  1.
  2. Outline - Wheel of Misfortune (4 Issue Arc)
  3.
  4. Summary:
  5.
  6. This arc takes place primarily on Westside Island and is framed as a game show that Eggman has put together. Orbot and Cubot act as commentators on the action throughout. The issue starts on a set looking sort of like Jeopardy or Wheel of Fortune, but with a lot of Eggman aesthetic, with Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Cream all chained to their particular podiums as Eggman appears in a kimono, kind of like how the host of Takeshi’s Castle would dress, stating that it’s time to play the Wheel of Misfortune.
  7.
  8. Each issue focuses on the characters having to play a sadistic game of Eggman’s in a different area of Westside Island after he spins the wheel. They have to race through the Wood Zone with a wildfire chasing after them, make their way across a desert in a sandstorm in Sand Shower Zone, find their way through a crystal maze in the Hidden Palace Zone, and finally fight against Eggman in a boss fight in Metropolis Zone. After all of this is finished, they’re declared the winners, walking away with a frankly gaudy trophy. It turns out to have a bomb in it, which Sonic lobs back at Eggman, resulting in a comic explosion to close us out.

  33.
  34. Issue 1
  35.
  36. Open on Orbot and Cubot welcoming the audience to the Wheel of Misfortune, a brand-new EggTV game show, featuring Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Cream, all looking annoyed or a bit fearful, chained to their podiums.
  37.
  38. Eggman, in a kimono, is introduced as the host of the game and explains the rules: four rounds of increasing difficulty in obstacle courses, full of deadly traps and challenges, ending with a challenge against Eggman himself in the fourth round at Metropolis Zone, with the winners (or as Eggman puts it, "survivors") walking away with a fabulous prize.
  39.
  40. Eggman spins the wheel to determine the first obstacle course, which is a race through Wood Zone. The four main characters are dropped through the floor from a low-hanging airship, landing in the foliage.
  41.
  42. They are pursued by a sweeping flamethrower machine that causes a wildfire, while a small army of Badniks tries to block their path.
  43.
  44. They manage to make their way through the course, using the Coconuts Badniks to clog up the flamethrowers, causing them to backfire and stop the spread of the fire.
  45.
  46. Eggman is annoyed as Orbot and Cubot provide commentary, before saying they’ll take a quick commercial break before moving to the next event.
  47.

  51.
  52. Issue 2
  53.
  54. Eggman spins the wheel a second time, revealing the next event: a trek across Sand Shower Zone.
  55.
  56. Orbot and Cubot claim they got their contestants there via Eggman Empire patented teleportation technology, with absolutely no downsides.
  57.
  58. Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Cream recover from the teleportation, their fur standing on end due to static electricity.
  59.
  60. The trek begins, and giant windmills and propeller machines activate, generating an artificial sandstorm that obscures their vision and forces them to stick together.
  61.
  62. Several desert-themed Badniks attack while they struggle through the storm.
  63.
  64. The final obstacle is a giant Antlion Badnik, similar to the one from Sonic 2 (Game Gear). They defeat it and reach the finish line.
  65.
  66. Eggman is visibly frustrated as Orbot and Cubot commentate, but Eggman threatens to dismantle them if they don't cut to a commercial break.
  67.

  71.
  72. Issue 3
  73.
  74. Orbot and Cubot joke about the "commercials" before returning to Eggman, who spins the wheel aggressively, nearly breaking it.
  75.
  76. The third round takes place in Hidden Palace Zone, inside a giant crystal maze.
  77.
  78. Eggman has rigged sections of the maze with explosives, causing trapdoors and collapsing ceilings to try and bury them.
  79.
  80. Cream and Tails, being able to fly, avoid most of the falling floor traps.
  81.
  82. The team coordinates through the maze while fighting Badniks and avoiding Eggman’s cave-in traps.
  83.
  84. Amy, frustrated, summons her hammer and starts smashing through the maze walls, creating a shortcut for the team.
  85.
  86. Eggman, furious, activates every bomb in the maze, forcing them to escape a crumbling cavern.
  87.
  88. He throws a tantrum, kicking the Wheel of Misfortune, which falls on top of him, much to Orbot and Cubot’s amusement.
  89.

  93.
  94. Issue 4
  95.
  96. The final round takes place in Metropolis Zone.
  97.
  98. The goal: Climb to the top of a tower and defeat "Emperor Eggman" to win the prize.
  99.
  100. The climb is full of Metropolis Zone’s infamous conveyor belts, Asterons, Shellcrackers, and Slicers.
  101.
  102. Upon reaching the top, they face Eggman in his Gacha Machine Egg-O-Matic from Sonic Mania, Metallic Madness.
  103.
  104. Eggman releases tiny robotic bomb clones of Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Cream. These chase the team and explode, damaging the arena.
  105.
  106. Cream notices that the clones instinctively grab onto whatever they hit. She tosses hers into the air, and it latches onto Eggman’s mech.
  107.
  108. The team starts knocking their clones into Eggman’s Egg-O-Matic, causing chain explosions that disable his machine.
  109.
  110. The heroes win and receive a gaudy trophy of Eggman, modeled after his classic grinning pose from Sonic 1's manual.
  111.
  112. No one wants the trophy, so Sonic tosses it back up to Eggman.
  113.
  114. Orbot and Cubot, now standing next to Eggman, lament the failure of "Emperor Eggman."
  115.
  116. Eggman smirks, revealing he planted a bomb inside the trophy and activates it.
  117.
  118. Unfortunately for him, the trophy lands right in front of him and starts glowing ominously.
  119.
  120. The screen cuts to TV static, followed by an explosion, as Cubot dryly notes: "Guess we’re not getting our deposit back on the filming equipment."
  121.
