- First off, the best tip is to just have fun obviously. Some people are into looking up guides and just following them perfectly, rarely deviating from what they say do.
- The first real tip I would say is to quest. as a f2p, this isnt as much of a big deal, but if you decide to get membership then its the best way to progress your account. Most quests have requirements like certain levels in skills or previously completing other quests. so its a good way to have a guide to do things without following a strict guide. you can basically just go to your quest list, pick a random quest, look it up on the wiki, and figure out what you need to do in order to complete the quest. if you need to level up skills for a quest, then you can do a couple things. You can either level up the skill yourself, or you can search for the skill on the wiki and it will tell you what quests give you exp rewards for the skills you want to level up.
- The next good thing to look at are achievement diaries. Completing each tier for a region gives rewards. Some kinda suck, but others are insanely good. You cant do these though unless you are a member. so no need to worry about it right now.
- Now if you just want tips for training certain skills, like whats the best low effort way to train skills, this next part will list stuff you can do for each skill
- Combat - you just gotta kill monsters. You can look up on the wiki what are the best monsters for you to kill. I think for f2p though, its basically just kill things like chickens, cows, and goblins until you get to around like base level 20s, then you can kill giant frogs in the lumbridge swamp. Prayer, for you, will literally just be killing something that drops bones, pick it up, and bury them.
- Runecraft - this is one of the most boring skills to train for most people. I personally like it, but only as a member. In order to start training it, you will have to do a quest. But after that, its basically just go to the grand exchange, buy pure essence, then go to the highest altar that you can craft runes. the wiki will help out a lot here. you can see what you can train, where to train it, and what you need to train it.
- Crafting - This one is a boring one for me because there are really only 2 ways that you can train it on a main account. just buy shit on the grand exchange and use them to craft stuff. some times, you can buy supplies on the grand exchange, craft an item, then sell it on the GE for a profit. The other way is to get all the material yourself. which some find enjoyable, others just find it tedious. Things you can craft require leather, which you get as a drop from cows. gold, which is just from mining. gems, which you can get from a number of places, but the best place is to get them on the GE, this will lose you a lot of money though.
- Mining - The only thing you can do is mine the highest level ore you can mine. There are a few things you can do to speed things up exp wise and to help with low effort. 1 is to not bank. mine whatever you want, then just drop it at your feet. the other is to bank everything and use it for other skills like smithing, crafting, etc. Now the best afk mining thing you can do is called shooting starts. you can do them at level 1, but each shooting star has a tier to them. you can only do tier 1 stars at level 1... or level 10, cant remember. but every 10 levels, you can do a higher tier. the higher the tier, the longer they last. Once you start mining it, you dont stop until the star is gone or goes down a tier. some times, this can last upwards of like 10 minutes, i think. but the stars fall in random locations. you can either join a clan chat, i forget the name of it (you can either google it, its on the wiki. or you can ask me and i will look it up for you), or you can join a discord, put in your name, and search the discord to see where the stars are located. this is one of the slowest but best methods going from level 1 all the way to level 99
- smithing - this is either dependent on the items you get from mining or you just buy stuff on the GE, buy a hammer, go to an anvil (varrock has a good one next to a bank), and smith items. Start with bronze daggers, and work you way up.
- Fishing - step 1. go south of lumbridge. You can get a small fishing net here. Fish at the spots next to it until you hit level 20 fishing. then go to the ge and buy a fishing rod and bait. then go to the barbarian village to the west of varrock and fish there. for a f2p account, this is one of the only fishing training methods you can do that gives decent exp. most people sit here from level 20 until level 99. if you want something different, you can get a lobster pot and go fish lobsters. the wiki will tell you where you can fish them. you can do this to level 50, then get a harpoon and fish tuna or swordfish.
- cooking - the best way to level up cooking is buy cooking fish
- woodcutting - literally just cut the best trees you can
- firemaking - burn the best logs you can
- now the first big obvious tip is to combine fishing, cooking, woodcutting, and firemaking into one. when you go to fish, take the best axe you can use, a tinderbox, and a small fishing net. fish a full inventory of fish, the go chop a tree down, use the tinderbox on it, then cook all your fish on the fire. you can do this until 40, but when you go to fish at barbarian village, there is an everlasting fire there. so you will not need a tinderbox or axe.
- instead of combining all of those skills together though, you could just catch fish, drop them at your feet. then when you want to train woodcutting, take a tinderbox with you, cut a full inventory of logs, then burn them all. I would not recommend buying logs on the GE because you are literally just burning money at that point. if you ever plan to get membership, i wouldnt go much further than 50 firemaking anyway because there is a skilling boss you can kill that gives roughly 300k exp an hour.
- The best way to make things low effort though is to just mine something, fish something, whatever, then just drop it at your feet. But also, dont expect things to be afk in the sense of clicking once and not needing to for many minutes. usually if something is afk, its like click once every 10-30 seconds. most things are low effort. you just have to click a few times every couple of seconds, but you dont need to put your hands on a keyboard, and rarely have to take your eyes off whatever you are watching for longer than a couple seconds.
- One big thing that can help with dropping things is setting yourself up so when you click on an item, it drops to you feet. for mobile, i think its just click an option or something. if you are on computer, 1st I recommend you get runelite, there are a ton of plugins that make the game nicer and easier to play, 1 being something that allows you to change your left click and shift left click options on items. so you can have a specific item, like iron ore, the left click be to drop. then when you get a full inventory, just spam click every piece of iron ore in your inventory to drop them all.
- there are probably a ton of other things i cant think of right now because the game is huge once you get members, but is very limiting when you are just a f2p. best thing if you have a question is to search osrs and whatever you want to know. so if you want to figure out whats best to mine for you, just search osrs f2p mining, and you will probably be sent to a page that tells you every single things you could need to know. and its that way for every skill, every quest, every boss, whatever.
