- Carson F. Fields is a middle manager for a subsidiary of Horizon, NuGlo Productions, an advertisement company specializing in trideo mock-ups. He's a man who puts on his pants one leg at a time, goes to work, and goes home like any other wageslave in Los Angeles. He is most certainly not a shadowrunner.
- Carson A. Fields, once upon a time, worked for the Dawkins group. And he was damn good at his job, closing situations that most would consider entirely unsolvable. He was a troubleshooter during his time, and while he worked with an identity that was entirely cloned from someone else's, with a life and history that was not his own, Carson did miracles. And when his miracle-working simply couldn't cut the chase, a bullet or a very covert bombing usually would.
- He was a man who grew up in Horizon, lived and breathed the corp in his every waking moment. And it was good to him, for a time anyway. Good enough that his loyalty was never in question, not until the one Op that managed to make everyone look at him a little funny. To make his handlers question his behavior. See, Carson A. Field broke the first rule of any stealth operative: He fell in love.
- Unfortunately, it was with the wrong elf. The wrong Tir Ghost. When his handler demanded her death before she could spill classified information, Carson found himself unable to pull the trigger for the first time in his life. He found his critical moment of weakness, and the corp's value for him plummetted in that moment. Oh sure, he wasn't being killed, or hunted. But he did find his bank accounts empty, most of his usual contacts drying up and refusing to talk to him, and nothing on his person but a fancy suit and a hold-out pistol.
- So Carson did what he was trained to do in the wake of his burn notice; he made friends. And for someone as skilled as him at doing it, he made an awful lot of friends. The sorts of people in the shadows that find uses for men like him. Someday, eventually, he'll find out exactly who burned him from the Dawkins group. And eventually, he'll climb his way back up into a legitimate life.
- But for now, he'll keep running the shadows. Looking damn good doing it.
