  1. Xorn - Rank 4 in the House of X's leadership, a masked Mutant with a small "black hole" (actually an unknown form of Darkforce singularity) for a brain, allowing him to drain light from an environment, capture people in miniature singularities, telekinetically control objects by manipulating gravity, release swathes of destruction by partially opening his mask, and release darkforce blasts. Xorn was once a little boy, born on April 4th 1994 to a simple family living in Yumai, the smallest town in China with only eight families living inside. His life was simple at first, and he lived it with his family happily. It wasn't until he was four years old did his life begin to change, when a mysterious woman in a silver coat with long hair in a ponytail came to his family. She told them that in 6 years, on his 10th birthday in 2004, his brain would turn into a black hole, which would soon expand afterwards and destroy most of mainland china, killing everyone within its radius, including Xorn himself, before finally collapsing into nothing. She said that her family had made a mask for him, and that he should put it on now, that way when the black hole forms, it'll be contained. They were initially skeptical, until she revealed everything about their personal lives, showing how deep her knowledge went. Thus, they reluctantly put the mask on their son.

  3. The mask was heavy. It hurt little Xorn, and was way too big for his head - so big in fact that they had to keep it on his head with chains. He hated the mask, but his family was too afraid of the mysterious woman who approached them to take it off him, and scared of the possibility she may be right. Because of this, little Xorn began to hate his family. His dog wouldn't go near him - he looked too scary. Because of this, little Xorn began to hate his dog. The neighbors didn't understand why he wore the mask, and thought that he brought shame on his family. Because of this, little Xorn began to hate his neighbors. His friends were uncomfortable with the mask, they couldn't see his face, and were worried he was spying on them or that he was hiding what he thought of them. Because of this, little Xorn began to hate his friends. Everyone he met didn't like the mask, they thought it made him ugly or scary or shameful. Because of this, little Xorn began to hate everyone. Everything.

  5. As he kept growing, the mask pained him more and more, opening it up slightly to eat food, trying to sleep with it on, trying to remove it, everything about it was awful. He hated it more than anything in the world. And his family didn't care. They valued the word of some nosy stranger more than their own son. He hated that. He lost his friends because of the mask and his growing coldness, he hated that too. Eventually, a buddhist priest came from the mountains to try and teach Xorn to appreciate and endure suffering, but Xorn just thought it was a bunch of nonsense he was making up on the spot to try and placate this troubled child. Xorn hated that. From the lenses inside the mask, Xorn could only see the world in an ugly shade of blue, blurry and layered out of crystals of unknown material. Xorn hated that. The sun got so bright via the mask's lenses, it hurt Xorn's eyes. Xorn hated that. Whenever he fell with the mask on, it really hurt his head. Xorn hated that. Xorn hated everything. And everyone could tell. Xorn, of course, hated that.

  7. It was his 10th birthday, and his parents were considering that the woman was wrong, and that maybe they could take the mask off Xorn, now. At his birthday celebration, his father tried to open the mask even the littlest bit, only for his mutation to activate then and there - his father being shredded into atoms and sucked through the small opening on the mask within seconds. Xorn felt no sadness, no pain. If anything, he was just glad that annoying man was gone. The mother quickly closed the mask, but lost her arm while doing so, her blood pouring all over her body and onto the ground. Looking at his screaming and bleeding mother, all Xorn could think was, "please don't make a mess of my room." His mother survived her injury, but he felt no joy. If anything, he was annoyed, not only by her survival, but because he didn't feel anything about her survival that was positive. He just hated it.

