  1. REVENGE OF THE B-TEAM
  2. (Modpack Specifications Doc)
  3.
  4.
  5. Overview
  6. Revenge Of The B-Team (ROTBT) is a faction/team based modpack using the Hardcore Questing Mod (HQM) as its core mod. The goal is to be the faction with the most “money” at the end of the season. Money is earned through quests, trading with other factions, killing other faction members, etc. These actions however will affect your reputation with other factions, which in turn will affect your ability to access certain items and/or quests. Many items will not be craftable, but available only through trade quests with other factions!

  11. Map layout
  12. While this modpack could technically be played on a standard generated world, for our series each of the 3 factions will be on their own “floating chunk island” (500x500 square of land down to bedrock, everything else around it removed with MCEdit) equidistant from each other, close enough to be able to view progress on other islands, but far enough that it won’t be trivial to travel from island to island.
  13.
  14. The mod Ex Nihilo (and counterparts such as Ex Aquilo) will be available to give us raw materials not found (or in limited quantities) on our respective islands (biome specific plants, ores, etc)

  18. Are you supposed to travel to the other islands or make bridges etc? (for interaction)

  21. Quests and Faction Rep
  22. Each faction (let’s call them Red, Yellow, and Blue) will have their own reputation, similar to MMO games such as World of Warcraft (http://www.wowwiki.com/Reputation for an in-depth explanation). Each faction will have access to specific machine/blocks/items from the modpack (discussion of how to best split these up will need to be discussed), and your rep standing with that faction will determine whether or not you have access to those items (or to be more specific, access to the quests that give you those items as rewards). Some items may require you to be very amiable with another faction...others might require you to be very hated with them! :)
  23.
  24. Everyone will have a core set of quests at the beginning, with the end of that quest chain resulting in choosing a faction to align to. If you choose to be a member of the Red Faction for example, you will receive a lot of reputation for Red and have access to all of Red’s offerings…but your rep with Yellow and Blue will go down, excluding you from their offerings.
  25.
  26. Your faction rep standing can be controlled a few ways:
  27. “Gift Quests” will allow you to give something to another faction to gain their favor. This results in a large increase in faction rep, but will also add money to that faction’s coffers!
  28. “Trade Quests” will allow you to pay for items of another faction (if you have the appropriate standing), which in turn will provide a moderate increase in faction rep as well as money to that faction.
  29. “Kill Quests” require you to kill a member of another faction. This results in a large decrease in faction rep, but you also *take* money from that faction and give it to your own!
  30. Other ways?

  37. Mod List
  38. At this point we have not identified what mods will go into the pack, but the modpack itself will be 1.7.10. Some good resources to research mods are:

  43.
  44. Types of mods we’ll need:
  45. Building/decoration mods - something for our builders to have to make all their pretty builds
  46. Combat & Defense mods - even though we aren’t going to be going super war-crazy, it’s always good to have PvP and the ability for minigames
  47. Storage mods - JABBA barrels mod is great, anything better than what we have now!!!
  48. Power/Tech/Automation mods
  49. Quirky mods - the stuff that differentiates us even more from other modpacks
  50. Faction-themed mods? For example, if one faction decides to go steampunk then put some steampunk themed mods in...or like magic, farming, futuristic, science, etc.
  51.
  52. Placeholder for Mod suggestions and comments (please research them a bit first and explain why you think it would be a good addition!):
  53. Ars Magica 2 - cuz making spells and zapping people with them is fun! That, and it also provides a nice mix of exploration, discovery, crafting, and technical know-how. For example, there are old tower ruins strewn across the map with treasure chests filled with magic spell scrolls and spell components. You need to learn the spells and then craft them. You’ll need the proper ingredients of course and this provides some adventure. It’s easy to get the spell and casting basics down but for those that want to delve into more complexity, there’s quite a bit of techno-magic in there for automation, transformation, etc. Also adds a few new mobs. I actually have experience with Ars Magica 1, but it seems like the follow-up is even more robust.
  54. Applied Energistics 2
  55. On of the biggest problems I had on this season was the lack of a good storage mod. Either you had to use the really buggy Project Red or do everything with chests. Not optimal for a modpack in my opinion. Applied Energistics is a high-end storage mod which is probually the best choice for a storage mod. I have seen a bunch of them, but none come near to Applied Energistics in the quality of the mod and the very userfriendly interfaces and autocrafting.
  56. Blood Magic
  57. Because dangerous, bad and evil magic is awesome! Blood magic adds sigils, which work as spells. Sigils give you a chance to perform powerful magical spells, but all at the cost of yours (or someone elses) blood. You can also perform rituals to gather items or just heal up when you enter your base.
  58. CodeChickenCore
  59. Needed for the Chicken_Bones mods such as NEI.
  60. Not Enough Items
  61. When you have a million mods adding a load of items, this is exactly what you need! This mods let’s you see all the added recipes and all the items that the various modpacks add.
  62. CraftHeraldry
  63. A simple mod that gives us the choice to create team banners purely for decoration.
  64. Flan’s mod
  65. What is a Revenge of the B-Team modpack without guns?!
