  3. A standard-issue mecha unit produced by General Resource Ltd. for the UPEO. Designed to be produced and maintained inexpensively, the Defender is constructed with a fairly light chassis and armor. Its primary weapon is a rapid-firing submachine gun that can penetrate armor of similarly light mecha. The Defender is also equipped with four rocket-propelled 'Panzerfaust' grenades on its legs, with UPEO pilots advised to save these weapons mainly against targets too strong for the SMG to handle.

  5. For close combat, the Defender is also equipped with a shield and a beam saber. The forearm-mounted shield is fairly sturdy, giving the Defender added protection against projectile and melee attacks while closing in. The saber can inflict a surprising amount of damage in the hands of a skilled pilot.

  7. Despite the Defender's weapons loadout, it is considered suitable mainly for sentry and light patrol duties, easily outclassed and outgunned by military-grade mecha.
