  1. **Liure**
  2. Liure is a wild and untamed world, composed of a single supercontinent and countless islands littered around. Six cities are scattered around the land, all surrounded in large, imposing walls to protect from the dangers outside. The cities are connected by wide paths bordered by these same walls, referred to simply as Trails. Some go for hundreds of miles, and the structures in and of themselves are truly amazing feats of architecture. They were put up centuries prior through the effort of a large number of mages, and have stood there since, as pristine and white as the day they were formed.
  3. The Trails themselves sometimes act as settlements of their own. Entire towns have sprung up at points along the longer Trails, and it's a very common sight to see people living or camping nearby the larger cities.
  4. Each of the six cities is distinct from the others. The 'capital,' Ka, is the most versitile of any of the others. This acts as a hub to the other five, and each of the four humanoid races can be found here in large numbers; humans, elves, dwarves, and drow. According to their history, the Drow used to be at odds with the others, but due to the threats from outside, they were forced to put aside these differences.
  5. The second city far to the north, Sirae, lies the furthest from all the others. The Trail connecting it and the capital is the longest by far, stretching over four hundred miles north. At one point, it passes directly through a range of mountains, and this has become a sort of tourist attraction. Despite the popularity it's quite dangerous, as the dangers that live caves have often found their way inside. These tend to be of an arachnid descent.
  6. The city itself is a frigid and unforgiving place, lying in a cold valley within the range of mountains. It is by far dominated by the Drow, as they feel most at home surrounded by the tall peaks, and the cold does not bother them as much as it does the other races. Much of the metal used throughout the civilization comes from here.
  7. The third city lies to northeast, although far more east than north. It borders an ocean, and is known as Illuran. Due to the relative ease and safety of fishing compared to hunting in a forest, the Cities tend to eat seafood as their main diet, and it is gathered here. It’s not without its’ risks after all, as the horrors of the sea are hostile and numerous. Despite efforts made to protect the fishermen, deaths are not terribly uncommon. As for the population, Elves are the most numerous here. According to their oldest texts, they came from across the sea, and feel most at home there. Illuran is the closest city to Ka, only around twelve miles away.
  8. The fourth city is almost directly opposite the second, located roughly eighty miles to the south. Dwarves have taken clear claim of this arid city known as Dira, the dry air and brush reminding them of their home. Contrary to common lore, these dwarves did not live underground or in mountains, but rather resided in a harsh and unforgiving desert. It gave rise to an equally harsh and unforgiving people. This is mostly a residential city, providing much cheaper housing than in the capital.
  9. The fifth city is nestled in a vast forest roughly 200 miles to the west, and provides the other part of the Cities’ food stores. This city, Zae, is much like the capital in the makeup of races, not having any clear predominant race. Most of those who live here, however, are of a ‘harder’ sort than the rest. The forests are thought of as the most dangerous places, having all sorts of terrible creatures within them.
  10. The sixth and final city, Nephel, is the only city to have been created after the original five. It lies around thirteen miles past Zae, and is – strikingly – without a Trail to connect it to anywhere else. A trail (lowercase) has been carved through the forest connecting the two, and the walls surrounding this are nowhere near those of the original Cities. Despite this, those living there have had successful lives. And yet, there’s a mystery about this town. Rumors abound that the people here are somehow friendly with the monsters, and having it known you are from Nephel is cause for suspicion from most ‘normal’ folk.
  11.
  12. **Monsters**
  13. The monsters themselves have many descriptions. Tales of massive, terrible animals abound, ranging from bears far larger than bears should ever grow, to infamous dragons themselves. Some are said to be able to take the shape of humans, and rumors have begun circulating that these creatures use their forms to trick ‘real’ people to their deaths – or more worryingly, slip into the Cities undetected.
  14.
  15. **Magic**
  16. Magic is as wild and untamed as the lands outside the Cities, taking on an almost infinite number of forms. It is not learned, but instead gained throughout one’s life, although many people do not ever develop magical abilities, and even among those that do, it’s not uncommon for the magic gained to be nothing more than mere party tricks. Despite this, the upper limits of what can be attained is nearly nonexistent; the Cities and Trails themselves are physical evidence of what a truly powerful mage can accomplish.
  17. As for how it is treated, there is no widespread prejudice against it. Individuals might make their own opinions of it, but for the most part it is viewed as a normal part of life.
