Shellie's backstory

Once upon a time, there was a Dragon-Turtle Anami, this anami had grown up hearing stories of great heroes and legendary journeys and became inspired from a young age to go out into the world and collect these stories on his own. However, over time his goal began to change, everyone already knew such legendary tales so he thought to himself "What of forgotten tales of smaller and far-flung heroes?" So he set off on a journey and spent many years collecting these tales. One day however, he came across an ancient tower and was filled with curiousity, inside he found an old forgotten Layline, an ancient stone golem carved into the shape of a young woman with a strangely primitive staff-like hand-cannon by her side. Unscrupulous creatures had made the tower their home and he had no choice but to use his latent magic to reawaken the layline, with a loud blur of magical motion the layline struck down the creatures with multiple blasts of magical ammunition and a swirl of fire magic. From that day on the layline followed the anami and they had many adventures together. He came to teach her of his goals and journey and in turn she began to evolve and see the world past her former designation as a layline built for war. Over time, she came to foster an overwhelming love for the stories they gathered together and in turn her and the anami grew closer and became dear friends, she even took on the name "Shellie" as a reference to her friend. As with all things, eventually the anami grew too old to continue traveling and her final task for him was to return him to his home, which she managed to do. She then took up his mantle and became a traveler in her own right, gathering stories as he had once done.
