  1. You can totally see socionics was designed by alpha quadra.
  2. Let's say you have an RPG, such as Final Fantasy. You can pick a character. Your options are:
  3.
  4. Baby
  5. Parent
  6. Victim
  7. etc.
  8.
  9. There's no such game because people don't want to play those characters.
  10. Why don't we rename them to something that would interest people, such as:
  11.
  12. Infantile -> Gardener
  13. Caregiver -> Defender
  14. Trophy -> Performer
  15. Conqueror -> Trendsetter
  16. Employee -> Cleric
  17. Employer -> Believer
  18. Student -> Healer
  19. Teacher -> Artisan
  20.
  21. Not much fun being gamma NT when you're supposed to say "I only work here" when it comes to love. Ingrained power imbalances are neither asked nor wanted.
  22.
  23. Furthermore, "Infantile" is obviously the best position to be in if you're only concerned of yourself. So it isn't fair to claim that position.
  24.
  25. The position is best in terms of unreciprocated effort. "Employee" is the worst position to be in the sense that it suggests lack of independence yet maximum responsibility. It isn't my idea that I would be infantile. Slavic women impose this notion on me by rudely insinuating I should get a job. I wonder if socionics causes them to say such things or is it poverty.
  26.
  27. We don't get these abuse-inviting double meanings if we embed an RPG theme into the romancing style names. Of course we could embed some other theme, too, but RPG game characters are already known to be politically correct as archetypal roles. In addition, there are no embedded power imbalances.
  28.
  29. If some ordinary family went to see a psychiatrist and the psychiatrist told them the family's dad is Infantile, the mom is Conqueror and the children are whatever, this would probably confuse the family and feel uncanny. But even square people would understand the RPG names if they've read Lord Of The Rings. They're much better than the "Gahh... get this off me!!" names we currently use.
  30.
  31. The "employee" name isn't funny because if I go to a workplace the mid level bosses give me no work to do so that nobody else would notice I work harder than everyone else. People totally exploit that already and there's nothing funny about that. "Employee" is like the n-word.
  32.
  33. Relevant connotations of "infantile" are more subtly captured by "gardener" for those who are familiar with biblical references. Such as, if you're still in the garden of Eden I guess you don't need "believers" there. But since they're there anyway at least this is a slightly humorous way to express the mismatch there. More humorous than the interaction between an "aggressor" and an "infantile".
  34.
  35. It's so obvious the "infantile" romantics made this psychological theory just from their own point of view. Their conflictors will surely stay away if there's some ultimate narrative in which they are people who bully children. There's no way to make something good out of bullying children but now entire socionics is rigged to prevent that from happening. That's too much.
  36.
  37. If you identify romancing styles only in terms of problems associated with a particular style then you will name them in a way that perpetuates these problems.
  38.
  39. If I know someone's romancing style is Infantile that makes me think: "They warm up so slow I want to punch them. Sex with children isn't safe anyway."
  40.
  41. But if someone is a Gardener then I wouldn't expect to feel that way. I'd think: "Plants just grow slowly."
  42.
  43. Earlier, I said that Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six could as well be called Tom Clancy's Beta ST Six. But this new language invites me to point out that there are also demolition men and snipers in that game and they could be Artisans. Recon could even be Believers. But the player usually only plays Trendsetters, so if we even call the Trendsetters "Conquerors" we invite the players to ignore other characters altogether.
  44.
  45. That isn't even realistic. Let us examine the French Foreign Legion's Code of honour.[1] We can clearly see that the values of this unit are delta, not beta. Such as:
  46.
  47. "In combat, you act without passion and without hate, you respect defeated enemies, and you never abandon your dead, your wounded, or your arms."
  48.
  49. "An elite soldier, you train rigorously, you maintain your weapon as your most precious possession, and you take constant care of your physical form."
  50.
  51. "Proud of your status as legionnaire, you display this in your always impeccable uniform, your always dignified but modest behaviour, and your clean living quarters."
  52.
