  1. First and last time I played FFX (texts sent to a friend who played and loves FFX)
  2. So, I have a bad history with FF
  3. I played FF4, 5, 6
  4. I couldn't beat any of those because of how agonizing they are to play
  5. Everything else is great: the music, characters, visuals, game feel, etc.; but I cannot play through the games themselves
  6. it's a painful experience
  7. I went into FFX thinking it was a bit different, and it was. I didn't have a heart attack when I opened the status screen, which was a nice step in the right direction.
  8. The opening cinematic was cool as shit, and the pacing was decent and eased you into the game. Then I got sucked into Sin, the fucking space water vagina.
  9. And floated/swam around in the aethers of what I assumed was the clitoris for a hefty chunk of time.
  10. Or the urethra, coulda been either one. The the game introduced me into the exploration aspect of FF quite nicely. Finding the flint for FIYAH.
  11.
  12. Then I fought a boss and was introduced to character-specific skills.
  13. Everything was all fine and dandy. Then the foreign language was made known. It was super interesting. Like "What are they saying?" It was all great until the sphere grid tutorial.
  14. It was long and pointless.
  15. Everything was self-explanatory and I didn't need an enormous explanation on every single detail. The grid itself is super simple looking, too. About a quarter of the way through, I monster mashed X to the end. Then I ran into a design flaw FF 1-10 all have: vague plot-progressions.
  16. In every FF game I've played, there has never been a clear indicator as to what progresses the game. Could be a location, or an item, or a character, or whatever.
  17. In this case, it was masked cute girl. She was what activated the tutorial, so I spoke to her again to get insight on the plot, only to watch Tidus dive into the ocean without any context as to why.
  18. I hadn't saved yet, so I immediately went back to save and explored the ship like a new sexuality.
  19. I found the first translator piece and I was like "I can translate it! o:" I then went to the three stooges who spoke-a no engrish, went to the dude on the right on a whim. A few of his letters were changed, and he was asking a question. The given responses were "Yes." and "What?" I chose "what?" cause I don't speak russian, and there was no reaction. I spoke to him again chose "Yes."
  20. I am now back in the unskippable sphere grid tutorial and my controller remains where I tossed it.
