Abyssal Depths

The hum of neon lighting fills my ears even as I listen to the advertisement i've heard again and again, there was a time when the promise of adventure like this excited me and made me wonder just what I would find, now however I know better than to go poking at what should never be found.

I was a Dark Diver, I plumbed these inky depths to find treasure and secrets lost to time but now I'm just a washed up drunk spending his time at any bar that will take him. How did I get this way? Well I'll tell ya. It was a few months ago, I had just gotten a mission to go with a crew to investigate some ancient ruins that had been uncovered in the abyssal zone. So I suited up and headed out, as excited as I always was for these types of adventures. Hours later, we found ourselves at the entrance to this place and it was...breath-taking. Ancient Runes hiding dark secrets, artifacts and ancient idols galore, what we didn't know was that all of our poking around had awoken an ancient guardian.

I still can't really say what that thing was, all i remember were all the tentacles lashing out at my crew and teeth sharper than any knife could ever be. The thing had grabbed me and ripped my arm off but...my suit's self defense mechanisms kicked in just in time, more than I could say for the poor fools who were left behind. The hole where my arm had been ripped off had been sealed up and the emergency jets in my suit kicked off rocketing me towards the surface at high speeds, I'm lucky the pressure equalization in my suit still worked or i imagined i would have died on my way back up.

I survived, I was taken to the emergency hospital that the dark divers had set up and I told them that it was time for me to retire, they fought of course considering how short-handed they are these days but I'd rather not face whatever the hell that creature was again. So I sit here in this bar, drinking away my sorrows as I live retirement check to retirement check. I leave you with a warning, if you do join the Dark Divers, don't go poking around in places that shouldn't be poked around in.
