- ********************************************************************************
- TERRA
- Sage
- WoB: 5 Maduin, 5 Carbunkl
- (+5 Magic, +125 MP, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 15 Maduin, 5 Carbunkl
- (+15 Magic, +125 MP, +20 Stamina)
- ---
- Thematic build, though non-optimal. Build magic and MP.
- Biggest practical use is stronger Ultima in endgame
- Has MP for elementals, heals, & summons in mid/late game
- Alternate MP espers are Phoenix, or even Ragnarok
- Alternate idea is no MP, just pure Maduin
- Magitek Knight
- WoB: 5 Bismark, 5 Unicorn
- (+10 Vigor, +150 HP, +5 Stamina)
- WoR: 15 Bismark, 5 {Unicorn or Phoenix}
- (+30 Vigor, +150 HP, +5 Stamina)
- ---
- Fighter Terra. Kill stuff with magic swords.
- Outclassed by stam Terra though.
- Use elemental blades for WoB, auto-crit for WoR.
- Boomerang & Scimitars provide dual-wield options
- Morph for glass cannon. Use Image & elemental immunities
- Can stack Morph, dual-wield, Berserk for ultimate damage
- Can run cover/counter strats, even with lower stamina
- Can grab more HP if desired, or even go full vigor
- Goddess
- WoB: 10 Unicorn
- (+300 HP, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 10 Unicorn, 10 Tritoch
- (+300 HP, +30 Stamina)
- ---
- Game's best build. Use this build if you're power-gaming
- WoB, Bulky healer with good magic & summons
- WoR, does almost everything well.
- Elemental destruction goddess for boss killing
- Can use Atma & Morph for fighting or cover/counter
- Or continue being great bulky healer.
- Has BIG regen ticks when Morphed.
- Can grab pure Unicorn (HP) if desired
- Can grab some Carbunkl levels if desired
- CELES
- Magitek Knight
- WoB: 5 Seraph, 5 {Ramuh or Phantom}
- (+150 HP, +75 MP, {+10 Vigor or +5 Vigor/Stamina})
- WoR: 8 {Seraph or Crusader}, 12 {Ramuh or Phantom}
- ({+480 HP or +240 HP / +120 MP}, {+24 Vigor or +12 Vigor/Stamina})
- ---
- Bulky fighter and red mage.
- Many sub-build options, but rather modest in overall power
- Use mix of Fight, cover/counter, and Magic/Runic.
- Cover/Counter is strongest use, and very thematic
- In magitek factory, Morning Star + Scimitar is strong
- Use elemental blades mid-game.
- Switch to auto-crit after Daryl's
- Don't forget her support options!
- Adjust exact ratio of given espers as you please
- Alternate idea is pure Seraph Celes. Good for support magic too
- Or even risk it with a pure Phantom cover/counter tank in heavy armor
- Team Momma
- WoB: 5 Seraph, 5 Siren
- (+150 HP, +75 MP, +5 magic, +5 speed)
- WoR: 8 {Seraph or Crusader}, 12 {Siren or Alexander}
- ({+480 HP or +240 HP / +120 MP}, {+12 Magic or +12 Stamina}, +12 Speed)
- ---
- Bulky support Celes, and she's excellent at the job.
- Excellent healer all game.
- Good elemental magic too, especially in late WoB.
- Can still use Illumina fairly well.
- Siren is preferable for Cure 2 and elemental damage.
- Alexander preferable for more tankiness.
- Adjust exact ratio of given espers as you please.
- Can even go extreme; pure tankiness (Seraph), or pure speed (Siren/Alex)
- Sage
- WoB: 5 Seraph, 5 Shiva
- (+150 HP, +75 MP, +10 Magic)
- WoR: 8 {Seraph or Alex}, 12 Shiva
- (+480 HP or +240 HP / +120 MP, +24 Magic)
- ---
- Maximize numbers with Holy, Merton, elementals, and Cure 2.
- Otherwise similar to support Celes build.
- Can get 3 Flameguards for Merton set-up. Use Gau/Gogo for 4th
- Adjust exact ratio of given espers as you please.
