  1. Jake slammed his door behind him, his whole room shaking as he stomped his feet as loudly as he could to his bed. He lunged onto his mattress, trying to put it through the floor, “I HATE THIS STUPID HOUSE!” He screamed at the top of his voice.
  2. His mother wouldn't let him go out and he really wanted to see a movie with his friends, he was sick of it, she never let him do anything anymore. He was thinking of what to say when he walked into the kitchen and started arguing. Over the past few weeks, Jake and his mum hadn't been getting along as well as they used to. It hadn't been long ago that they had been peaceful together, they would sit down every night to eat dinner and watch TV together, talking about whatever they wanted. Something had changed though, they never sat down together anymore, their relationship had been getting progressively worse. What Jake and his mum used to have was perfect, he wished it would go back to what it was. Every time Jake wanted to go out or wanted his mum to do something for him, his mother would refuse. This was it, it was the final straw, he was going to walk up to her and set things straight once and for all.

  4. Stomping through the house again, back to the kitchen, making as much noise as possible to show his frustration, Jake stepped through the doorway and began. “Mum, I've had it! You don't let me go out and you don't help me out when I need you anymore. You never want me to have fun! ARGH what's your problem?!”
  5. “Jake, calm down, I didn't know this is how you felt but please let's not argue...”
  6. “I don't care about arguing or not mum. This place sucks with you around, I hate this house, I hate this life and I hate you!” Jake yelled.
  7. “Jake you don't mean that, you're just angry that I didn't let you go out and I understand that, but you need to realise why I don't let you go out as much anymore, I don't enjoy seeing you not happy, I just want to help you,” Jake's mother, Catherine, responded rather calmly.
  8.
  9. “Help me?! How, how in the world could what you're doing every help me? You never let me go out and you are never willing to do things for me. How is that helping me? All I want is to have fun for my childhood, why won't you let me do that? It's what I should be allowed to do, you're just making my life suck” Jake explained, clearly calming down.
  10. “Jake, I don't want you always going out because you really need to focus on your schooling. I know this year doesn't matter much, but next year you're in year 12 and it's a very important year. Next year you just wont have the time to go out. I just want you to get used to not going out this year so next year won't be as hard. Also Jake, I love you, I want to spend more time with you and I'm never able to do that when you go out all the time. You only grow up once and I'd like to be able to share your childhood with you,” Catherine explained, now stopping what she was doing and walking toward Jake.
  11.
  12. “But why don't you let me do anything? I know you want to spend time with me mum, I want to spend time with you too, I want to be able to sit down with you like we used to even just to watch TV together, but I want to spend time with my friends too.”
  13. “I know Jake, I miss what it was like too. How about we make a deal? From now on, I'll let you go out with your friends like you used to, but you have to promise me you won't go out as much. Some weekends you can just stay home with your mommy and we can spend time together, just you and I, how does that sound?” Reasoned Catherine.
  14. They were now standing next to each other. Jake's facial features relaxed now, offering some sympathy in his voice when he spoke,
  15. “That sounds quite reasonable mum, I'm sorry for yelling at you.”
  16. Jake hugged his mum briefly, not wanting to seem soft. Catherine tried to hold on as he pulled away.
  17. “Good, now how about today you begin by finishing of your homework for the weekend?”
  18. “Alright mum,” Jake said as he walked out of the kitchen.