  9. In the aftermath of the incident, he left his family and his town, and began to wander the streets of China, aimlessly, as he was tired of his home - he hated his home. He wanted to find something to do, but this damn mask ruined everything he could think of. He really did hate this world, everything about it. He hated society. He hated rule breakers. He hated religion. He hated atheists. He hated tradition. He hated progression. This whole world was nothing but unsatisfying to him, he wanted it gone, he wanted it to disappear, disappear into nothing. Then maybe something pretty could finally grow where it died, like grass growing from the dust of a corpse. As he grew up, his philosophy refined itself more and more, and he decided that perhaps those Buddhists weren't wrong - suffering leads to rebirth, they say, after all. And by living through suffering, understanding it, you are reborn greater, and whole, right? Perhaps that was what this world needed. Suffering and rebirth.
  10.
  11. As a result of this newfound discovery of "religion," he decided to seek out and join the Ten Rings pan-Asian terrorist organization, and due to a combination of his great power and respectable intelligence, he eventually became the leader of his own cell of the Ten Rings, and was able to spread suffering and rebirth wherever he went, as he dreamed. However, he disliked his group's veneration of the Mandarin, and believed their objectives relying on ancient artifacts and ridiculous concepts like an all-powerful, otherworldly Dragon were ridiculous, preferring they focus on real world methods. Thus, he and his cell soon deserted the Ten Rings, seeking to form their own terrorist army, which they named Eight Precepts of Oblivion, in hopes they could kickstart the death of the world's society. However, his time as a supervillain in his own right was short lived - as his campaign of rebirth was brought to an end by the combined forces of Tony Stark and Collective Man. His army was scattered - killed or imprisoned depending on the individual members' last acts, and while he escaped, he had lost almost everything he had built. Xorn hated that.
  12.
  13. He returned to wandering the shadows aimlessly once more, until, eventually, in 2018, he was approached by Sage and the House of X, who offered to let him join their forces, and re-orient himself now that his ambition had failed. They managed to make a convincing case - that while Xorn believed in suffering and rebirth, he had not experienced it himself, until now. The simple question was, what would he be reborn into - the same old man, doomed to chase impossible goals, or a new, brilliant being with the same ethos, but a new method? Xorn ultimately agreed, and reinvented himself as a member of the House of X's leadership, acting as their primary connection in the world of mundane criminals, and a rallying standard for people desiring to change the world, break it down and make it new. He sensed this House of X would ultimately open the path to what he desired - suffering and rebirth, every man, woman, and child on this planet.
  14.
  15. Xorn has a very cynical personality, but is also prone to sardonic and disparaging humor, especially towards teammates and particularly towards Amaranth, who is probably his opposite in temperament on the team. His cynicism lends to a very gloomy attitude, though it's tempered by how he himself doesn't cry or whine, instead just bitterly accepting the world for what it is. He respects Sage as a leader, seeing her as the embodiment of suffering and rebirth, and that her connections throughout the criminal world will one day lead to a time where the world is destroyed and renewed, all at once. He still hates his mask, but has come to appreciate how much it intimidates other people. Despite not being a true Buddhist, he often replicates their phrases and attitudes in his religion of suffering and rebirth. He often has little sympathy for his enemies, considering them annoyances most of the time, and while he will mock and tease them, is unlikely to have any positive attitudes towards them, instead just being harsh and cruel.
  16.
  17. In contrast, he plays rather well with his teammates despite his cynicism, and is willing to spend time with them - though the fact he never changes his outfit and obviously never takes his mask off means that he often looks completely out of place among them. He's good friends with Wither, owing to how they both have very destructive abilities, and they are often seen working together. He considers people who try to change the world without destroying it in turn ridiculous idiots, and as such has a low opinion of basically all superheroes, but particularly the X-Men, Iron Man, and Captain America. His role in the House of X is to act as a motivator for their non-Marauder and non-Lily soldiers, corralling terrorists to serve as mooks and workers for the House without truly being a part of it, in addition to his role as a combat powerhouse.
  18.
  19. He wears a sinister black and blue outfit consisting primarily of a black longcoat, with a black circular design with a blue, flame-like outline at the front, representing the black hole inside his head, and with the Chinese character for 4 in the middle of this ring. His arms and legs are covered in black metal plates in addition to this coat, with several chains wrapped around each limb. On his hands he wears heavy metal gloves, and on his feet he wears heavy metal boots, each of a similar material to his mask. His mask looks like a strange, freaky skull with 16 teeth, and glowing blue lenses at the eyes. Multiple spikes and studs, which smoke with blackish-blue energy when using his powers, poke out from the top of his mask. Multiple seams can be seen throughout the mask, being its complex opening system, allowing it to be partially opened to utilize his singularity directly if need be. Due to his mask and armor, it's unknown what he looks like under his costume, eyes included.