- LOCKE
- Fighter
- WoB: 5 Ramuh, 5 Kirin
- (+10 Vigor, +150 HP, +5 stamina)
- WoR: 12 Ramuh, 8 Phoenix
- (+24 Vigor, +240 HP, +120 MP)
- ---
- Stabbity stab Locke. He's fun. Locke can stack high evade
- Elementals swords mid-game, Valiance late-game.
- Boomerang, scimitars, and daggers provide dual-wield options.
- Phoenix esper preferred over Kirin for that MP
- Can go more Ramuh, but remember: Locke likes his MP
- Thief:
- WoB: 5 Ifrit, 5 Kirin
- (+10 Speed, +150 HP, +5 stamina)
- WoR: 15 Ifrit, 5 Phoenix
- (+30 Speed, +150 HP, +75 MP)
- ---
- Don't use this unless you're challenging yourself.
- Speed Locke is fast, but he really needs more MP.
- ("That's treasure hunter!")
- X-Mage
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 15 Phoenix, 5 Ifrit
- (+450 HP, +225 MP, +5 Speed)
- ---
- "Game's best healer". Has X-Life2.
- Also has X-Fire3 for murdering WoR bosses.
- X-Cure/Life is best used for doubling up on lower level magics
- Find that Lazy Shell to give Locke some good armor
- Can go pure Phoenix if you want.
- Paladin
- WoB: 10 Kirin
- (+300 HP, +10 stamina)
- WoR: 15 Kirin, 5 Phoenix
- (+600 HP, +15 stamina, +75 MP)
- ---
- He defends everyone, not just the ladies.
- Superb tank for WoB.
- For WoR, can run Cover and/or play with Atma + Valiance.
- Shines better in the WoB though.
- Can go pure Kirin, but Locke likes his MP
- EDGAR
- Dragoon
- WoB: 10 Golem
- (+10 Vigor, +200 HP)
- WoR: 10 Golem, 10 Palidor
- (+20 Vigor, +200 HP, +10 Speed)
- ---
- He jump like Super Mario.
- He jump with spear. He jump with elemental sword.
- Oh, and there's Drill and Chainsaw too.
- Use Tools early on. Dragoon comes into its own after magitek.
- Spears' HP boost gives him more HP than the build suggests
- Don't forget your support! Nirvana Band's boost goes a LONG way.
- Golem's great too!
- Can go pure Palidor if desired.
- Engineer
- WoB: 5 Siren, 5 Unicorn
- (+150 HP, +5 speed, +5 magic, +5 stamina)
- WoR: 15 Siren, 5 Unicorn
- (+150 HP, +15 speed, +15 magic, +5 stamina)
- ---
- Healer Edgar, boasting a free revive and an MP restore.
- Can make decent use of Cure 2 as well.
- Use for either revive spam, or to feed some mana hungry builds.
- Build-defining tools don't come until WoR;
- so mostly just does Edgar stuff in WoB.
- Adjust exact amount of esper levels as you please.
- Red Mage
- WoB: 5 Golem, 5 Siren
- (+100 HP, +5 Vigor, +5 Speed, +5 Magic)
- WoR: 10 {Golem or Palidor}, 10 Siren
- (+10 Vigor, +10 Speed, +10 Magic, {+200 HP or another +10 Speed})
- ---
- Hybrid vig/mag build. Some like it, some hate it.
- Palidor gives the build a speed focus. Equip spears for HP boost.
- Or embrace full hybridness with Golem.
- Sentinel
- WoB: 10 Unicorn
- (+300 HP, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 20 Unicorn
- (+600 HP, +20 Stamina)
- ---
- lul, stam Edgar. Mostly a lulz.
- Has some utility with Blood Sword + Falchion cover/counter.
- And some big Golem HP.
- SABIN
- Martial Artist
- WoB: 10 Golem
- (+200 HP, +10 Vigor)
- WoR: 20 Golem
- (+400 HP, +20 Vigor)
- ---
- He can Suplex everything now. Master Duncan is proud.
- For WoB, Blitz is all you need. Er, well, Golem's great too.
- For WoR, learn to use elemental claws. Berserk pairs well with them.
- Falls off by endgame. Functional, but no longer carries the team.
