  1. Mark died on June 13 after a brief illness. A remembrance service for immediate family members will be held on July
  2. 30.
  3. Mark’s early
  4. years benefited from the guidance of his two older siblings, Kristen and
  5. Jeffrey. As a boy, he enjoyed playing baseball and was interested in track
  6. and field at an early age. At age 6, he completed all ten events of the
  7. decathlon (including the pole vault); this was done in one afternoon instead
  8. of the usual two-day period. After completing the decathlon, he wrote a
  9. small, illustrated narrative of the experience, which was bound and still
  10. holds a place in the family library.
  11. Mark graduated from High School in 2008 and completed three
  12. semesters in the geology curriculum at University.
  13. He struggled with severe anxiety and depression during his entire adult life.
  14. He was employed by a Grocery in town where he worked in the
  15. produce department. Mark never married.
  16. Mark was an enthusiastic reader and something of a self-taught expert on a
  17. wide array of topics. His friends and family observed that he was unusually
  18. well informed on scores of topics ranging from microelectronics to the
  19. Crimean War. He would sometimes hike and climb mountains in Colorado
  20. and Utah with his friends and his parents.
  21. Mark will be greatly missed by friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother and
  22. grandparents. The family deeply appreciate the patient, attentive medical
  23. care given to Mark during his final years by his physicians.
