SCENE 2: THE RESCUE

Hally only just manages to shove Daobi into the wardrobe before Uncle Willon enters the room.

	UNCLE WILLON: "What are you doing here?"

	HALLY PORTER: "lonly..."

	UNCLE WILLON: "You interrupt me... The best place for Japanese make jokes."

(The fact that said joke was - in all likelyhood - just a low brow innuendo makes all of this even worse.)

Hally keeps having to shut the wardrobe door, lest Willon might discover Daobi.

	HALLY PORTER: "Sorry..."

	UNCLE WILLON: "You make some voice again... I'm sure you will die. Fix my door!"

	HALLY PORTER: "Yes."

Uncle Willon leaves and shuts the door. Hally releases Daobi and immediately starts ranting at him.

	HALLY PORTER: "Now I know why I want to go back. I don't belong to here. I belong to your world... Hugawaltz. I have friends only there."

	DAOBI: "They don't write letters to Hally Porter's friends?"

	HALLY PORTER: "I think maybe they... Wait a moment. How do you know... my friends haven't wrote to me?"

	DAOBI: "Dobby thinks...if... Hally Porter think his friends forgot him... Harry Porter don't want to go back to school."

Daobi pulls a stack of letters out of... somewhere. (I don't think I want to know out of exactly where.)

	HALLY PORTER: "Give me those letters... Be quick!"

	DAOBI: "Don't!"

Daobi runs out the room and rushes down the stairs, with Hally not far behind. Uncle Willon is entertaining his guests in the living room.

	UNCLE WILLON: "I assure you are very happy..."

	HALLY PORTER: "Dobby,come back quickly!"

	UNCLE WILLON: "Call that pump, There are two pumps. One says the water is flowing from here. Then the other says... That's right this is#the water on the surface."

The guests laugh politely, pretending to have gotten the joke, not noticing the cake hovering above Mrs. Mason's head. Hally reaches out both arms to take it, only to look like the culprint in the eyes of everyone present.

	UNCLE WILLON: "I'm very sorry! My nephew,there is a problem with his brain! He makes when he sees some strangers, So I locked him on upstairs!"

Daobi teleports away. Cut to Uncle Willon putting bars over Hally's bedroom windows. (A change from the book, where he hired a workman to do it, apparently of the type who doesn't ask questions...)

	UNCLE WILLON: "I don't allow you go back to that school! I don't allow you meset... your those strange friends! Never!"

That night, a flying car sweeps up by Hally's window. A familliar - though slightly older-sounding - voice calls out from the driver's seat.

	LEAN WISLIN: "Hi, Hally."

Hally looks into the flying car, recognizing all three of its occupants.

	HALLY PORTER: "Lean,Fred,Joege? Why are you coming here?"

	LEAN WISLIN: "Of course saving you. Go to take you baggage quickly!"

Hally quickly goes to take you baggage. Lean secures a hook around the window.

	LEAN WISLIN: "You'd better stand on the back... Act now!"

They pull the (by all accounts shoddily constructed) bars off the wall. The sound awakens both Uncle Willon- who makes some incredible grunting noises in response - and Aunt Penny.

	AUNT PENNY: "What's the sound?"

	UNCLE WILLON: "Porter!"

	DALLY: "Dad,what's the matter?"

Uncle Willon fumbles with the keys to the locked door. Hally hears him and hurries to leave as fast as possible.

	LEAN WISLIN: "‘ Be quick,Hally!"

Uncle Willon unlocks the door and runs to grab Hally, as the Wislin's try to pull their friend into the car.

	UNCLE WILLON: "He is escaped!"

	LEAN WISLIN: "Hally,come in quickly!

	UNCLE WILLON: "You come over!"

	HALLY PORTER: "The door is open!"

	UNCLE WILLON: "You and that pair of fucking pigeons don't think going anywhere!"

	HALLY PORTER: "Get out of me!"

	LEAN WISLIN: "Drive quickly!"

	JOEGE WISLIN: "Be quick,drive!"

Uncle Willon loses his grip and falls out of the window, down into the bushes. Hally is dragged into the car, which quickly flies off.

	DALLY: "Dad! Dad,are you ok?"

	LEAN WISLIN: "Right,Hally. Happy Birthday."

The car arrives at the Wislin home. Hally, Lean, Fraid and Joege snek into the house, trying not to wake anybody.

	FRAID WISLIN: "Come in quickly,shh! Be quick."

	LEAN WISLIN: "It's doesn't matter taking this?"

	JOEGE WISLIN: "That's right Mom won't know it."

Hally looks around the home, fascinated by everything. The dishes are cleaning themselves, a pair of knitting needles are working hard, and the clock is helpfully showing that none of the family are in fact in prison.

(Go home)

	LEAN WISLIN: "It's not very big... But you must have a home."

	HALLY PORTER: "I think it's great here."

Suddenly and without warning, Mrs. Wislin angrily stomps into the room.

	MRS. WISLIN: "You these guys... where have you gone?"

She walks up the quartet, acting warmly towards Hally but giving her sons a proper callout.

	MRS. WISLIN: "Hally, It's very nice meeting you... There is nobody on bed and no any notes left! Stealling the car you maybe die! You probably will be seen! ...Of course I'm not saying you,Hally."

	LEAN WISLIN: "They make Hally hungry, and seal his windows!

	MRS. WISLIN: "You'd better pray... You won't seal your windows, Roen Wislin!"

Having chewed out Lean enough, Mrs. Wislin turns back to Hally with a warm smile.

	MRS. WISLIN: "Come on,Hally you'd have breakfast."
