- The biggest difference between GTL's old route and this new route is that the introduction of 2C makes it so that speed is not a problem (unless you have terrible speed). The basic route is shown below.
- Basic Route:
- Set your nature to Modest
- Catch an Abra on Route 7 while lured
- Before the Grimer guy:
- Candy Abra
- Swap Kadabra to slot 1
- B4F Grunt:
- Psybeam
- Jessie & James 2 (Partner Pokemon TBD):
- Psybeam Arbok + X Special Attack
- Psybeam Weezing + Heal Kadabra
- Archer (2C):
- Psybeam + X Special Attack
- Psybeam + X Defense
- Swap Graveler to the front
- Giovanni:
- X Attack x2 + Seldestruct
- Swap to Eevee
- Bouncy Bubble
- Before going to Lavender:
- Take Graveler and Eevee out of the party
- Heal Kadabra
- Fly to Lavender
- Psybeam Haunters
- Jessie & James 3 (Partner Pokemon TBD):
- Psybeam Arbok + X Special Attack
- Psybeam Weezing + Attack
- The route above requires different shopping. Currently this is my shopping:
- 9 Great Balls (300*6 = 1800)
- 14 Super Potions (700*14 = 9800)
- 2 Escape Ropes (2*300 = 600)
- 11 Lures (11*400 = 4400)
- 11 X Attacks (11*550 = 6050)
- 3 X Defenses (3*500 = 1500)
- 8 X Special Attacks (8*350 = 2800)
- 7 X Speeds (7*350 = 2450)
- 3 Guard Specs (3*700 = 2100)
- Total: 31500
- It's extremely hard to judge right now what the timesave is for this as I haven't done proper testing yet, but for now I'll put the advantages and disadvantages of the route and my guessed timesaves and losses.
- Time saves (~112s):
- Skip teaching Glitzy Glow (~15s)
- 1 turn Grimer (~6s)
- Heal + put Wiggly in menu (~15s)
- 2 turn J&J 2 + no sacrifice (~25s)
- 2 turn Archer (~12s)
- Haunters are not ranges (0s optimally)
- 2 turn J&J 3 + no sacrifice (~25s)
- No turn arounds (variable, ~8s on average if I had to guess)
- Skip teaching Double Edge [or you get it early and save turns] (~6s)
- Time losses (~59s + searching):
- Route 6 candy (~10s)
- Using Lure to find Abra (~6s)
- Searching for Abra (0s optimally)
- Pre-Grimer menu [timeloss does not count the level up + evolution as you get +1 on count] (~12s)
- Swapping Graveler before Giovanni (~4s)
- Slower Giovanni 1 fight (~5s)
- Swapping Kadabra back to slot 1 (~1s b/c you deposit Graveler and Eevee here)
- 2 extra Kadabra heals (~11s)
- Setting your nature (~10s)
- Total time save: 53s - time spend searching for Abra
