  1. >Day 105 in Equestria.
  2. >You're trying to spend time out of the library. You go back to sleep and eat, but other than that you try to find other things to do.
  3. >Exercising with Dash, baking with Pinkie, hauling apples with Applejack.
  4. >You want to give Twilight the space she needs.
  5. >By the time you run out of things to do the sun is already setting, and you decide to take a break in the town square. Luckily, your favorite bench is empty.
  6. >Sitting down, you realize just how tired you had been. Spending all day on one's feet has that effect.
  7. >Your gaze falls on the sky and you take a deep breath.
  8. >"Heya Big Guy."
  9. >You don't look down, but you can feel Dash hop up to the bench and lay next to you.
  10. >She doesn't say anything for quite a while. In fact, she seems rather content to just be with you on the bench.
  11. >The silence lasts until the sun starts creeping past the horizon, and ponies start going home.
  12. "So?"
  13. >Dash turns to look at you, "What's up?"
  14. "It's been a few days."
  15. >She goes silent and looks away once more.
  16. "Looks like it's still bugging you."
  17. >She laughs and shakes her head, "Actually no. What's bugging me is that it's not bugging me as much as it should... I'm not even sure that makes sense."
  18. >This ought to be good.
  19. >You smirk.
  20. "So let me get this straight, you're actually thinking about doing this?"
  21. >She frowns, "If you smirk like that I'll be having second thoughts. I don't know, though... it's almost like what happened back when you had the dream. I thought it bugged me, but when I really sat down and thought about it..."
  22. "Okay, so we go talk to Twilight. I'll set up a meeting."
  23. >You stand from the bench and brush off your legs.
  24. >Dash jumps on your back with a growl, "Hold on! I didn't say anything about that!"
  25. >Reaching behind to try and get her off does little to help. The two of you just end up squirming back and forth like idiots. Ponies stare on in wonder as you try to pry her from your back.
  26. "Dash, what the hell?!"
  27. >Finally, after a few minutes of tussling she falls to the ground and huffs, "I told you, I didn't say anything about talking to Twilight!"
  28. >You turn around to face her and glare down at her.
  29. "That doesn't mean you can just hop on my back!"
  30. >Her response is to shove you in the gut with a hoof, "WE need to talk about it first, but looking at your reaction you don't have much of a problem with it!"
  31. "Alright, so talk."
  32. >"You can't just jump right into it," she grumbles.
  33. "What am I supposed to do then? Alright, listen."
  34. >You kneel down and smile.
  35. "To be honest, I like both of you."
  36. >Dash frowns, "I KNEW it!"
  37. "Now before you get into a rant I haven't done anything."
  38. >"But you..."
  39. "SHE kissed me, not the other way around. If you say the word it's going to stay that way."
  40. >"And if I don't?"
  41. >Her wings flare out and she starts fidgeting. It's easy to tell she's getting antsy about this whole thing.
  42. "If you don't then it's not hard to guess at what happens. You know how I feel about it, but what about you?"
  43. "What's that supposed to mean?"
  44. "I'm asking you if you want to be with both of us."
  45. >Dash clears her throat as her face goes red. "Well... Twilight's been there for all of us ever since she moved here. We all care about her, but..."
  46. "But?"
  47. >"Ugh! I don't know, this is so frikkin' confusing!"
  48. "Actually, it's pretty straightforward."
  49. >She sighs and brings a hoof to her face. "Okay, maybe I do."
  50. "Maybe?"
  51. >"Let's go to the library."
  52. "Huh?"
  53. >Before you realize you're supposed to be following her she turns and starts trotting towards the town library.
  54. "Wait, that might not be a..."
  55. >She's ignoring you.
  56. "Good idea."
  57. -------
  58. >The library is just as quiet as ever.
  59. >With Spike gone and Twilight being distracted it's a surprise the books have been getting organized these past few days. You think she's been waiting until you're asleep to do any work.
  60. >Can't blame her. It's better to do something if sleep is evasive.
  61. >You enter the library, Dash in tow, and Twilight is nowhere to be seen.
  62. >"Where's she at?"
  63. "Um... about that."
  64. >Before you can continue you hear the door to the second floor area slamming. Twilight trots down the stairs, still looking a bit out of sorts.
  65. "Hey Twilight."
  66. >"You're back kind of early." There is a slight twinge to her voice. You can't help but think you interrupted her. "And Rainbow! What a surprise! Can I get you anything?"
  67. >You lean down to Dash's ear and whisper.
  68. "No sudden movements."
  69. >Dash slowly walks forward a few steps. "Um, hey Twilight. I was just coming over here with Anon to talk."
  70. >"Talk? About what?"
  71. >Twilight blinks out of existence, and reappears right in front of Dash. "If you don't mind I'm kind of busy at the moment. Maybe you can come back later. Unless it happens to be important. I can wait around for something important."
  72. >"Riiiight," Dash says nervously, teeth gritting. She looks over to you, as if pleading for help.
  73. >You shrug.
  74. >She's the one who wanted to do this right away. Might as well face the music.
  75. >Dash glares at you before taking a deep breath and turning back to Twilight. "Well, it is pretty important, but you have to promise not to freak out."
  76. >"Freak out? Why would I freak out?"
