He has spent much of his childhood years in care, most specifically living with foster parents Ruth and Henri, a kindly Muggle couple also originating from France. At age four, he was brought with said family to live in the United Kingdom, where he discovered his magical capabilities via Professors Allegra and Sullivan from Hogwarts School. Moth harbours a complex— relationship with magic, identity and self-worth. He has had an incredibly difficult time coming to terms with the fact of his magic, seeing it as some sort of divine joke sent to disrupt the tumultuous balance of his life. Since the delivery of his Hogwarts letter, Moth has lost the favour of his Muggle foster parents, who are scared of magic and what having a wizard in the house could mean. Now, Moth looks forward to the sorting ceremony, where he hopes to find a new sense of community and peace.
[/tbody]
[/div]

A Larch wand finds its home best in the possession of a wizard who benefits from its quirk for inspiring courage and confidence, and those who reflect its depth for hidden talents and unexpected effects. Many Larch wand owners will not discover the potential that lies within until comfortably paired with it. In this case, with a core of Thunderbird feather, such considerable talent lies in transfiguration and protective magic and will produce powerful spells. Rigid wands, however, find themselves in the hands of those not lightly swayed from their opinions and prefer owners of rough but powerful personalities.[/div][/div]

 78. [span style="letter-spacing:2px;"]TV TROPE[/span]   Earn Your Happy Ending
 79.    The basic idea of this trope is that a cast of characters in a story go through a lot more hardship, anguish and grief than is really necessary. In the end, however, you see them get their happily-ever-after. Though humans may act bad and the world may seem like it's a crapsack, that doesn't mean that the worst villain is beyond redemption, or that things can't be improved with hard work or even The Power of Love. Life is hard, and worse, it's long; there's no promise of a Happily-Ever-After, but there is something better on the horizon. You have gone through hell, maybe by yourself, maybe with other people, but there is an end.

 150.     Presumably, at least one of Moth's parents was wixen, and if not so directly then it must have appeared somewhere in his family tree, as he himself is a wizard. Born with the innate ability to utilise magic, Moth was accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at age eleven, where he began to learn control over his spell-casting. He displays very weak magical prowess, and is not particularly gifted in any area of magic, showing no aptitude for potions or flying either. Moth personally wonders if this is due to his being raised with Muggles, though there is no evidence for magical blood purity nor environment having any influence on the strength of magic of the child.

Moth comes off as aggressive to strangers, often seen with a stormy look on his face, thunder gathering in the meeting of his brows, and harsh words falling from his lips. He does not trust adults in particular, and it is rare for him to meet someone whom he will warm to in the first instance of their acquaintance. This ire, if provoked, can lead to Moth burning bridges that have not even had a chance to form—it seems he is self-sabotaging, too concerned with the possibilty that another adult might let him down that he is content to not even give them a chance.
 161.
 162. When Moth's trust is earnt however, it is remarkably easy to lose, though that's not to say he is a fickle friend—quite the opposite really, as Moth values his friendships more than anything. He is undyingly loyal to those around him, wanting so desperately to be proven wrong in his steadfast belief that everyone will eventually let him down, even if he will not admit it to himself. Loyal, protective, brave and intelligent, Moth can make as good a friend as he can a formidable enemy.
 163.
 164. Many adults will tell you that the problem with Moth is that he doesn't apply himself—if only he tried, they'd lament, he could achieve great things. The truth is quite the opposite: Moth does try, incredibly hard in fact, and yet when it feels that his tireless efforts are gaining him nothing, he is prone to abandoning the endeavour altogether. Despite his natural intelligence and curiosity for the world around him, Moth's magical prowess is somewhat lacking, and he struggles to see past this point of insecurity, deciding instead to write off the entire idea of giving it his best attempt.
 165.
 166. With the nature of his childhood circumstance comes innate attachment issues; Moth has a deep-seated fear of abandonment, which often manifests in the form of his lashing out, wanting to test the boundaries of love and loyalty. He often feels that he needs to feel out exactly where the jagged edges of patience lie, just so he knows where not to push—trouble being that he often pushes too far in his pursuit of the edge of love, and finds himself in hot water. Moth will do practically anything for adult attention, positive or negative, and so he acts out frequently.[/div][div align="center"][/div]
[/tbody]
[/div]

 181.     As a newborn, Moth was surrendered by his biological mother to a French hospital; he has no contact with any of his biological family, nor does he even know who they are as he was left anonymously. Moth was named by his foster parents, and has never been interested in attempting to locate his biological family. Presumably, at least one wix must be in Moth's family tree, though how closely they were related to him is impossible to decipher.
