  2. To the St. George’s School:
  3. I am writing to you in the hopes that I may attend your school for a thirteenth year after I graduate my current secondary school in 2012. I think that additional schooling in a foreign country would be beneficial to both my character and my studies if I take A-Levels. My subjects of choice would be Spanish, film, and English language; these would interest me as well as possibly help count towards college graduation when I go back Stateside. I plan on a double-major in film and journalism, so the subjects I picked will set me forth in the right direction for that.
  4. While attending St. George’s would certainly help me along when it comes to academics, traveling to and experiencing another country is valuable in and of itself. I would be sharing a flat with a friend who is also coming overseas with me, and this alone will be something of a crash-course in independent living. I much look forward to the prospect of visiting and backpacking Wales, specifically the Tintern Abbey ruins where Wordsworth and so many others wrote.
  5. In fact the literary culture of Britain is one of the main reasons I wish to visit it and reside there. Throughout the British Literature course I am taking, I have been enthralled by British writers such as Blake, Browning, Yeats, and Orwell. Studying in Britain will not only give me a chance to see the country that spawned them, but also the opportunity to study their work in greater detail. A cultural aspect of England I find fascinating is the two-tone ska revival of the 1970s, and while I am sure there are no skinheads left, it will be interesting to see the places that it encompassed.
  6. In short, travel, study, and culture lead me to Britain, and I hope that something can be worked out. I have put my contact information at the top of the page so you all can reach me if there are any questions or concerns.
  7. Thank you.