  77. >"Ha, right. Well, me and Big Guy have been talking, and I think... I would be alright with giving your idea a try."
  78. >There is a long moment of silence that you can tell Dash absolutely dreads. She starts fidgeting again as Twilight just stares at her slack jawed. You know for a fact that Twilight being in her estrus cycle doesn't help this situation, but it's too late for Dash to take back what she's said now.
  79. >What happens will happen.
  80. >Finally, Twilight blinks. "You what?" she asks.
  81. >Dash sighs and looks at the floor, trying to hide her burning face, "I said that I would be okay with trying your idea."
  82. >"You mean..."
  83. >"Yes! Stop making me repeat myself!"
  84. >This time, a warm smile slowly forms on Twilight's face.
  85. >She leaps forward and wraps her hooves around Dash, "Thank you thank you thank you!"
  86. >Dash barely has time to respond before Twilight kisses her... deeply.
  87. >Then, with even less warning, she pulls away from Dash and turns to you. You end up a victim as well.
  88. >It's different from last time. Even though she had been rather forward, the last kiss she gave you had some amount of hesitation behind it.
  89. >When she pulls away and your brain finally has a second to think for itself you realize that this whole situation is kind of weird.
  90. >It isn't bad, though. Far from bad, in fact.
  91. >Just weird.
  92. >Twilight brings a hoof to her face as it goes red and smiles at both of you. "Oh, um... I should probably... get out of here. You're both the best." Twilight turns and hauls ass back up the stairs. The door behind her slams shut, and you hear her hoof steps as she hurries up to her loft.
  93. >When you can no longer hear her running around Dash turns to you. "So that was..."
  94. "Weird?"
  95. >"Awkward?"
  96. "Surprising?"
  97. >"...Nice?"
  98. >You laugh and ruffle Dash's hair, and she starts laughing with you.
  99. >This will be the strangest experiment you've ever been a part of, but that's really not what matters now.
  100. >What does matter is much more simple.
  101. "Hey Dash?"
  102. >"Hm?"
  103. "You wanna take a run? Blow all this off? You seem kind of antsy."
  104. >She laughs, and once more turns red. "Yeah, yeah it's weird. I wouldn't mind getting some exercise, even if you're totally slow," she says, sticking her tongue out at you.
  105. "I take offense to that. You have four legs and a pair of wings, that's kind of unfair."
  106. >"Heh, not my fault you suck."
  107. "Alright then, you try to run on your hind legs and see how far you get."
  108. >"I'm not the one who's built like a monkey."
  109. >You slug her in the shoulder and she laughs. "Hey Anon?"
  110. "What is it Ms. Vanity."
  111. >Another smile. "Thanks." She hops up to you and gives you a soft kiss, and then she's running out the door.
  112. "Hey!"
  113. >"Catch me if you can! You're slower than Tank!"
  114. >What really matters is simple.
  115. >You have Dash and Twilight, you have friends, you're healthy, and you feel more alive than you ever have before.
  116. -----
  117. >Day 120 in Equestria.
  118. >Twilight's library is... louder than usual today.
  119. >"I'm telling you Twi, Lord Gray Mane is totally going to die before the end of the book."
  120. >"Rainbow, you don't know what you're talking about, tell her, Anon!"
  121. >The three of you have been meeting for the weekend in a type of book club thing, except you're the only members.
  122. >Currently, you're all laying on your stomachs on a mat with three copies of the same book spread out in front of you.
  123. >Twilight tells you she's closing the library every Sunday for a few hours, dedicating time to reading and assigning chapters to you and Rainbow.
  124. >She says it's so the three of you spend time together on something aside from dates, but you're pretty sure it's some sort of indoctrination process that she came up with.
  125. "I think I can see where Dash is coming from. Gray Mane is kind of the old mentor character. Don't those guys usually die to the villain after the hero learns from them?"
  126. >Twilight frowns at you. "There are exceptions to those 'rules' you know. You don't have to search far to find a story where the mentor lives. This might be one of them."
  127. "Alright then!" Dash yells, "We'll make it a bet!"
  128. >This ought to be interesting.
  129. >twilight raises an eyebrow while Dash continues, "If Gray Mane dies then both of you get to be my slaves for a week."
  130. "Woah, whoa, I'm on your side, why do I have to be a slave?"
  131. >"Because that's the bet," says Dash, giving a smug nod.
  132. >Twilight stands, as does Dash, and they face each other, both with glares. "And if I win," says Twilight, "You're paying for dinner next time."
  133. >"What kind of bet is that?"
  134. >You get up as well, moving to break the spat up, but they're not even looking at you. It's like they're in their own little world.
  135. "Come on, can't we just get back to the book?"
  136. >Twilight scoffs, "Anon needs to save money for things too, you know. You're the only one who hasn't paid yet, and I know weather pony pay isn't that bad."
  137. >"Alright, fine, but don't be surprised when you lose."
  138. >Twilight smirks, "You're on."
  139. >The two bang their hooves together, and you bring a hand to your face with a sigh.
  140. "Don't I get a say in this?"
  141. >"No!" they yell.
  142. >You're not sure what you've gotten into when it comes to these two.
  143. >It doesn't help that you're pretty sure Dash is going to win this bet.
  144. >Fucking mares.