- If desired, can sacrifice a few Golem levels for Terrato instead.
- Monk
- WoB: 10 Stray
- (+20 Stamina)
- WoR: 15 Stray, 5 Terrato
- (+30 Stamina, +300 HP)
- ---
- Mana healing build. Use this to maximize the Chakra blitz.
- Big regen ticks and Mantra have good synergy too.
- Plays like vigor build in WoB. Aurabolt's decent in WoR.
- Don't forget that you still have Golem!
- Adjust exact ratio of esper levels as desired.
- Red Belt
- WoB: 8 Golem, 2 Stray
- (+160 HP, +8 Vigor, +4 Stamina)
- WoR: 8 Golem, 8 Stray, 4 Terrato
- (+400 HP, +8 Vigor, +16 Stamina)
- ---
- Hybrid vig/stam build.
- Build vigor first. Sabin's stamina Blitzes come later.
- Going without Terrato is risky. Sabin needs HP.
- Use only if you want to boost both Chakra & physical damage.
- Meat Mountain
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 20 Terrato
- (+1200 HP)
- ---
- So I hear you like having 3000+ HP?
- Best lategame build?
- CYAN
- Samurai
- WoB: 10 Bismark
- (+20 Vigor)
- WoR: 15 Bismark, 5 Crusader
- (+30 Vigor, +300 HP)
- ---
- Premier slice and dice build.
- Hit hard with Bushido. Has nice counter-attacks too.
- Suffers from low mid-game HP. Maybe best to take a few more Crusaders?
- Also, hard-walled by high p.def foes.
- Wind Kami
- WoB: 10 Kirin
- (+300 HP, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 20 Kirin
- (+600 HP, +20 Stamina)
- ---
- Easy mode BNW. Can hard carry the mid-game.
- Face-tank everything and Empowerer right back up.
- Do big AoE damage with cover + counter + wind katanas.
- Dragon's also nice in the mid-game.
- Regen's nice too, I suppose.
- Tbh, it's better than Samurai build.
- SHADOW
- Shadow:
- WoB: 10 Phantom
- (+10 Vigor, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 10 Phantom, 10 Fenrir
- (+20 Speed, +10 Vigor, +10 Stamina)
- ---
- Not really a big difference between his builds.
- Tiger:
- WoB: 10 Phantom
- (+10 Vigor, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 20 Phantom
- (+20 Vigor, +20 Stamina)
- ---
- Emphasizes his physical damage with Throw and counter-attacks.
- Lotus:
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 20 Fenrir
- (+40 Speed)
- ---
- Emphasize raw speed, for utility and magic scrolls.
- SETZER
- Healer
- WoB: 10 Seraph
- (+300 HP, +150 MP)
- WoR: 10 Seraph, 10 Shoat
- (+300 HP, +150 MP, +20 Magic)
- ---
- Healer build. Bulk up in the WoB, then boost your Cures and Slots.
- Slots do big damage mid-game. More minor lategame.
- But hey, you still got a bigger Go Fish.
- Otherwise, does Setzer things: Rerise, X-Fight, Shoat summon, etc.
- X-fight with daggers can do nice damage mid-WoR.
- Use with Fixed Dice in Kefka's Tower.
- A pure Seraph set-up is affectionately known as "The Bank"
- $$$
- WoB: 10 Seraph
- (+300 HP, +150 MP)
- WoR: 10 Seraph, 10 Starlet
- (+300 HP, +150 MP, +20 Stamina)
- ---
- GP Toss build. Main boast is strong, consistent damage.
- Also has a stronger RegenX, which is nice.
- Bit of a late-bloomer though.
- Can go for pure Starlet if desired.
- GAU
- Berserker
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 20 Fenrir
- (+40 Speed)
- ---
- Thou! Thou Thou!!
- It's Gau. Love him or hate him.
- Speed build goes all in with Gau being Gau.
- Gau's Too Complicated
- WoB: 10 Stray
- (+20 Stamina)
- WoR: 20 Stray
- (+40 Stamina)
- ---
- Simplified Gau.
- Stamina's defensive perks sorta cover for Rage's defensive perks.
- Has a handful of multi-purpose stamina-damage Rages.
