Crimson Mud excerpt - Roar

She wipes more tears from her eyes and looks at him sternly, "We need to stay calm and work
together." She tells him, taking a deep breath and composing herself. Her attempt at composure and to
seem like the calm leader is interrupted by another deafeningly loud noise, like some kind of
combination of a building coming crashing down combined with a primordial cry of anger and anguish
that is so loud and visceral that it almost feels like it might shake Joseph and Neveah’s bodies apart.
The sound is so loud they nearly fall to the floor but they have no chance to recover from it. Just as the
scream begins to taper off there is another thunderous crash, this one coming from above and shaking
the entire building. The ceiling begins to cave in, sending chunks of plaster and dust falling down
around them as they crouch against the wall, hoping that it will hold.
