celestia who looks at you, her eyes read stress and concern.
  142. “You can travel quick.”
  143. >”Luckily, I was catching up with Twilight when I received your letter.”
  144. >You don’t say another word, instead you lead the stressed princess inside and show her the new miniature Chrysalis.
  145. >The two stare at each other. Celestia tilts her head in confusion and Chrysalis stands wide-eyed in fear.
  146. >As the two play the staring game, you check up on Moonie who has taken a seat on the couch and is eating popcorn. You don’t bother speaking, you just sit beside her and wait for someone to say something.
  147. >You’re left waiting for a while. During the silence, Moonie doses off with her head in your lap so you sit there, stroking her soft, flowing mane.
  148. >”Why have you come here of all places?”
  149. >Celestia is the first to speak up, she’s corrected her posture and tone to give herself an atmosphere of authority around her.
  150. >She stands tall, proud and her head held high while Chrysalis is the opposite; she stands there with her head and body lowered, like she’s bowing in fear.
  151. >”I-I don’t… know,” Chrysalis replies.
  152. >Her voice doesn't show fear but is quite passive.
  153. >Celestia gives a slight sigh and glances in your direction.
  154. >You don’t need to wait for her to tell you what she means by her look, you lift Moonie up into your arms and carry her to bed.
  155. “I'll give you two some privacy.”
  156. >You step into her room and trudge through the darkness, with only the moonlight coming through a window to help you see, to lay her down onto her bed and cover her up in a blanket.
  157. >With Celestia and Chrysalis just outside Moonie’s room, you’re left with nowhere to go so you stay in this room.
  158. >After a few minutes of sitting on the bed and staring at the moon, you opt for playing with Moonie’s toys and create the battle of Lego City.
  159. >Buying Moonie a Lego set was the greatest idea you've ever had and you soon get lost in just building houses and people before just destroying all that and making one big spaceship that resembles a penis.
  160. >Reliving your childhood is interrupted by a soft knock at the door. You place your phallic-shaped Republic Attack Cruiser down and step out of the room.
  161. >”I've spoken to her and it appears she has nowhere to go,” her voice goes no higher than a whisper. Chrysalis is still in the room, sitting on the couch but she’s far enough away that she can’t hear anything above a whisper
  162. “Yeah, I told you that in the letter.”
  163. >”I know, I was hoping you had a suggestion. I believe it’d be a good idea if we could, somehow, reform her.”
  164. >After looking after Celestia when she was a filly, you learnt when she wants, implies or hints at something.
  165. “So, you think she should stay here?”
  166. >”What? I said no such thing,” she’s taken aback from the surprise that you’re onto what she meant.
  167. “Look, I don’t know if I can let her.”
  168. >”I understand Anonymous. I only thought because you've done so well with Moonie that… Can you think of any pony who would be up to the task?“
  169. >You scratch the back of your head in thought, before realising, there’s nobody you’d feel is capable.
  170. >When Discord was reformed, none of the others would give him a real chance but Fluttershy and she cracked under the pressure. It was just fortunate that was the right thing to do at the time.
  171. >The only ones who could possibly do it aside from you are the Princesses but they have an entire kingdom to run so you give a sigh, unsure of the decision you’re about to make.
  172. “You owe me big time for doing this, Celestia.”
  173. >”Thank you very much, Anon. I already owe you a debt I could never hope to repay.”
  174. >You give a worried look over to the former changeling queen that you’re going to take under your wing and she returns your look with a devilish grin that only adds to your worries.
  175. >Tonight starts the part of your life where you'll look after two queens of evil.