- And even the coveted Harvester.
- Use this if you want to play an easier-to-understand Gau.
- MOG
- Dancer
- WoB: 10 Maduin
- (+10 Magic, +10 Stamina)
- WoR: 15 Maduin, 5 Terrato
- (+15 Magic, +15 Stamina, +300 HP)
- ---
- Premier Dance set-up.
- Blow things up with water and earth elements,
- while dancing the coveted Harvester with forest.
- And you still even got Shoat summon! And rods!
- Exceptionally strong in the mid-game.
- Struggles in lategame. Earth Blues is still nice though.
- Don't forget to equip the Moogle Charm!
- Has very minor utility with Sage Stone.
- X-Mog
- WoB: 10 Shoat
- (+20 Magic)
- WoR: 15 Shoat, 5 Terrato
- (+30 Magic, +300 HP)
- ---
- Natural catastrophe Mog.
- Maximize water and earth damage in mid-game.
- Switch to Sage Stone in WoR, go ham with wind and earth damage.
- Very high damage potential, but requires a lot of support,
- and X-Quake is hit-or-miss on when it works.
- Also maximizes Rod spellcasts.
- Has nice utility with X-Haste.
- Mogoon
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 15 Palidor, 5 Terrato
- (+300 HP, +15 Vigor, +15 Speed)
- ---
- Simple and easy lategame dragoon.
- Equip Moogle Charm and Dragoon Seal, and go Jump.
- Or use a Rod like a beatstick! It actually works quite well!
- Don't forget Mog's other skills! High speed helps there as well.
- The Great Wall of Mog
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 20 Terrato
- (+1200 HP)
- ---
- So I hear you like having 3000+ HP?
- Best lategame build?
- STRAGO
- Black Mage
- WoB: 5 Zoneseek, 5 Shiva
- (+15 Magic, +100 MP)
- WoR: 10 Zoneseek, 10 Shiva
- (+30 Magic, +200 MP)
- ---
- Blow things up with magic build.
- Use elementals and AoEs mid-game. Rod (counter)attacking is good too.
- Blow things up with X-Dark in lategame.
- Snag Sage Stone asap.
- Use Raid and X-Osmose to keep your MP tank full.
- Don't forget your support! Refract, Holy Wind, Shield, Shell, etc.
- Even attack Strago can spend a lot of time running support.
- Elemental gear and high mg.def can let Strago laugh off magic.
- Adjust exact ratio of esper levels as desired.
- Pure Shiva is an option.
- Blue Mage
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 15 Odin, 5 Carbunkl
- (+35 Stamina, +125 MP)
- ---
- Overkill stamina Strago.
- With so much good support, Strago can be run as pure support.
- So might as well build defense if not using his offense.
- Also has fart rod if you want to be cute with your damage.
- RELM
- Little Ms Overkill
- WoB: 10 Zoneseek
- (+10 Magic, +200 MP)
- WoR: 15 Zoneseek, 5 Ifrit
- (+15 Magic, +300 MP, +5 Speed)
- ---
- The "spam Flare and Meteor" build.
- Hit hard, has MP to support said spam, boosts Osmose.
- Has total overkill on her Cure 3 numbers too.
- Really wants a Crystal Orb though, and tends to be outclassed by Terra.
- Pure Zoneseek is an option too.
- Shadow
- WoB: 10 Ifrit
- (+20 Speed)
- WoR: 15 Ifrit, 5 Bahamut
- (+30 Speed, +200 MP)
- ---
- Speedy girl Relm. Arguably her best set-up.
- Plenty of speed for timely heals and Rerise spam.
- Can launch Bahamut quickly to wipe a random (or just Warp out)
- Not bad on damage thanks to raw speed. Still wants Crystal Orb though.
- Pure Ifrit is an option too.
- Relmception
- WoB: n/a
- WoR: 15 Starlet, 5 Bahamut
- (+30 Stamina, +200 MP)
- ---
- RegenX Relm.
- Unless you kill Shadow (you monster!). Then you get stam-damage dog.
- If desired, can combo RegenX with Black Heart and Reflect strats.
- Mixing Starlet and Ifrit is an alternate build option here.
