- 1/ Yet another "critic" who conflates reality (media, ads, documentaries, etc.) and fiction (movies, games, etc.).
- 2/ Heavy bias: highlighting "positives" of the cultivation theory without ever mentioning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultivation_theory#Criticisms_of_cultivation_theory
- 3/ Biased/strawman defense of Freq (as if the only reason people criticized them was the cultivation theory).
- 4/ Forgetting to mention that every time the cultivation theory was applied to games (an "active" medium) -- the study itself lists examples! -- the results failed to support the theory in a meaningful way (no results or weak results).
- 5/ The video is tainted by bias but it's not all bad. E.g. people do tend to see a single study and claim it totally proves X.
- 6/ Summary: some good points, lots of bias and cherry-picking. Done well enough to fool those without any deeper knowledge or understanding of the subject.
