she's a friendly person who gets along well with others but she's someone who after her surgery, would rather stay out of the spotlight and only with the people she's really comfortable with. she hates being in the center of attention with people she doesn't know very well and isn't the type to start a conversation with anyone, not that she could speak to them anyways. she's absolutely fine with spending her day alone, earpieces in and listening to her favourite songs while focusing on her work and admiring the little things around her.

. self-conscious !
she may be constantly smiling and telling others to always stay positive despite other's opinions but sometimes she contradicts herself. it's really not easy to stay positive all the time when you have people calling you things like an attention seeker or a mime for not being able to speak. she sometimes wished she never had gone through the surgery, either she didn't have that lymph node and lived peacefully as a normal choir girl or just let the lymph node kill her. her friends and family are what keep those nasty thoughts at bay, knowing she couldn't just leave them like that.


background : ike arisu was born into an average family in kyoto, having one older brother with an age gap of 2 years. she and her brother were pretty close, growing up as average siblings who played together when they weren't bickering. their parents were constantly busy working because they really wanted their children to have a good education. that left asuka to take care of his little sister majority of the time and as they entered school together, he became protective of her after a few bullying incidents. they promised each other that no matter what happens they would stay positive, not do anything stupid and be there for each other.

now arisu was your normal well behaved student growing up, she maintained her grades as best as she could and was polite to her teachers and schoolmates. she was in the choir, having a love for music and singing in front of an audience. her normal childhood changed when she turned 18, discovering that she has a lymph node in her throat that had to be removed before it got any worse. her parents were really worried for her and took her the hospital, not caring how expensive the operation was going to be. the doctors said that they were lucky they noticed it in an early stage and the surgery was able to successfully remove the lymph node, but unfortunately the price to pay was damaged vocal chord nerves. she would have to continue her life without being able to speak.

a week or two after the failed surgery, she picked up the courage to return to school knowing her friends were probably worried for her and she was missing out on a lot. she walked into school, not having told anyone about her lost voice before returning, trying to answer their flood of questions as best as she could. word about her inability to speak went around school pretty fast, and of course not everyone believed it. a rumor started up that she was only going mute for attention and clout which made arisu really want to transfer school so that she could focus on her studies and not have unwanted attention while walking down the hallways. but she didn't transfer, she promised her brother she would stay positive and not do anything stupid no matter what others say and she knew she would miss her friends a lot too, the real ones who don't judge. and so she got used to communicating through writing, typing or body language even though it was pretty difficult at times. of course she still misses singing in the choir but she turned to art and dance instead and she hasn't regretted it.

. she's an arts student, she wanted to express herself with her art because she can't express herself with her voice.

. she self-learns dances when she's bored and alone but never dared to tell or show anyone because she's extremely insecure about it.
. will not hesitate to choke anyone who dares use the "she's so shocked she's literally speechless" joke on her ( she's heard it WAY too many times ).
